  1. Here is my ghetto setup no floods no problems eh =) Tapped in to the angle stop for the toilet ran the drain line into the tank overflow and set the jug in the shower that way if I forget about it and come back later my only loss is water down the drains. Never had a flood this way =) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

    UV Spot light

Hey I am not very familiar with DIY LEDs but I am toying around with a UV spotlight to target a Zoa garden on my new tank build and am contemplating using this 20w uv matrix led but am not entirely sure what driver and power supply I need to run it. I was thinking about attaching it to a cpu heat sink and fan to keep it cool and making a custom housing for it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20W-High-Power-LED-UV-Light-395-405nm-50LM-Ultra-Violet-LED-Chip-Bead-Bulb-Lamp/112005896068?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3D0193b39519b94ab7bcfc46d64e83ddc6%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D15%26rkt%3D20%26sd%3D222070355324 I have a 80* optic for it like you would see on a kessil . I know we have some talented folks on here in regards to the DIY Led builds and this is all new to me and when I started to research drives and such there were so many options that it was crazy town out here. Thanks for your feed back.
  3. The second sensor is not fully seated because I am also running a kalk stirrer I did not want the ato pump to run very long short bursts. I will come up with a permanent solution sooner or later but for now it works and if it should happen to get shoved all the way down it would not be catastrophic was thinking about putting a piece of airline tubing in there as a wedge to lock it in place. 4. Thanks I will address them with flow. I was not keeping detritus removal from my rocks and had a lot of accumulation build up have started turkey basting my rock and have remove a lot of waste build up so this is will help did some more research and saw that people reported sea hares eating them as well might look into a sea hare rental =)
  5. Been doing epic battle with these tiny white algae like substance on my rocks. It grows really fast and the bigger it gets the more complex the structure. It cleans off very easy and have been siphoning it out and scrubbing with toothbrush but the next day it is back. I don't think it is hydroids. It seems more like an algae. Here are some not so great cell phone picks. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

  15. Are you buying new or used ? the 2 skimmers listed are not eve in the same ball park as far as price if you have a sub $200 budget there are not as many options for skimmers that will be rated for 200 gallons. however $250 - $350 you have a lot of options including some pretty nice skimmers. Omega 130 Protein Skimmer - Vertex $320 Skimz Kone SK181 Internal Protein Skimmer $280 Simplicity 240DC Protein $250 as well as the reef octopus you listed at $290 Bubble Magus Curve 7 $280 you have lots of options to chooose from. I would stay away from the coral life skimmer and spend the extra money.
  16. Added an ATO just need to clean up the wires and hoses a bit. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  17. This will actually work out well for me as I am at least 4 months away from my new tank being ready and a little extra cycling time while the grow out comp ends won't hurt =)
  18. One more with the front panel on. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  19. Tank and stand are in the house time to start plumbing =) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks it is a lot of fun with very minimal amount of upkeep. I have 12 pseudotropheus saulosi in there and they are just starting to hit maturity. Lots of entertainment especially right by the couch like that =) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  21. Getting closer got the stand sanded and painted and started working on modifications and repairs to the sump. Going to have a 24x14x14 area in the sump for a display fuge area. Also painte.the back of the tank using the same semi gloss latex paint and primer I used on the stand turned out really good used a foam roller and did 4 coats. Left the area behind the overflow clear just in case so I can look in for missing live stock =) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  22. This is one that I feel needs a larger tank to have a big school of them in or you will end up with 1. Also need lots of rock work to give them places to hide. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
  23. That is a bang up job on the plumbing very clean and well planned out! Keep up the good work =)
