what do you normally transport your corals in?

So today I added a rio 90 to my hydro one. I did confine the out take though just a bit. it seems to be filtering a lot better already and the clowns arent having any trouble with it. Last night I did a really good clean because I was sick for a few days and my husband fed for me only flakes and a bit got on the bottom. My tank is just finishing its cycle I believe. nitrates are going down. I added grape culurpa today and seven snails to try to clean the bottom of my tank.. hears a pic.. oh ya my babys are about a bit bigger than a half inch. but they are still hard to see because I havent taken the black off the tank yet, but they are beautiful... If you look closely U might be able to spot some.. They have taking a liking to my pcv pipe and some are hiding by the new grape culurpa.Im not sure where they are myself, so you might have to play wheres waldo. Ill have kenya tree corals and some hairy mushrooms and yellow zoos and who knows what else

So can I bring some frags Id like to get rid of to the meeting. I have tons of yellow zoos and lots of kenya tree corals and who knows what else. They are just taking up my t ank room. Id be willing to give away my tree corals. would that be ok to bring?

I WILL BE THERE AT THE MEETING ON THE 16TH OF THIS MONTH I WAS THINKING THAT i MIGHT DONATE ONE OF MY BABYS AFTER THEY ARE OLD ENOUGH OF COURSE TO SOMEONE AT PNWMAS. 'CAUSE I am just breeding them for my benefit and not to really sell them. And with my time and energy I don't want them to go to a bad home and be killed or eaten. I'd feel horrible.....

I heard you were having the meeting there next month. If you weren't so far away and I didn't have to work I'd be there.. Though I never blacked out all four sides just three. So I could see when I cleaned... and watch them change tummy colors. The clown fishes book said you could do that. However yoou have done more than I... so maybe you can get a better survival rate with all four side blacked out...

Id get a book on the subject.. I recomend a book by Joyce.. and Cant remeber her last name.. ask barecuda.. Its called clownfishes Im at work or id look for you.. You need about a ten gallon tank and rotifers.. it works great if you can put a clay pot in the tank or a tile for them to lay their eggs on.. you have to black out the three sides of the tank. with black poster board news paper etc.. dont recemend you painting it. But there is just so much Id get the book.. It's more detailed.. they are fairly easy. though down be suprised if the first batch dies or the second. it's a learning experence. the way I look at it. in the wild none of the eggs would have had lived or maybe just one so if you can get a couple to live thats great. I've done everything word for word and they have died and other times they do just great.. I have had the tank over heat and a ammonia spike problem. just talk to barecuda.. In the end it was worth it and I have these beautiful end results. One day ill have to get rid of them and I know I will be saddened. they are my great accomplishment and just like a kid to me.

So I know that a clown fish is first born a juviniel boy then in a tank he can remain juviniel or becomes alfa male and that also he can change into alfa female. but in each tank there can be many juvieniels but only one alfa male and female. So heres the question.... How long does it take for a juvieniel to transition from one to another. till alfa male gets female parts? Has any one ever document this? Does it matter of what breed the clown is? Has anyone ever contiplated this before? I know I never did.. till today when I was telling my niece how the clowns work and at her very young age she asked me. I told her I didn't know. However I am now on the quest for knowledge

i have about 12. though thats good because I had a bbs crash and they got put on sieveed flakes formula one and spirila... though they are a bit bigger or a quarter of an inch. are they about the right size? Also they got put on frozen bbs

[ATTACH]7777[/ATTACH] [ATTACH]7778[/ATTACH] just an update I got the tank set up now for grow out. almost cycled.. just barely have nitrates now.... Just 5ppm and here's a pic of my grow out tank. the babys are hidding in the corner so they didn't make it in the pic.. However after an hour of them dodging my camera I finaly got a picture of shadow, my favorite fish... I just think they are camera shy... They are now twenty days old and all on flakes... [ATTACH][ATTACH]7866[/ATTACH][/ATTACH] also I made the fake anemone out if nylon weed wacker twine. that way they can learn what an anemone is. I got pcv pipe 3/4"-1/2" so they can hide in it. also I took a dead coral and a small rock with no crevices into the tank from one of my other tanks to help cycle the grow out tank.. I am using a hydo 1 filter powered my an air line. the sponge was seasoned in the back of one of my tanks for about a week, so that it too can help cycle the tank... I do about a ten percent water change every day now...

Its a long tenacle I have one that looks the same. Huge too. my false perculas just love it. also known as a cork screw anemone I believe. they are tanish brown with a white stipe down each tenacle. they like to foot on the bottom of the tank and rarely has mine ever wondered. they aren't known as rock climbers. also not too agressive. mine is touching a rbta and they dont seem to care. had mine for three years now. easy to maintain

Well my babys are now rounder like a clown and are black with two stripes.. yaa.. today is day ten for them...... I have a handfull of babys... The only thing is my baby brine didn't hatch on time like I thought they would. This is bad because clown fish fry can't eat bbs more than a day old, or they will surely die. I have been giving them dry food, until I can go get some from this guy I know tommorrow... I just can't believe either of my baby brine hatched yet. Day 13. still no bbs today, however I have been doubling up on rotifers and have been feeding a mixture of pulverized flakes. one of spirila, and the other formula one. they seem to be going after the flakes well now. I see a couple bbs hatching so I think I might be ok. The baby clowns have a black body and a pink face and tummy and two white stripes. I have named one shadow. he likes to follow me around in the tank. it just seems I am having no luck decycsting my bbs eggs. I have followed the instructions in the joyce clownfishes book word for word... Though how do I know the tomatos are big enough for the filter. the book was very vage about this. see they have been change for a day or two so I think they are at post metemorphice. They are a 1/4 inch in size now.. any help on that. I have a hydo 1 filter for that tank. Should I season the foam of the filter in a tank for a while before I put it in the tank. given that I am using the tank as their grow out tank... the book suggests getting snails for the tank to clean it and maybe a crab. what kind of snails and whats your opinions on crabs? I dont want the crabs going after dear and beloved shadow....
