  1. I told you I would post up a pick of Moby once he settled in. My vlamingi wasn't impressed at first but now they are getting along great! Thanks again and thanks Robert for giving him up
  2. Cos at OIAB just broke down his large display tank and mentioned that I should put the 24" zebra eel in my reef, lol. I had thought of it in the past but never had the stones to do it. I have many prized fish and would be devastated if he went rogue on them. I decided to go for it and now this guy is living happily in my reef. I was worried for the first couple of days or so but then I saw something funny... My juvi queen angel during feeding swam right up to its face and tail whipped it! It was pretty funny and knowing that these eels are essentially blind it appears the fish have absolutely nothing to worry about. Anybody else have something not exactly reef safe in their reef? I tried a harlequin file fish about 6 months ago but after loosing a strawberry shortcake and purple monster colony I called it quits and removed it (laugh)
  3. This tank is still available according to chris the owner, he will chime in soon. what questions did you have about the tank? (I built the tank)
  4. Most clams can handle nem stings... I have a 18" or so gigas clam that has a rose BTA attatched to its side directly and they are both doing fine!
  5. All my hobbies revolve around water, saltwater reef, 80mph waverunners, and SUP (stand up paddle boarding)

  10. Ok before everyone goes crazy.... I told cos to hook Bo up with whatever he wanted and I would take care of him with corals in return. I didn't tell Bo I did this so it was quite a surprise to him lol. Cos is a great guy though as just a quick txt message and he was willing to hook my friend up! Sorry for starting the rumor mill about the store closing or cos going crazy (laugh)
  11. If anyone has a male vlamingi (with streamers) getting too large for their system please let me know, I would like to purchase him. I would like to get my 12"+ female a friend but want to make sure I get her a male. Thanks! Mike
  12. They are incredibly hard to find once you put them in! I put about 20 in my system and never saw them again. This coupled with my copperband erraticated them but I never caught even the slightest glimpse of them after they went in.
  13. Are you ever in the Portland area?
  14. I ran about a liter of pellets in my 500 gallon(aprox) system for over a year. I really didn't notice a large decrease in nitrate drop... and after about 6 months I got fed up and started vinegar/vodka dosing. A month of ramping up to some pretty large numbers and my nitrates had really come down. About that time I started a sulfer nitrate reactor. Danik had one and it was pushing out 0 nitrates constantly for months on end without any real maintenance so I built a larger version for my tank. Within a couple of months of cycling I was pushing out a steady stream of 0 nitrate water! I let it run for over a year with absolutely no maintenance until I decided to clean all of the detritus that had settled in the reactor over the year out (I don't filter the water prior to entering the reactor). My nitrates went up to 25-50 within a week! The reactor quickly cycled back up and I am continuing to put out nitrate free water with 30-40 fish, some of them pretty large. I pulled the pellets out of my system after the nitrate reactor cycled and I haven't looked back. I think the sulfer reactor is one of the easiest and best pieces of equipment I have put on my tank. Mike
  15. roy I have a bunch of small pieces on my frag rack, you can have a piece for free if you would like. I have a large colony that has been getting encrusted by a monti so I've had to cut a bunch out of it. Mike
  16. I'd have to disagree with this one, as long as your alk is STABLE you can have a successful sps system. My alk runs about 7 most of the time and I wish some of my sps grew slower, lol. What kind of fish are in the system? I rarely see any polyp extension in many of my corals... but the 11 angels in the tank may have something to do with that
  17. Thats good! You getting out on the water lately? I built a 80mph ski this winter and its pretty fun to ride! We should get out on the water sometime this summer
  18. let me know the next time you are heading up to seattle and i'll let you know if I'm home so you can stop by. later Mike
  19. Hey bo, I've got my 2 MP40s running on my tank. I cant take them off but if you wanted to bring your dryside over here and plug it in to see if it works that would be fine. Mike
