  1. Thank you!! I'm going to upload some pics soon! I have almost all the gear but new tank hasn't arrived yet. It takes 6-ish weeks so still about two weeks left :(
  2. The above diagram is for my plumbing (made in Visio so not perfect). I plan to use a Bean Animal configuration with the Synergy Reef 16" overflow. There will be a single return line from the pump that splits part way up to a dual channel return line. There i'll have 4 outputs that can connect 1/2" push connect fittings. This is how i'll hook-up the 3 reactors and any other peripheral items. I plan to have a BRS Cepex valves for each of the 4 outputs. Each return channel will have a BRS True Union Check-Valve to prevent back siphoning. Please give me any feedback on something you see that could be improved or problematic!
  3. Hi Everyone - This is my FIRST build thread! It'll be a couple month long process as i have been slowly acquiring the equipment since Sept. 2015. My goal is to have the tank running by February 2016. Currently, I have a 50 gallon glass breeder with stand, canopy and custom made sump. My new tank will be a 120 gallon glass tank that measures 48" x 24" X 24" with a Monterey style stand a canopy. The important factor for me was getting this exact style stand and canopy which, unfortunately, had to be special ordered from the east coast as it is no longer carried on the west coast. I really like the trim, finish, height, front opening canopy doors and the ability to remove the side panels from the stand. I also wanted a tank that had more depth to it, which is why i opted for the 48" versus the more standard 72". The system will be a mixed reef but mostly SPS and LPS with roughly 95 lbs of live rock and "reef-grade" sand. I'm still working to determine the aquascape, which i will post later. I've also purchased all plumping parts from BRS and based it off the 52 weeks of reefing series about plumbing so all pipes and fittings will be color matching and visually appealing. Let me start by listing out my equipment I've collected so far for the new tank. Lighting: 4 x AI Hydra 26 3 x T5 48" 54 Watt 1 x AI Prime to light the Refugium Filtration: Bubble Magnus Curve 9 Skimmer Trigger Systems Emerald 39 Sump - Will have refugium 2 x BRS Mini Media Reactor - 1 with RowaPhos GFO and 1 with 0.8 ROX Carbon BRS Bio Pellet Reactor Circulation: Waveline DC10000II Apex Ready Return Pump Gyre xf130 w/ Icecap Module Gyre xf150 w/ Icecap Module Other: Synergy Reef 16" Bean Animal Overflow - Will be having tank professionally drilled locally Aquamax Star S-1 Calcium Reactor Finnex 500W Titanium Heater Apex System (temp,2xPH) Tunze ATO w/ 8 Gallon RODI Reservoir More to come!
  4. Good meeting you and thanks for the sale! Light and all parts in fantastic condition! Someone else will also be very happy with the purchase of the final light you have!
  5. I use one a absolutely would not skip it. Not only does it help keep effluent ph slightly higher coming out of the reactor, it helps the co2 dissolve and helps the key elements diffuse in to the water. You need a reasonably big one to make a difference. For a 20“ tall reactor that holds 8lbs media, I used a 3" diameter pvc pipe that is 20" tall. Added a t-fitting and reducer that fits a 1/4 " push connect fitting so the effluent output of the reactor goes into the bottom of the secondary tube. I then filled the tube full of media, added a coupling to the top with a reducer to 1/4" push connect fitting which runs back into the sump. I've measured effluent with and without the secondary multiple times and found the elements concentration and ph is always greater. It's cheap and easy to do so why not :-)
  6. Brs ROX .8 is great! No dust and extremely effective. I use it in a reactor. Watch the brs carbon test videos.
  7. ABC Fire Extinguisher. $15 for 5lbs. Refill and keep your own tank
  8. Great tank dimension! Please post pics when you have them.
  9. Mandinga - are you using it to remove Xenia or gsp?
  10. I'm really hesitant to use fluke tabs for that reason. I also have gsp which I heard it kills. I'm wondering if I'll just need to use a scalpel to do "surgery" in order to remove every tiny piece, one rock at a time, that it's on....
  11. Next in line if sale falls through!
  12. I mistakenly put a small frag of xenia in my tank a while ago and it's spread throughout. I've cut most off and gave it away but there a pieces that pop up around the tank. Within a month it grows into large colonies and begins encroaching on my other corals. How the heck do I get rid of this stuff? Even the smallest scrap grows again. It's like a weed. Advice on how to rid my tank of it would be greatly appreciated. It's on rocks with established SPS colonies so can't remove the rock easily. Thanks!
  13. I don't see any coralife co2 regulators online... Is it aquatic life? Or am I bad at online searching
  14. I use them and am extremely happy! Mine is connected to an Apex which makes a big difference with its functionality. I keep one on either side to create alternating flow patterns.
  15. Thanks for the Garf frag. Good meeting you!
  16. Sent pm about the Mandarin if he can go separate from the tank.
  17. New to keeping zoas and have several Zoa colonies in my tank that have been closing up during mid-day lighting. Two small colonies are on frag discs and have been moving away from the top of the disc and down the side towards the rock it's on. Is this a sign of too much light? They do not have strong flow...
  18. Awesome, thanks!! Look forward to picking up the bonsai at the party and seeing everyone! All the corals I got from you last time have done amazingly.
  19. Sale is pending to Intern. Sorry, Arsonmfg - He PM'd me minutes after I posted it.
