    snow

    WAIT!!.......I think I saw a snowflake.....I deed...I deed....But just one...darnit!(flame)
  2. Thats what I was thinking, like a turkey baster and blast the sides with it, it would be gently and might just work....
  3. LOL....Im already scheduled to do that on saturday....If nobody wants it I will bring it in...but I am coming for Salt on Saturday...its like you read my mind....I was like whoa...how did he know I was comming for salt...LOL
  4. No, I check the temps pretty frequently, I have the heater set for 78.5 at night and during the day with the Halides and fans on it goes to 79.5...it never goes above 80 or below 78....the temp is something I check often, both in the tank and the sump temps...
  5. I picked this guy up a few weeks ago from OIAB in hopes it would help with a bit of Algea issues, but unfortunatley he doesn't seem to like the algea and seems to really want Coraline algea which I don't have a whole lot of. He is doing great, and has just about eaten all my coraline I did have, so I figured I would see if someone was interested in it. It reminds me of those Roomba little robot sweepers that randomly goes around looking for whatever, he does pick stuff up and move it, so word of warning. He is pretty cool, but since he is not going after my problem spot of algea, I don't want him to starve, and my coraline is about gone, so he has to go. I paid $15 for him, and that is what I am asking, I can meet in portland this satruday, as we are coming down to hit some of the shops.
  6. When the tissue receeded, algea started growing on the exposed skeleton, Slowly I am afraid it is dying, I have two other Candy Cane colonies, and both of them are doing the same thing, slowly dieing. I honestly don't know why, the paremeters all check out fine, Basically the only thing that is doing well are all the birdsnests and some soft corals. So far duing this transition, I have lost all my SPS but the birdsnest, all my LPS are weithering away but a Duncan which is doing great, as for softies, most of my Zoanthids have melted but on the other hand, I have a frag of Magicians that are doing Awsome and popping out new heads left and right. Most of my soft corals are doing fine, Leather, GSP, Mushrooms are all fine.... I just added a frag of Bird of Paradise Birds Nest to see if it would make it, and sure enough, its doing AWESOME!! so for some reason I am only able to keep Soft Corals and Birds Nests...LOL I have about 5 different kinds, along with some Pocillipora (which is kinda birdsnest like) and they all seem to be doing ok.... I also recently added a small little green bubble coral frag that is about the size of a quarter, and its doing awesome...so I don't know why somethings are perishing and something are doing great...its really weird. I just don't know what I am doing wrong, and hope to someday figure it out or have the tank stablize (whatever that means as my water all tests out ok)....I set this darn thing up to specifically do SPS....more than just birdsnest...lol

    snow

They where so bold last night about this "Snow Storm" that they where actually telling kids that they will have Snowdays at least on thursday if not also friday....now thats BOLD!! They seem to hype things up a little much, and its kind of annoying...we will see how "Bad" this snow storm really is...I bet it will be hardley nothing...all that hype for just a couple of flakes that will melt in a day...phfff....snow storm my butt...LOL(nutty)(laugh) We will see....I hope I have to eat my words by friday...but I am bet'n it wont be nearly as "Bad" as they are making it out to be...which sucks, Cuase I would love a real dosey...at least one good one...where I don't have to go to work...LOL(plotting)

    snow

Im pissed....All this hype of snow and the gorge is normally the worst, but NOTHING here...just rain...Its weird that its snowing in Eugene but not here....Is it me or does the Portland news seem to make such a HUGE deal about snow...LOL, Even the mayor held a press conference about the comming bad weather...lol, I better start seeing some snowflakes or I am writing every weatherman/woman in portland to gripe...LOL(laugh)
  9. I normally fill a 5 gallon bucket with RODI water and then add the salt, powerhead and heater and let it sit overnight....
  10. Cool, Thanks for the replies everyone...I think I am going to pickup a bucket and start using it for my 5 gallon water changes instead of Instant Ocean....
  11. I am curious for those who are using it or have been using it, how do you like it? I know some of you are using it, any opinions? I am thinking about giving it a try and switching salts but am kinda freaked out about trying something new. Now I am talking about the new Kent REEF salt not the regular marine sea salt that has been around a long time. I have continued to use regular Instant Ocean since my new tank was initially setup with Reef Crystals and I didn't like that salt at all, I could never get it to mix, I am guessing it was a bad batch of salt, so I have went back to Instant Ocean, but I am now getting the itch to give Kent Reef Salt a try. Anyone using it want to chime in and give us a review on it? I figured its the same price as most of the other salts, but I haven't seen too many reviews on it, I am guessing cause its so new on the market. But I remembered a few of you guys saying you where trying it, but I havn't seen any updates as to weither you like it or not.
  12. WOW!! Really nice setup, Congrats on the new tank! Looks really nice! Can't wait to see it when it clears up!
  13. Just a guess here, but the second one looks like RadioActive Dragons Eyes, and the third one looks like Bam Bam Orange, the first one I have no idea, I have some that are simular, but I never got a name on them. Awesome colonies of beautiful zoas though, very cool! Maybe someone with more Zoa ID experience will chime in.
  14. Hey Brad, Did you end up selling the PC? If its still available I am interested....
  15. Thanks Grassi for the offer, I wish I was able to attend the meeting, I am out of town today.....plus I am really apprehensive about putting anymore SPS in my tank at the moment....But thanks for the offer...Its a really beautiful Milli and someday I would love to have another frag of it.
  16. Thanks everyone for the replies, just an update, they have not completely died, but they aren't looking very good...here is an updated pic..
  17. Very Nice Grassi, Wish I could get some more SPS, I lost my yellow/Green Milli I got from you in my move to the new setup, Man I loved that Milli, For those thinking of getting frags from Grassi, I highly recomend it, great guy, great frags!

    Plumbing Help

Thats what I was thinking too, Should still be able to drill a hole in the top of one of them, maybe the closest one to the surface of the water line, then angle the rest of the lockline down, that way it would still only drain to the first knuckle with the hole and break the syphon....just an idea, might work.

    Plumbing Help

I drilled a siphon break on the return, just a hair under the water line, that way when the pump shuts off, and it starts back syphoning, it only drains just a little bit before it starts sucking air and breaks the syphon. I did this by just taking a small drill bit (can't remember what size, either 1/8 or 1/4) and just drilled one hole. I will snap a picture and post it here in a few minutes, I am sure there is a spot just under the water line that you can drill this hole into, this will create a syphon break. Here is a picture of one of my returns....Are you able to do anything like this? It works great....
  20. Nice, Congrats on the new additions, Great Zoas and even greater pics!
  21. This explains it for me, I did not know we got rep points for post counts, so I guess those points issued by other people I can see, its the points issued by my post count that are not visible. That clears up why I have more rep points than I am able to see, here I was thinking 50+ people gave me good rep points......Darnit.....lol
  22. The 36" Fixture, what brand is it? I am trying to figure out how I would suspend it above a 40b....(plotting) Oops...sorry I saw its only the fixture, so i would need ballasts...Nevermind Sorry, it wouldn't work for me...
  23. The Midnight Clowns are pretty cool, basically the Black version of the Naked I think...Solid Black...Sucks about your Snowflake, sorry about that. Oops...You said "Really Dark Looking Picasso's"...my bad, I misread your post...
  24. But if its a genetic reproducable mutation, you would think it would follow some kind of mendelian genetics, and you would be able to somewhat predict the outcome. There are mutations in other animals that causes a higher death rate in egg developement that causes less to reach final gestation. If it follows a Co-Dominant pattern, a Picasso bred to a Picasso should yeild 25% normal Perculas, 50% Picassos and 25% Platinums, but thats not to say the Platinums possibly have some kind of issue with them that naturally culls some of the platinums off. Its interesting, I really like Genetic Mutations, they fascinate me....Wish I could breed clownfish...LOL
  25. It says I have 54 rep points, but when I go to the settings, it only shows those points given that someone had actually left a comment as well, so I am guessing it only shows points with comments, and if someone gives you a point (good or bad) that if they don't leave a comment, then it won't show who did it? is that right? I only show about 10+ people giving me points but they left comments, I don't know who gave me the other 40+....
