  1. I've got a bit of a cyano issue in my newish (4month) old 200g. It's not THAT bad, but it's ugly and I don't like it. I've been cutting down on lighting hours and doing more water changes, but I'm thinking maybe I'll hook up a bio pellet reactor so I'm not doing 30-40g water changes every week. So - what are the basics? My main question is if I need the output of the reactor to go straight into my skimmer - or just kind of exit int the same sump chamber. I'm not sure I can it hooked up to spit it right into the pump of the skimmer, but I can get it close. For the 200g...I need like a 4-5cup capacity? I see the cheap BRS units with no pump...should I just splurge and get the one with the pump included? Any advice is great. Any used units? Thanks.
  2. Saltwater is more expensive than gas.
  3. How about the reactors and the reeflo?
  4. I don't have an answer but you should for sure contact divers den and let them know asap. just to be on the safe side.
  5. I just drilled two 3in holes through the wall and then secured a piece of PVC through them. I figured it was better to have the chords and water lines going through the PVC vs. just leaving the holes wide open to the rest of the wall space. Also looks more finished. The big drill bits work alright but it took a little practice to get a clean cut. My biggest concern was just hitting wires or something so obviously check for that.
  6. I just got a male from Jeff a couple days ago. Would you split them up? I could try to get the female in there but I guess there's a chance they wouldn't pair up eh? You probably want to keep them together.
  7. Any fish left besides the large sohal?
  8. Hey all. I got this beast of a skimmer from brian67 a while back and I'm thinking its time to downsize a bit. My tank is only 200 gallons and this one is just too big. I paid $425 foir to six months ago. I realize this is a giant skimmer so the market is probably small. I'll take $350 for it. Let me know.
  9. How soon do you need it gone? I'm out of town till Monday. I could maybe take a look Tuesday but not sure my tank will be big enough. It's an 80in 200 but these guys get big right?
  10. THe home depot route makes me nervous because of all the water etc. Just the evaporation alone seems like it would cause some issue. What about something like this: cheap LED knock-off http://www.amazon.com/BeamsWork-Bright-Clamp--Aquarium-Fixture/dp/B00A0P7QAM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1453916639&sr=8-5&keywords=clip+on+light+6500
  11. Title explains it all - I'm trying to figure out what the best option for a light on a sump refugium. I could hang one from the stand but I'd rather just get something that clips on the side and extends out over the middle of the sump. There are so many options online I'm trying to sort out what people generally use....just growing chaeto. Thanks.

    Bubble trap help?

I have absolutely nothing to offer as far as help - but - where is the air coming from? Are the drains all full siphon? If so, then you just need to let the trapped air escape and those bubbles will work their way out...which they should over the course of an hour or two. So air is getting in somewhere. Maybe a connection point somewhere?
  13. Most important piece of equipment there is - in my opinion.
  14. Actually, you don't need a new fish. You need some strainers! Don't send another fish down the tube!! That sucks man. Hate when that stuff happens. I once came home and couldn't find a fairly large fish anywhere. Looked everywhere. Then I found it in a 10g hospital tank set up like a foot away. [language filter] thing jumped and landed in the hospital tank. Amazing. Only fish to ever experience a falling sensation and live.
  15. Yeah that's a steep price. Probably will go for like $900! Which is depressing because none of us will ever get all of this money back....
  16. I don't know where you are located but if it's close to portlsnd then I'd go in for 5-10 pounds.
  17. Whoa - I've never even seen this stuff. So the Phyto is just coral food basically? Their site makes it seem like it's a cure for everything - reduces nitrates and phosphates, stable ph etc. Is it really something worth going for? Any drawbacks? *Edited because I need to slow down.
  18. So of course my broken doser decided to not actually be broken at all....after I already got the replacement. I don't know what was wrong with it...just wouldn't hold a suction no matter how many times I tried. but now it does. So oh well. Worst things in the world than an extra doser. So...what should I dose? Right now I'm dosing two part. I'm thinking: MG? Vodka (new tank so not really needed yet). AcroPower? (Would that even work) What would y'all do with it?
  19. HI - who currently has this? And can I somehow get on the list to grab it for a couple days?
  20. Oh - haha - good point. I was basing that off the stuff I see on the EBAY site. Seems pretty reasonable and in line with what I would expect. And there are only a few listed.....but it's good to clarify. So let me rephrase it: I'm interested in talking about the shrooms...
