I think you and I bought these frags from Jeff around the same time. I also have no idea what it is, but Nate’s guess of ORA tricolor valida seems like a good possible match.
  2. I agree, they are annoying when they cover a coral. I've had great success using superglue to seal the tube shut if they're too close to a coral. The one in this video is in a perfect position where the current keeps the line drifting in the middle of the tank without touching any corals, so I've left this one alone.
  3. While many people consider vermetid snails to be annoying pests in a reef tank, they are pretty fascinating creatures with a very effective method of catching food. Here's a macro video of a vermetid in my tank reeling in its meal. It's amazing how much stuff it captures from the water column.
  4. Somebody today asked me about the Apex pushbutton box I have inside my cabinet door, but I can't remember who. If it was you and you're reading this, I got it from Harry Singer after seeing him post about it on the Neptune Facebook group. He also has a lot of info on Instagram under HarrysAquatics.
  5. Thanks to all of you for coming out today! I had a great time and loved showing off my tank. I've only been in this hobby for about a year and a half now, but I'm so impressed with all the great people I've met and the camaraderie of the reefing community. Thank you all for your advice and kind words in this short amount of time I've been involved with the group. And a special Thank You to @danlu_gt Daniel for the ReeFi demo today. They are very impressive lights, and I'm sure they will be a big success in the industry. Happy reefing, everyone!!!
  6. It's cool that they're getting big enough to easily see some of their details in the photos now!
  7. Don’t worry, you can use my “special” racquets. Can’t miss!
  8. If anyone eats too much and needs to work off some of the calories, I have the volleyball/badminton net set up. 🏐🏸😊 See you all tomorrow!
  9. Ha! Somebody just posted that they binged my whole thread in one day. I feel personally responsible for a decline in national GDP. 🤣 Hope you can make it to the meeting.
  10. Welcome aboard! Nice looking tank. Our next meeting is this Saturday at my house in Beaverton, where you can see my Red Sea Reefer XL 425 if that's something you're interested in seeing.
  11. I love Flan! Looking forward to seeing you.
  12. I woke up at 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I got up and looked at my tank. Both my Radion and Daniel’s ReeFi were in moonlight mode, and again I was impressed with how little side glare comes from the ReeFi. The illumination of the corals looked about the same from both even though it hardly looks like his light is on:
  13. Only 2 more days until the party! The weather forecast looks perfect for Saturday: We have the ReeFi Duo Extreme light installed and ready for the demo and side-by-side comparison against my Radion XR30 Pro: If you haven't RSVP'd yet, please submit your vote at the top of this thread. It will really help us plan for enough food. See you all on Saturday!
  14. Wow, nice clean setup! I think my next tank will be a peninsula. If you ever have Apex questions, feel free to ask me. I’ve been helping several other members here with theirs.
  15. @danlu_gt I posted a quick write-up about your lights on my Reef2Reef build thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/suncrestreefs-red-sea-reefer-xl-425-build.358990/post-6411779
  16. Your light looks great on my tank, and I really appreciate the lack of glare when I’m sitting across the room. The Radion really spills light everywhere even with the diffuser, but yours just illuminates inside the tank: Anyone who wants to see this side-by-side comparison of the ReeFi Extreme and the Radion XR30 Pro should attend this Saturday’s meeting and BBQ at my house. Daniel will be demonstrating his light and control interface, and there will be raffle prizes! Please RSVP here.
  17. Here's our recent discussion on spawning: http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/topic/45684-new-bird-nest-colonies/?do=findComment&comment=451586
  18. @TheClark FYI: Neptune's recommended approach for Trident users with calcium reactors is to still do controlled dosing of 2-part to simply smooth out the daily swing. So the CR is still supplying the bulk of calcium and alkalinity at the flow and PH you set, but the 2-part only supplements it a tiny bit during mid-day when uptake is at its highest. Trident fine-tunes the delivery by controlling a DOS but it doesn't mess with your CR settings.
  19. My goby likes to go for the sand dune look. 🙄
  20. Here are a couple of the original colony, under day lights and at night with a blue flashlight:
  21. My storage tanks came with 1.25" female bulkheads. I published a complete parts list in my build thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/suncrestreefs-red-sea-reefer-xl-425-build.358990/post-6173194 Just substitute the bulkhead adapters with the size you need, and everything else in my list should work for you.
  22. I found the old photo. On the left was the original mother colony that died:
