  1. 5lbs of it will seed the tank sooo well! Having dry rock is the perfect reason to use it!
  2. So far we have: 5lbs - Optimusprime3605 10lbs - Zwickm 5-10lbs - Emerald525 5-10lbs - Bevo5 Total: 25-35lbs
  3. So it sounds like we'll probably have enough interest! Pukani rock is the best both visually and from a biological capacity perspective. I've seen the rock they send before and it really looks as nice as the pictures! I'm happy to facilitate the ordering process and have it shipped to my address unless someone else would like to do that? The next possible order needs to be placed by 2/22 for a 3/11 delivery so we have a bit of time. Closer to ordering time, I'll reach back out to everyone who is interested to confirm. I'll want to collect a deposit for the weight you think you'll need but we can true up when it arrives based on what you actually end up taking. It'll break down to $5.20 lbs which is the exact cost per lbs for 48lbs per the BRS website. We can wait to do all this until closer to 2/22 but a heads up. More people please feel free to join in! We can order as much as people want as long as it exceeds 48lbs. Right now we have 15-30lbs worth of interest. Thanks, Mike
  4. Hi everyone! Putting feelers out for this idea. I'm wondering if others would be interested in sharing the cost of an order of Pukani from Bulk Reef Supply. I don't want a full 48lbs, just 10ish-lbs to seed my tank with more natural organisms, sponges, coraline, etc. Here is a link : http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/live-pukani-rock-air-ships-directly-from-fiji-48-pounds-walt-smith.html Really amazing stuff! Would anyone else want to go in on part of an order 48lbs or greater? It cost $250 got 48lbs so approx $5 pound. Let me know. Mike
  5. Darn! I would love to take the sun coral if you were closer to Portland...
  6. Assuming they do have a a ring? Just flexible. And 200 micron?
  7. I'm having the tank drilled locally. It'll have two 1" holes for the returns and two 1.5" holes for the overflow. The two return holes will actually be about 2" from the top of the glass, not 4". You need to leave some space from the edge and i want to play it safe. I'm hoping if i use the union check valves, it'll be easy to clean or replace. They would be more for backup in case of an emergency. I will definitely try to get my return line length more equal from the T on either side. Thanks for the heads up on that!
  8. So i'm curious what would make you want to switch to dosing from a Ca reactor? I used to dose and it was a nightmare to get the balance right plus the hassle of mixing and refilling chemicals. Since gong to a reactor, my water chemistry has hardly fluctuated. Set and forget..... Just curious.
  9. Thanks! The return will be pvc. In fact, everything is pvc except 1' of silicon tubing that connects to the return pump to prevent vibration. Push connect fittings to attach 1/2" tubing from the brs reactors to the pvc return line. These things: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/mur-lok-male-npt-x-push-connect.html I'm worried that the back flow when shutting the return pump off will be too much for the sump. The return output into the tank will be 4"-ish below the water line so that's a lot of gallons of back flow. Feel like it would be better to play it safe... Can you elaborate on your last paragraph? Do you mean if I move the return pump to be more centered to the T-split?
  10. Yea, it's the large 3 sock 39. Have you seen the new sumps from the coral vue site? They have more compact models. Also the new K2 skimmers! So nice
  11. It's from Trigger Systems. Love there sumps!
  12. Yea it's even better looking in person! It's about 39" L x 16" W so holds about 40 gallons.
  13. It has arrived!!! A thing of beauty
  14. The tank is just an undrilled Marineland. It's the stand and canopy i was particular about and needed to be order specially. Good Advice on the unions. I have quite a few in there now but should probably add a few more. I know wherever i don't add them is where a potential problem will arise
