  1. Don't forget Andy... the trick to these is all in the proper light cycle - 6 months on full, 6-months total darkness! I have also found that keeping them outside on the porch in mid winter helps maintain that pearly white sheen. Good luck!
  2. (laugh)(laugh) Pretty funny Curtis! Word of advice from an comparatively old person - if you want to make it to 24, don't forget her b-day!!!
  3. Man... you guys have some tough worms! Making me kind of nervous to stick my hands in the tank anymore... the mystery crab was bad enough! I already get smacked all the time by my overly protective Maroon clown... (threaten)
  4. Ah... drywall dust, one of my personal favorites. Don't forget to turn the furnace off while you are at it!
  5. Happy (belated) b-day to you too Blaine! Better late than never right
  6. Hey - happy b-day Curtis! Here is wishing you a whole lot of dead red bugs!
  7. Wow... sorry to hear that. I was hoping that more of those would pull through for you. Quite the experience... hopefully they know to contact you in the future if there is another outage. Bummer.
  8. The clowns will probably go crazy trying to decide which one to host! This one, no wait, that one, no wait... how about the one over there (nutty) Congrats on the RBTA success Dennis! I'm not nearly brave enough to start cutting mine up.
  9. Let me know if you decide not to keep the pH probe - I wouldn't mind hooking up another to monitor tank pH as my current one is on the CA reactor. After reading through this thread I feel like running home to check the current capacity on my power strip!
  10. Very interesting... I haven't noticed a problem on the Aquatronica controller I just set up and I do have one plug controlling nothing but a case fan via temperature. Makes me wonder though... I may have to take a closer look at that. It does sound like adding additional current load may be a way to solve the problem - if one has other devices that you might want to control on the same cycle that is. Thanks for the info guys!

    Snail id?

Yeah - I picked some up from them last time they had a shipment. Pretty cool and very active. I didn't know about the flip over problem though (scratch)
  12. C'mon Mark! You get us all riled up and then you cut us off! How am I supposed to entertain myself today now that I can't give you guff about your tank readings??? BTW - why did you tank the tank back in? Get some additional mods done?
  13. Thanks for all details Mike - your design work on this whole system is really sweet. I got confused by that one pic in the garage though as the tank was roughly in the same spot so I thought you had converted the whole space around it DOH! Although... by the time you managed to haul all that gear upstairs, you probably wish you had!
  14. That is an awesome setup Mike! Thanks for the extra picks of the "in progress". Not only did you did you do a kicking job on the tank, it looks like you created that entire room out of what was a garage! Man... I have a few projects around the house I could use some help with
  15. Hey Mark - the graphs show up for me as well... pretty darn slick! That pH spike is pretty dramatic, is that your lights kicking on? I can't remember if you run a reverse light cycle refg. or not. I have always heard that they help stabalize pH swings so it would be interesting to see if that would affect this. Nice thing about being able to capture/store this kind of data - you can actually do some experiments and not just guess at the results. Anyway... I'm jealous!
  16. Wow! Sweet tank Mike! The cabinetry looks really sharp and those are some beautiful fish in there. The Morish Idol looks like he is settling in well. I would love to see some shots of the rest of the setup once you figure out that camera... maybe you better go give him a hand Andy
  17. Thanks Dennis, I will probably do that and take your number with me just in case... can't hurt to have a back-up for the back-up where tanks are concerned. I appreciate it! Sean
  18. OK... that is pretty funny (laugh)(laugh)
  19. Hey all, I was wondering if anyone was willing to be an emergency contact for our pet sitter while we are out of town the week of Monday April 20th through Saturday the 25th. The sitter will feed the cats and fish and keep an eye on the tank but they are not really knowledgeable about it. So... if anyone would be willing to be a contact for them in case of emergency that would be awesome. We should still be available by phone but just in case it may take a trained set of eyes/ears to trouble shoot on the spot... Thanks! Sean
  20. Welcome on board Racefan and TAD!
  21. Welcome back Garrett - seems like you never left! Sounds like a great plan. It will be interesting to see how it will go without having a "display" tank in the traditional sense of the word. You may end up with a lot of "mini" displays instead which, when you think about it, could allow you to do a lot of things you couldn't otherwise in terms of incompatible species, custom lightning conditions etc. Other than not having room for really large specimens of fish, it could work our really well. I often wish I had the room for a series of smaller tanks plumbed together in that manner so will be curious to hear how it works out. Good luck and keep us posted!
  22. Good luck Curtis, Shawn and Miles - hope you guys beat back the bugs with minimal losses. And Jason, don't even mention monti-eating nudis!
