  1. These are the only ones that we have that I would say have "Speckles"...I have no idea what they are, but they have REALLY long Skirts/Frills.... "EDIT" I take that back, we do have a Paly that has some speckling too...
  2. We stopped by the Nano Reef a couple of weekends ago for the first time, and found this little gem, to me they are the most beautiful turquoise colored zoanthids I have seen in person. My wife got them for her tank, and I am very jelous of them. Anyway...I havn't seen many like this, maybe others have...but I thought I would share a pic of them. If anyone else has some that are like this let me know, I would love to get some for my tank.
  3. Funny, I actually don't know where Castle Rock is...(scratch) Basically if your in Vancouver...and follow the columbia river east...about 1.5 hours...and if you blink...you'll miss it. We are in between Hood River, OR and The Dalles OR, but on the Washington Side...VERY small town.
  4. Thought I would throw this out there...I will be fragging our Pulsating Xenia this weekend, and thought I would put a big frag of it up for "Share the Love" program. This Frag will be good sized, and will be attached to rubble rock, I will let my wife Amanda pick a name at random in one weeks time, and we can deliver it anywhere in the portland area. I will have pics up of the mother colony soon...prior to snipping... For those interested in a nice Pulsating Xenia Frag...post the phrase "May Day..Share the Love" for your chance to win one. I will draw the random name out on May Day...(May 1st) Crappy Pic...But it is pretty and pulsates really well, very hypnotic if you stare at it too long..lol
  5. I have some too, I have Pom Pom and Pulsating Xenia, I was going to frag the Pulsating Xenia this weekend, and have thought about parting with two large peices of live rock that are completley covered with Green Star Polyps. Let me know....
  6. PM Sent..I might be interested in a peice or two
  7. Thanks Everyone for the warm welcome...and the recomendations for larger tanks! Yeah! Gresham is just a hop, skip and jump from us...(rock2) Its great to meet people that are near us that are into the same hobby...This forum is Awsome! The only downside to the BIG tanks is everything becomes massively expensive...More live rock, Bigger lighting, Bigger Filtration (Skimmer, sump, ect.)... I have been pretty happy with our smaller tanks, your just limited to what all you can put in there, we have run out of space to put new stuff..(scratch) Thats the only downside I have noticed with the smaller "Nano" type tanks...A 120 would be cool though...hmmm..
  8. Thats to bad, Sorry about that...One thing I have learned is that if it was a Haddon's Carpet (AKA Saddle Anemone) they prefer to be in sandy bottom areas, I have heard they don't like to be on the rocks like many Anemone's do. They are fish killers though..I agree..We lost a Firefish and a few Blue/Green Chromis and quite a few cleanup crew crabs and snails. They are super sticky...and will stick to your hand even if you touch it. Your right about the coral placement, I have to be careful what I put near it...what it lacks in long tenticles...it makes up for in Size...when fully open it takes up a BUNCH of space in the tank...And its grown quite a bit since we first got it.. Was yours sticky to the touch when you got it? I have heard mixted things about "Flow"...Many people have lots of flow near them...ours didn't seem to like it...I know there are other Carpets like the Stichodactyla gigantea that seem to like flow from what I have read/been told. Glad your Clown made it, by some grace of god, our 6-Line has made it despite a couple of close encounters with it. One time I thought she was a goner...but to my suprise...survived...had some patches where she got stung..but they went away..and now she is totally fine.
  9. Curious who all keeps Carpets here? We have had one for a while, along with its Clarki that is in total love with it. I would love see other peoples, so if you keep them, post pics of them...Would love to hear your experiences with them, the good bad and ugly...So far we have really enjoyed it, the only downsides I have encountered is they are big (when fully expanded) and carry a powerful sting (Very Sticky)...we have a 6-line wrasse that either thinks its a Clownfish or has a deathwish...or its just not the brightest 6-line wrasse in the world..lol(nutty) Its been stung at least a few times..but has always fully recovered no worse for ware... Anway...Here is a pic..Its about the size of Basketball (12-14 inches) when fully out. Ours is a Haddon's Carpet Anemone (Stichodactylla haddoni)...Anyone else keep Carpets?
  10. Oh Man:eek: That thing was amazing! I have never seen anything like it, very Beautiful...Congrats to whoever won that!
  11. LOL...I guess your right, Shows how much I know about auctions, I placed bids, but then realized that everyone waits till the last minute to place thier bids, and I was getting snipped left and right..lol, The computer I was on was SOOOoooo slow, and I couldn't place bids fast enough to win...lol...It was fun, I tried....Maybe next time..I will place a higher bid..(plotting)
  12. I just checked out last night the auctions from "Ocean in a Box"...There was some awsome Zoanthids up for auction...The Bummer part is I didn't win one single auction...(sad) Anyone here win any of those? They where beautiful...if you did...major congrats!!
  13. Thats FUNNY!...and so true...:o
  14. Beautiful Pics! You have a very nice collection of ricordia, Love the zoanthids too! My wife has a small Toadstool in her tank and it has white polyps just like yours...I always thought it was just a different type of toadstool...(plotting) but I would love to learn more about it.
  15. Great Thread! My Avatar is of our Clarki sandwiched between the folds of its Haddoni Carpet Anemone. It likes to go under it and pop up between the folds and sit there, I was luck to be able to catch him with the camera. He often times sleeps like that at night, almost like a Armored Sleeping Bag...lol
  16. Thanks Everyone for the warm welcome(clap) Already there...lol, Its cool...especially under actinic lighting...bright green...but its like xenia...you really have to watch it...I bought two big chunks of live rock with it on there...I am trying to get it to grow on the sides of the tank...lol They are awsome...I love them, I want to setup a "Clam Tank" also...There are so many different colors/patterns...they are probably the most addicting things I have come across...I don't think I go a day without seeing one I just have to have..."only if I had a big tank devoted to just clams"...lol
  17. Greeting fellow reefers, My name is David Kendrick, my wife (Amanda Kingsbury) and I live up the Columbia Gorge near Hood River, We both have enjoyed the Aquarium hobby for many years, and only recently finally chose to give reef tanks a try. We are always trying to learn anything we can, this is a fantastic hobby with great people, so far we have been having a lot of fun. As of right now we just have two tanks setup, a 40g and a 15g, and itching to set up a bigger one. We have a little of everything, SPS, LPS, Softies, Zoa's, Clams...I am the kind of person that will give anything a try, I have found somethings I am great at keeping while others not so much..lol After visiting many of the local reef shops, they kept asking me if I was a Member of PNWMAS...(scratch) So I looked them up, and am thrilled to be part of this online community. I look forward to learning from you all, and sharing pics of my living creatures. Here are a few to get started...
