  1. Perfect. I'll just pick up a used one from Mark. Thanks everybody!
  2. Since pickling limewater is supposed to be the same as Kalk, do you just go to the store and pick up some limewater and drip it directly into the sump or do you need to dilute/mix it with regular RO water first? For those people that mix Kalk with your RO water to top off their tanks, doesn't the different pH difference between your tank water and the RO water with Kalk cause too drastic a shock to the inhabitants of the tank? I was also wondering, for those that add Kalk to their top off water, how much Kalk do you put into the water when mixing?
  3. Does anybody know where you can pick up a precise syringe to do vodka dosing with??? I believe the ones with a metal needle require a prescription.
  4. Does anybody know if they have a free shipping threshold ? I thought I read somewhere they did. Was thinking about getting the 2 part supplement for ~$70 but the shipping was like ~$25!
  5. I might be interested. Please let me know what the price ends up being
  6. Not to highjack the thread, but how does a Kalk do that the calcium reactor doesn't? I thought both were just a means to getting calcium to the right amount?
  7. Could you post your phone number to arrange a time?
  8. Well I guess my PH meter wasn't calibrated correctly(I should write a nasty note to Milwaukee about bad calibration coming out of the factory(threaten)). Before I recalibrated the meter, it was reading 8.7/8.8 on the meter. After I recalibrated the meter, it was reading 7.9!!! Talk about waaaay off! Plus when I used my test tube kit, it was reading between about 8.4 or 8.8(talk about too big of step on the measuring scale). I guess that's what I get for using API test kits(flame)! I'll never use that one again! So now I have two tests I won't be using out the kits.......nitrite and PH. Anybody want them for free????(whistle) I'll be sure to pick up some Elos testing kits at my next earliest convenience
  9. Does anybody know where you can buy a MAG 2 or 3 pump locally????
  10. Was this buy offered only for members? I don't recall seeing the organizing thread
  11. I'm not an expert by any means, but have you thought about putting the food(not sure what type of food you feed or in what shape/form you have it in) for the clown on one seaweed clip and have another clip farther away for the new fish? At least that would allow it to feed an perhaps not have the clown spook it from coming up to feed. Then you can gradually train it to get used to you Just and idea
  12. I think he is located in Oregon City as indicated underneath his avatar
  13. yeah, Wanareef builds lot of stuff. He's building me a calcium reactor as well!
  14. Looks like I found one. Thanks everybody
  15. Can you PM me an estimate of how much it would cost?? If I did get it, I would probably just get the whole setup. Probably without media though and of course the tank would be empty
  16. Can't recall off the top of my head since I'm at work. I'll try to post it tonight. I'm going to try both a digital reading and a test tube reading and see if I get the same result since I don't have time to go to a LFS to get some calibration fluid today. Not sure how precise the test tube reading will be though
  17. Nope, no Kalk. As I mentioned in my original post, I did put some supplement in on Monday morning but it was creeping up some even before then. To the best of my knowledge, none of my rock is concrete and all of it was cured when I got it.
  18. So I've been noticing a gradual increase in my PH lately. It's risen from 8.3 to 8.6/8.7 both before the lights in the morning and before the lights go out. I checked my Alkalinity and it's a 7dKH and a Calcium level of 380-400 range. Didn't have any time to check the Ammonia and Nitrates since I was in the middle of some other stuff. Does anybody have any idea what it might be that's causing the high PH? Supposedly 8.1-8.3 is supposedly ideal with 8.5 being the higher end you want to hit from what I've read. Should I be concerned about the reading? I'm using a brand new digital PH reader by Milwaukee if I remember correctly. Supposedly they are calibrated when shipped. I don't have much in the tank yet. Just a few clown, yellow tang, lobster, and Soho Tang along with the usual clean up crew. As for corals, I just introduced some frogspawn, frag of pulsing xenia, and a birdsnest frag this last Sunday. The polyps on the birdsnest are extended and the frogspawn and xenia are doing their normal behavior. I've also had an anemone in there for about 3 weeks now and he's doing great. If anything, lately he's been really opening up and vibrant with all his tentacles bubbled up and spread out all over the rock and clinging to it really well if that's an indication of anything. Haven't seen him this happy since I bought him actually. I added a two part supplement in to the water on Monday but that was to take care of some low calcium and the PH was already creeping up already before that. The tank is a 220 Gallon and I will probably do a water change of 10 gallons over the weekend to spread out my water changes and do them every other week and not have to do 30 gallon changes every 3 or 4 weeks.
  19. Does anybody know if Kent salt has a similar particulate issue?
  20. How high does the tank go? I only have only so much room underneath the tank unfortunately otherwise I would be trying so many cool things. Do you have a regulator for it?
