  1. Can you slap on some Kalk on it to kill it???
  2. Did all your macro die Brian???? I thought you always had a boat load of it?
  3. Does anybody know what to use to kill off some Palys? I've never done it before, but I hear they are really hard to get rid of once they start spreading. I hear they are similar to mushrooms and Kenya trees where if even a few cells are remaining, they will regenerate. I have a rock that has some on it that I would like to keep free of any Palys so that they don't sting any of my SPS that I have growing on there. If anybody wants some, I would be happy to give some away(the Palys, not the rock:D) They are the dark green type that I think are pretty common. I would much rather my other rock be overgrown with my Armor of the Gods!(laugh) I would appreciate any ideas.
  4. Does anybody have any ORA Pearlberry that they would be willing to sell a frag of??
  5. I'm pretty certain they don't use mercury for thermometers anymore. If it was red liquid then it was alcohol
  6. Yes, it is. But I would love to see a picture of yours as well. I really like the Tri-colors and wouldn't mind getting another piece if it's nice looking.

  12. I have some ORA Hyacinth birdsnest that I could frag a piece off of if you want. Since we both live in Beaverton, your free to come by and pick it up whenever. Give me a call if you want some. I should be back home by 5:30 most days so any day is fine. My phone number is 5417603341
  13. I know world of wet pets here in Beaverton has some
  14. Did the company at least give you a severance package??
  15. I have at least 10 in my tank I think.......weird little suckers. Although I like them better than the ones that hide in the tubes similar to the feather duster tubes. I hate all that mucous they let out to capture food in the water column
  16. Yeah, telling your family is never a great time. I kept it from my parents for over a month before I told them. I had a friend wait till he got a new job(2 month) before he told his. Good luck and hope you find something soon. I know how nerve wrecking it is, especially with a baby on the way and no insurance. I got laid off my first job 3 months after my first was born but thank goodness I had some support from my family that was willing to help me out financially if I didn't find anything quickly. If you need anything, let me know.
  17. Is there anywhere where you can buy standards to test against??? I want to know how off my alk and calcium tests are and then adjust for them when I get the reading. Does anybody know if the tests are linear as in if your API tests reads 10 on ALK for a 7.2 standard you can therefore deduct 2.8 off all your readings in the future to get your correct value?
  18. Talk to Garrett. He's had good success in getting them to eat frozen food.
  19. wow those are big plugs! Perfect for encrusting montis!
  20. Yes, you could mix it in the tank if you haven't added the sand yet. If you've added the sand already, I don't think you would want to mix it in there since you would want a pump to agitate the water which would kick up a lot of sand and dust which might clog your pump. I have a 32 Gallon trash can(I would suggest getting a 50 if you have the room) to store and mix the water in. I just use a old Rio 3200? pump I had laying around to mix the salt. I really don't think you need anything really powerful as a MAG-18 pump to mix water. A little overkill in my opinion. I'm thinking of doing more frequent and smaller water changes so I might mix it in my bucket in the future which wouldn't be too hard. I know markdadof2 does that.
  21. I hear those Mantis shrimp hit so hard that they could actually shatter the glass on some thinner glass tanks
  22. Believe me when I say this since I went through what you are thinking of doing. Don't buy the water!!!! I tried to fill a 220 Gallon tank when I set up my tank in November and it was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much trouble even when the store was 15 minutes away. Just mix the water yourself. Believe me, after the first 2 or 3 trips, you'll really regret thinking of buying it. But that's just my opinion after trying to do the same thing. I ended up borrowing a RO/DI unit from Twitterbait here and mixing my own for the last 100 Gallons. I know it's a little worrisome starting off your first tank and you want to start it off right, but it really isn't that hard, plus you'll have to do it sooner or later. Might as well work out the bugs mixing stuff now while there isn't any livestock in there than to do it when there is. The worse you could do now is to make it too salty and it wouldn't hurt anything. I'm sure people here would be willing to lend you their RO/DI unit if you asked. On another note, just because you buy the water doesn't make it better because the store you buy from might be using inferior salt which would cause you the same problems you were trying to avoid in the first place.

    Chalice identification

Wow, if he doesn't want it, I would love a piece off of it. Looks kind of cool!
  24. I doubt it would be water chemistry related if it died so suddenly without any previous symptoms. My guess is it has to be a predator. Nothing could eat up a whole fish like that in less than an hour unless it was taking big chunks out of it's prey.
  25. Hey Frank, Did you ever get this fixed? LOL It's like not knowing the end to a good mystery or suspense novel............NOT.........I'm just nosy is all. LOL
