We bought this about the middle of last year (can't remember when the meeting at Tims/Westside Aquarium was)....but we had never kept a Duncan before and so we thought we would give it a try and bought a single head for $10...Well we have found them to be really easy to keep and they grow like crazy, this one head now has 10 which is more than a head a month growth. When fully expanded its about the size of baseballsih (maybe tennis ballish...(laugh)) somewhere in there... With the rate this is growing I am going to need to either frag it (which I have never done) or sell it, and I am going the second route...I have already had to move it once as its just growing too fast for my tank...and I already have limited space and would like to focus more on SPS down the road... I have seen Duncans like this go for as low as $5 per head...so I am offering this up for $45 delivered (depending on my schedule) to the portland/vancouver area...If your looking for a nice colony of Duncans, I think you will like it, it has beautiful blue/green dish with blue skirt tenticles... Here is what it looked like a few months after we got it...showing new heads poppin out... And what it looks like today... I also have an extra frag of Magicians, I bought two frags a while ago (single polyps) and they have grown really well for me, so I am letting go of one of the frags, the one I am letting go of has 10 polyps (Some younger some adult polyps) and a nub/baby that will be open anyday...(but I am not counting it)...I paid $10 I think for one polyp...so I think $45 for 10 is a good price right?(scratch) Or I would do $75 for both....

Bummer, So sorry to hear that, I had a snowflake once, they have such personalities, I got really attached to mine, I honestly have no idea what could have happenend...Sorry for your loss...

Just another update on my pink birdsnest....its crazy to think back at how tiny it was and how much its grown over time, this peice is pretty special to me..

This sounds like a blast and a great oppertunity to learn something from a very knowledgable source, while I voted for Marine Fish Breeding 101 (Even though I have no plans on breeding Marine Fish)....the third option sounds really cool as well (Harlequin Filefish)....Either one would be awesome.... This last weekend we experienced a outage that lasted 5 hours, it just happened to be one of the coldest days too. For years we have talked about getting a Generator but never got one, Its one of those things where you might never have to use it for years but that one time where something bad does happen, you at least have a way to keep the filtration and heat going. After this last scare, with the PUD saying they didn't know what was wrong, and it could take several days to restore power, we went out and bought a 5,000 watt generator and are installing it this weekend. We are going to have it wired into our house to its own receptical, so that if the power goes out, we just fire it up and plug what we need into the special outlets that go to the generator. I had looked at smaller gas powered generators, but I wanted something that could run the tanks, maybe a computer and some lights, possibly a heater (as we only have electric heat in our house)...it just seems like 400w is not all that much, but it sounds like your not wanting to power up all that much equipment. We keep and breed some pretty rare reptiles as our other hobby, and if the temperature drops to far thats not good for our reptiles, so having a generator with enough power to keep 3 fish tanks and a room full of reptiles warm and alive in the event of big power outage is worth the chunk of change it cost for the generator. not to mention the peace of mind.... While we don't have super fancy corals, or big tanks, I can imagine some peoples tanks having thousands and thousands of dollars in corals, and to me having a $400-$600 generator as backup to keep the tank up and running would be a really good thing to have, and I am super happy I bought one...and after this weekend, I will be prepaired...

They used to make the MP10. MP20 and MP40....but now with the new "EcoSmart" controler, I think they only make the MP10, MP40 and the new MP60....They still make the MP10 its just MP10 with the new EcoSmart Contoler....And if you go with two of them, I recomend paying a little more and going with the MP10w ES (the Wireless Ones) that way you can sync them or run them in AntiSync whatever works best...That was/is my plan...

Well, I just heard/saw that "Mr. Saltwatertank" approves it, and recomends it....lol

I have one MP10w ES on my 40b and had planned on getting another MP10w ES for the other side, but honestly, the one is pretty darn good, I think with two MP10w ES, you would have wicked good flow and could have hours of fun dailing it in to how the flow works together, alternating, ect. If I had a 60g cube, I would for sure do two MP10's.....they are great little water movers with lots of ability to tweek the flow...

Its the Driftwood, makes the water very tanic, she is trying to give it that Blackwater Amazon Rainforest look....in time the tanic from the driftwood will lighten up, you should have seen it when we first set it up, when we did partials it was like draining dark tea from the tank...Some people don't like the blackwater tanic look, but I think it adds to the natural look of what it really would be like if you snorkeled in some back estuary of the Amazon....

We did have a 250w Sunpod on it, and it was TOO much, MASSIVE algea like crazy...it was INSANE! so we replaced the Sunpod with an Orbit which is a Power Compact fixture, and so far the algae issue has gone away and the plants still are doing very well, and the fixture itself looks idential to the Sunpod...fits on there very nicely.

Here are a couple of pics....Its a work in progress Shrimp Mainly Community Fish like Rasboras, Swords, Platies, ect...Its fairly newly setup, so its not exactly how she wants it, but in time with aquascaping the plants and seeing what works and doesn't work, I think it has potential to be a pretty Amazon Planted Tank....

Bummer, Sorry you had that happen, what was your Alk out of curiousity? When you moved everything over, how did you do it, water, sand, rock everything? Anything change at all like added more bioload or anything? Could be that when you moved everything over to the new tank, it stirred up and started a mini cycle that the Torch wasn't able to take, any spikes in any of your parameters? Super sorry you had that happen, I feel your pain, I had a few LPS do the same thing when I moved my stuff too....Hope your other one continues to stay ok....keep us posted...

They are Electric Blue Jack Dempseys, there was a cool article about them, in a Aquarium Mag I have at home, some people questioned if they where a hybrid and the originator of them had DNA testing done and it came back that they where actually Jack Dempsey's....They are very beautiful fish, spendy but beautiful...

How big is it? like compaired to coins...Dime, Nickel, Quarter, Half dollar? If its really small (Dime size) I would think possibly a Mojano Anemone???Maybe??

My wife has one, and I have been getting the itch to to another one again, but now that I have the reef addiction, its hard to go back to freshwater...LOL, no but seriously there are some amazing freshwater tanks, and a nicely planted freshwater tank can be almost as beautiful as a saltwater reef in my opinion. I will have to snap some pics of my wifes 40g Column Planted tank....its very simple no CO2 or fancy anything, very simplicitic with plants, driftwood and some community fish. I saw your other post on the really cool Black and Red Shrimp, did you have an ad on Craigslist a while back for them? I showed it to my wife and she flipped out wanting some for her tank...those are very cool!

So very sorry about your puppy, my dog is like my kid and we have had our fare share of vet bills, so I feel your pain, our thoughts and prayers are with you, and wish you the best of luck with the sale and healthy of your puppy.
