holy smokes, day two without power! I was going to get a generator, but I just bought a Tesla. So I ordered a 1000W inverter than I can hook up to the 12V terminals on the car that is supposedly powered by a 2000W+ 24V to 12V DC transformer. So the idea of having an 82kW hour battery was one of the "pluses" of buying a Tesla. That was supposed to arrive Friday but didn't. So I'm playing with fire but hopefully we're out of the woods after tonight.

Recently moved across town and about 7 mins away from C&C. Needed a new tank for the new house and found this system on Facebook marketplace. Turns out it was one of Jeff’s commercial accounts at one point. Some tanks get around. 😄 It’s about 90% setup (at least the main tank) so figure it’s time to share esp since we’re all snowed in. The tank has been up and running for about 5 weeks now with established from from my old waterbox 50 (posting that for sale next), with a 9x14 pyrex baking dish of sand from the old tank. Some GHA just wouldn't die on the old rock and seems to be coming back from the dead. Hopefully tang food. This is not a first by any means and I copied this from other builds. What I have not seen before and am excited about are the magnets I used to hold the panel in place. So if I need to access the wiring I can just pull on the false wall and it pops out. Probably been done before, but magnets are always cool. Anyway, photos are more fun to lookup so lookee here.

Ha! Don’t get me started on stonks. IS the fed printing finally inflating frag and fish prices?? ... used car prices are going up faster than I can keep up with.

In hindsight I should have ordered as many as they had in stock 😅But I also read some people think a 110gallon isn’t big enough for one 🤔

Well I didn’t want to post a price because these things seem to be as hot at Bitcoin lately. What if it’s only for trade right now? I’d much rather trade it honestly but if nothing interesting floats along I’d consider selling it. Looking for cool torches or sps. Or a Powder blue tang.

Story time: The day Hawaii announced tangs would not be exported I immediately ordered a pair of Biota aquacultured yellow tangs for my new reefer 525XL. I never owned a tank of this size and as such never owned a yellow tang and saw my plans for finally having this fish about to get very expensive or nonexistent. I didn’t know much about yellow tangs and saw multiple in other tanks before so it never occurred to be two might be an issue, esp two juveniles from the same fry into a tank at the same time - it was not. It’s been over a week now and the weaker one has made a full recovery but I’m getting tired of the eggcrate divider in the tank. What I’d really like are some exotic frag(s) or reef safe fish, but I would consider cash too. Looking for: Powder blue tang OG Bounce gold/blue torches CSB - I can dream can't I? maybe larger gyre pumps - icecap 4k I'm into SPS too but with the new tank I'm a little trigger shy on those so far. Need to get the calcium reactor up and running.

Ah. If you want to sell your CaRx setup I could be interested. My new setup is a reefer 525 xl in my living room with a a fish room / frag tank in the garage. Still working on the frag tank plumbing. Will be posting up build thread soon.

Why did you go from CaRx to 2-part? I'm considering going the opposite way. Edit:: Specifically, because I have an Apex now, I can monitor pH and therefore the cost of a Ca Rx setup has been lowered.

Hah, I assume you were nudging me 🙂 So I have my reefer 525 setup at the new house, but it came with a skimmer, albeit a pretty basic one. The pump has is super loud so I just ordered a new impeller. If that doesn't fix the vibration issue, I just might take you up on this.

Will have the livestock out in about a week. it’s in great condition. There is one small (and shallow) 1/2in scratch in the glass on the front pane that is hardly visible when filled. It is hardly noticeable from standing height, you have to get down lower and look upwards and look for it to see it. I never noticed it, then one day I found it and was a little disappointed, but never noticed it again and haven’t thought about it since. There could be some smaller ones at sand bed level but I haven’t removed the sand yet to check. Asking price will be $350
