  1. Hey Jason - if you are asking about the Rainsford, I believe the answer is yes to both. I have had a couple over the years and both were very peaceful tankmates and didn't bother anything else in the tank that I ever saw. They often have them in the display tank at Soutas' with all there SPS so I don't think they are likely to cause any problems. A really nice fish in my opinion. I would be careful and try to make sure you get one that is eating at the LFS though.
  2. Hmm... still works for me. If you google it there should be several examples that come up. Sorry that one isn't working for everyone. (scratch)
  3. How about a Rainsford Goby? Cool little fish - looks like a Hectors but better color (in my opinion anyway). http://www.geocities.com/z28shawn/rainsford.jpg
  4. Wow biker, this makes my head hurt! Question, when you were switching the the plugs on the right unit back on, did you do so one by one? That way, you should at least be able to identify the major culprit. Some of the varying voltages are confusing to say the least (including the increase you are seeing when you switch off the korallia) but it sounds like at least one device is leaking current into the tank and there may be something funky going on with one of the power strips as well. Unfortunately, it's been way too long since my physics classes to come up with a reasonable explanation for you. Any electricians out there???
  5. Sorry Eric, I can't recall anything else that is particularly useful. Good luck with the garlic, I will keep my fingers crossed for the clowns!
  6. If I remember the highlights from the previous thread, several people had luck using garlic supplements in order to encourage feeding to keep the fish's strength up and boost their immune systems without removing the fish from the main tank. I would recommend taking a look at those posts for some more specific references.
  7. Looks like a distinct possibility from the pics. Hopefully some others will chime in as well since I am not an expert by any means. The good news - from my experience anyway - is that fish can recover from ich without quarantine if you can keep them eating well and non-stressed. The other thread has some ideas on that.
  8. Sorry to hear about the clowns (and the other fish). There is a recent thread here http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10504 that goes into some detail on the possible treatment scenarios for ich if you want to read through them... there are a couple of different perspectives represented. Good luck - I hope they recover!
  9. Looks fantastic Mike! Seems like most things made it through the move in good shape. I love those huge cap colonies... that green & purple one was one of my favorites when it was Garrett's tank.
  10. Hey Mike - glad to hear the tank is coming together, sounds like you put in a lot of work. Can't wait to see some pics but it looks like your photobucket link isn't working Well... now it is! I must have just been too quick to check it out. Sorry about the false alarm.
  11. That's just what I was thinking Michael. They look a little different as juveniles though so you might not recognize them unless you ask. I have seen a few come through Saltwater Fantaseas lately. Of course, we could both be wrong!
  12. A big thanks to David for hooking me up with one of his carpets and taking the time to meet up today. He even let me snag a wrasse out from under him as Nick was bagging it up! Yeah, I do feel bad about that... It was a pleasure to meet you David and hope to work with you again. Sean
  13. Just wanted to give a shout out to Mike who went way out of his way to mod an ATO setup for me and hook up at Rose City today. I appreciate the all the help and hope to have a chance to work with you again sometime!
  14. Nice collection CA2OR. One of these days I will have to set up a tank just for zoos so I can indulge in some of these as well. Looking good!
  15. Hey Eric, I forgot to ask if you actually got those last weekend. Thanks for posting the pic - they were all retracted when I saw them and I was wondering what they looked liked (scratch) Sorry I didn't have a chance to introduce myself that day... I was already running late for a gig
  16. Thanks for the additional info Drunkreefer. I will pass as well.
  17. Dang Bob... didn't you just give him a sweethart deal on some zoos too
  18. That is too sweet Isaac! Do you have that in the store or is it in your "special" collection???
  19. I actually think you made a good point about what would need to be done to truly eradicate the disease from one's system and guarantee that the tang - or any other fish - didn't come down with it in the future. The flip side being that it is possible for an affected fish to become asymptomatic and live a healthy existence by helping boost it's immune system to fight off the outbreak without quarantine and medication. That fish, and the system itself, will then still be harboring the infectious agent which can then reappear if the fish become stressed in some way but it might be the only option (or even the best option) for some if they have limited or no access to a good, stable, stress free quarantine arrangement or simply can't catch the fish! No right or wrong answer here in my mind, just what works best in the given situation. Glad to hear the tang is still hanging in there - best of luck with it's recovery!
