  1. If you're in Portland this week, I'd take the cucumber.
  2. I've had this before... super annoying! What I did to get rid of it was create the greatest amount of flow possible, reduce the white spectrum of lighting a bit, dose GFO, add in sand sifting critters, keep feeding down enough to not create much excess nutrients . It'll die off in time.
  3. The probe should be the lab grade version, since it is blue. Regular ph probe is red.
  4. Thank you to Cuttlefish and Coral for the amazing Bartlett Anthias! Such a good deal! They're happily in my tank and began eating within 20min.
  5. Keep on going, this is really interesting information! Exodus, I really appreciate all the detail you provided in your first post.
  6. Pm'd you about the gold assessor
  7. I use BRS 2 part for my tank. Its about 4 months old and heavily loaded with SPS. 50gal water volume. I add 105ml alk and 96ml Ca DAILY. It's dosed 12 times per day in smaller increments. Not sure how that translates but I've learned it's always wayyy more than the manufacturer recommends to start with.
  8. Got to Newport yesterday. It's nice and cool down here. May even want to bring a sweater. See you all in a few hours!
  9. You would leave it in one spot for a day or two to measure par readings then move elsewhere and do the same. That would show you par levels throughout a full light cycle.
  10. Wow, this is awesome!! I just got my Apex a few weeks ago so will need to order this module. Can't wait to see all the new things developed down the road.
  11. Pending pick-up today Sorry Rolekii, someone beat you to it through a PM right after I posted it. You're next in line if it falls through.
  12. I have an older BioCube 29 tank, stand and lid available for anyone that want to come pick it up (photo links below). It is NOT in great condition but holds water without any leaks. Could make a good quarantine tank for someone. Tank is not clean and has a few minor scratches, lid had been gutted but I have all parts needed to reassemble the lighting, stand is fine. It has been sitting in my garage empty and needs to go. Message me here if interested. I live in downtown Portland. Thanks! 13. This also seems like a pretty nice package..... http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaMaxx_Star_S_1_Calcium_Reactor_Package_Calcium_Reactor_Packages_without_a_CO2_Gas_Tank-AquaMaxx-UJ001681-FICRCPWO-vi.html#Manuals
  14. Wow, that is some impressive Apex programming Jeremy!! That'll come in handy once i'm ready to get my reactor hooked up! Anyone used this regulator before? - http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-fanatic-deluxe-co2-regulator.html I'm tempted to just go with a pre-assembled regulator vs. picking out individual parts to assemble since i am new to using a Ca Reactor.... But i'm not opposed if i could have something much better by getting separate parts.
  15. Thanks for all the great responses! I know almost nothing about Calcium reactor setups and configurations so more research is a must but this is all helpful for me. My tank has about 50 gallons of water volume and is mostly SPS. It's heavily stocked with frags and some established colonies. I need to add about 96ml Alk and 88ml Ca of BRS 2 part each day to maintain optimal levels. I do plan to upgrade to a 150ish but it won't be for a year or two. Good to know that the investment should be focused on the regulator, c02 valve, and effluent valve. I have an Apex i plan to use to control it. I'll look in to what Jeremy recommended but please keep sending any suggestions and advice my way
  16. After hearing so many arguments supporting the use of a calcium reactor over 2 part, I'm looking to make the switch! Hoping to hear the forums recommendations of brands for both the reactor and necessary accessories. Also would love to purchase one from someone if in good condition. Thanks!
  17. Thanks for the red planet colony. This guy has some seriously impressive stuff!
  18. Thanks, appreciate the comments! It's been doing very well so far. There is a pretty wide mix of corals right now because I've been seeing what i like and does best. It's been over a decade since i've been in the hobby so trying new things. I'm going to keep it mostly SPS dominant and will probably sell some of the LPS and softies soon.
  19. The Hydor ATO has always worked flawlessly for me. I wouldn't worry about overfilling if you have the right pump and plumb correctly.
  20. PS - I'm not the best photographer... and this is from my phone
  21. Hi - I've been lurking in the forum, reading and purchasing from classified for a few months but have never posted pictures of my tank. Thought i would share a few pictures of my 50 gallon 36"x18"x19" mixed reef. A lot of the corals came from PNWMAS members Its only been running for about 4 months but has done very well so far. It's packed pretty full so i may need to start fraging/selling corals soon.
