I've never heard of a cleaner wrasse. Has anybody else? What types do cleaning? I thought the only things that cleans the tangs are those cleaner shrimp

I've been fortunate as well for hitchhikers....let's see what have I gotten? I've gottena nice 4" (leg to leg) chocolate brittle star(thanks Brandon), a small reef safe lobster(thanks Tim), zoas, snails, some kind of monti, ricordia, and some Kenya trees(Tim). Fortunately nothing bad yet!! I bought one of those colonies from Tim at Westside and he noticed a small unknown type of crab wedged inside the one I was going to buy and he asked me if I wanted him? I said hell NO! I don't like unknowns in my tank!!! LOL

If anybody wants to do a group buy, I'm would definitely want to be in in it!

Looks like the stuff that was on mine. Get some asterina snails. 50 of them took care of the problem for me in my 210. It took about a week and a half before the algae is gone. If it's on the sand, do you notice any bubbles? Could be Dinoflagelletes which I went through as well. I think mine was caused by the tank naturally cycling since it's a relatively new tank(3 months) and most of it has gone away now.

I thought about putting in a herbie method, but it seemed like it took too much room with that extra pipe in there and you figure you don't want to drill an extra hole in there. Or am I confusing that method with another?

Not sure how you made the top, but you need to adjust the air intake to allow for slightly more air in. I made mine with holes drilled through the cap and tube so that I could adjust the air by turning the cap in either direction, thereby limiting or increasing the amount of air going in. If all the holes are open and it was still producing the same toilet sounds, all I had to do was drill another hole in the side and turn to adjust. By your last comment, I'm assuming you just took the old standpipe and put it on the new tank? Just because the air requirements were calibrated in the old tank doesn't mean it'll be calibrated for a new tank with different length of drop into the sump. Hope that helps

Is it possible to buy them without a controller to get a even cheaper price? The only reason I ask is it seems you only should need one controller if you need multiple Vortechs since they can controll multiple ones. Also, how many is the group buy short in order to get this price?

Is the bulkhead on the top a good idea because it allows for overflow issues?

Got a great deal on a used MP40W that I just couldn't pass up without kicking myself and regretting it later even if it meant having to make sacrifices in the short term. All I have to say is DANG!! This sucker puts out a lot of flow!!! I had to turn it down some and my tank is 6' long. I think I'll gradually turn it up more as my tank inhabitants get used to the extra flow and I can gradually tinker with the best placement of it in my tank. I think just one of these would be enough for anything below 100 Gallon. Have to admit these they are sweet......too bad they are so expensive!!! It'll be a while before I can afford to replace my other K4 with another MP40W!

There are nudis that eat Aptasia. They are called berghia nudibranch and are usually readily available. Only problem is they will die once you run out aptasia to feed them. So if your conscience can stand the guilt, you have your answer =)
