  1. I think this is a great idea, a great way to show how tight this community of Coral Fanatics are, its a great way to show how awesome PNWMAS is...I am all for it.....if the BOD give the green light to do it, I think there should be a seperate post about it, so everyone who might miss this thread, knows about it...and comes to the meeting prepaired to buy some raffle tickets for a great cause...(rock2) Frags from TECO and Premium Aquarium....(clap)....how could anyone go wrong with buying a raffle ticket or two..(or three or four)....
  2. The striped variety seems the most common, then the solid green, blue and the most rare ones seem to be the solid red. I normally see the striped ones and the solid green, OIAB sometimes have some, and might be able to get the color want, I have seen the Green ones depeding on size go for $100-$150...Blues can be up to $300 and the reds I have seen go up to $500-$800 depending on size. Every once and while you will find someone that is needing to rehome thier carpets and you can find the more rare ones for much less. I would love to get another one someday, but my last one grew so fast I had to rehome it....they are super cool showpeices though...Post pics if you get one.
  3. Do I smell a group buy? I would buy 3 polyps, but don't want to have the cost more than double for shipping, but if a few people where interested and wanted to split the shipping cost, I would be down for ordering 3 polyps...just throwing that out there....(whistle)
  4. They almost look like some type of Magicians...very cool! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=162438197144326&set=a.110446202343526.16473.100001344395766&theater
  5. I would be interested in the Squamosa, but I don't know how I would get it, I am going to the meeting next sunday....(scratch)
  6. WOW!!! Looking REALLY good! What kind of lighting do you have, I really like the look it gives....So many things I am jealous of...(drooler)..Great then and now comparison, I love seeing how tanks progress, keep up the good work!(rock2)
  7. Hmmm...interesting...how big is it?(plotting) Cool, I guess its a wait and see where it goes and feels comforatble...I don't plan on changing the flow in this tank... I am also curious as to why some you see are nice and bulbousy, and others tend to get long more stringy type tenticles? is there a lighting preference or flow preference ot keep them short and bulbous...or do most elongate in captivity?
  8. So I was given a little Tomato Clownfish and I have him in a 33 long, I would love to get an anemone for it, and read that they will take to Bubble tips, I was curious how hardy they are? I know there are quite a few people that have them, do they tend to move around a whole lot? My only experience with anemones are with Carpets...so this will be new to me, and I was looking for some advice from those who have kept Bubble tips... Should I get another Tomato and have a pair of them with it? I hesitate to do so in fear that having two in the tank might cause them to be more agressive than if there was just one with an anemone....What kind of flow do they tend to like in your expereince? I am mainly concerned about them moving around the tank a bunch, are there tricks to getting them to stay put? The Tomato I have is about an inch in lench, just a little guy...still not sure if I want to go the Anemone route, so I was looking for some pro's and con's and advice from those who have kept them.. The Red variety seems to be more expensive correct? which is weird as I tend to see more people have the red kind, I don't see the green variety very often for sale or in peoples tanks...I was personally thinking of going the green route as I thought it would be a nice contrast to the tomato clowns which is more solid red coloration, but it seems at least locally I tend to find the reds more available...are the reds more hardy? or just more popular? Thanks in advance...
  9. Cool display with a bunch of Lionfish.. Big coldwater Anemone, that was in with a BIG octopus, they fed it just seconds before I snapped the picture, you can see what looks like a chunk of squid or something in its grasp...that was pretty cool... One of the many shark tanks... My wife Amanda...Notice all the fake corals in the tank...I couldn't help but laugh out loud...prior to keeping corals I probably would have though it was the coolest thing ever, but now, its just pathetic...lol Funny picture....this guy was in one of the tanks with what looked like a pressure washer and he was trying to clean a huge fake tabling acropora...it was all rubbery and covered with algea....it was funny....at least to me, so I snapped a picture.. The cool Tunnels where the sharks would swim over the top of you... The main room surrounded by viewing windows, lots of fish and sharks here...
  10. So I just got back from meeting some freinds in Las Vegas and one of the things I wanted to do was to check out the Shark Reef Aquarium at the Madalay Bay Casino/Hotel, I was not all that overally impressed with it, I guess for a few reasons, I know the title of the aquarium is "Shark Reef" and the focus was on sharks, but I was hoping for more realistic aquariums, now that I have had a "reef tank" I guess it has scewed my idea of what a "Reef" should look like...lol, they used fake rubber/plastic corals in thier tanks, and I just couldn't help but be distracted by how ugly they where, covered with algea...I was hoping for more marine life, but it was worth the visit while I was there I guess. Anyway, here are a few crappy pics.... When you walk in, you first encounter the reptiles, I didn't post pics of those (I can if people want to see them) but then you move to the Freshwater aquariums, which where pretty cool, lots of HUGE fish in those, and pretty cool displays... Then one of the main rooms has a shallow lagoon with Stingrays... And Jelly Fish And if you look closely, you can see one of the aquarium staff feeding the jellyfish with a syringe full of small shrimp...
  11. Forgive me if I missed the eVite to this meeting, and I know its next sunday, how would I be able to RSVP to this? is there a link to the eVite that I can confirm that "yes I am going"?
  12. Unbelievable....truely a sad day for FM radio...Upon doing a quick search for "what happened to KUFO 101.1 Portland Oregon".....I found this amoung others... http://www.kufo.com/ http://salem-news.com/articles/march152011/kufo-shutdown_bk.php
  13. WHOA...That is too weird, we just got back from Vegas today and comming home I found the same thing, got back to econo parking and started my car and was like, wait a minute, is this 101.1 KUFO???? I don't know what happened, but IT SUCKED!!! I don't get the station where I live, only when I am in portland, but as soon as we are close to portland I turn to it, I too am curious what is going on with it. By the way, where did you stay....we where there from Sunday till today, just got back....it was such nice weather, sunny and 80+...and when the pilot stated this morning that it was like 40 something and raining, my heart sank...I didn't want to leave...Too bad I didn't know you where there too, it would have been cool to meet up and have a drink or something... I am going to start a new thread of a couple of pics of the Shark Reef exhibit that is at the Mandaley Bay....
  14. Update, Arrived with only one little 1" branch broken, which is cool as I had thought about fragging one anyway as a backup just incase this thing starts into RTN. I think its a pretty cool peice, unique....I look forward to when it is in full polyp extension, and showing all its glory.... This is shortly after aclimation and placement in the tank...REALLY ****ed off.. A few hours later, showing some good sign of polyps, looking better, I am looking forward to seeing it in a few days or weeks after its adjusted to the water parameters and lighting...Here's hoping for the best!
  15. You ever hit the Portland Metro Reptile Expo? There are quite a few people that are really into Darts, some amazingly beautiful setups too. I personally haven't kept frogs, but I for sure admire thier beauty. Awesome to see another Herpetoculturists/Aquaculturists on here.....
  16. I didn't say anything as I knew what he ment, I only wish Radiums made a 250w DE, I would buy stock in the company if that where the case, I think the would be INSANELY popular and probably the best selling bulb next to Phoenix...
  17. Dude...I had to try and really figure that one out...Didn't get it at first...."Dudum Dssh".... Good One..(laugh)
  18. My brother in law lives in Hawaii, and they mentioned something about a Tsunami warning there too, anyone heard from Aloha Corals lately? I hope he is ok...
  19. Sad to see that tank go, it was amazingly beautiful, but super excited for you and your future ventures, I have no doubt that in no time you'll have just as beautiful of a tank but MUCH BIGGER!!..lol... can't help but think of that cheezy saying the LA Fish Guys (Jim Stime Jr.) always says "Keep Moving Forward"....lol Tell me the Purple and yellow Scroll made the transition...that thing was awesome and one my favorites of your tank...
  20. I can't wait to check it out, its going to be a LONG week...I have never been there, and Im excited to check it out!
