  1. That's sick Mark! How did you set that up? Makes me want to go drop some cash on a couple more interfaces for the Aquatronica - which is not a good thing by the way!
  2. Yeah - it can get ugly in "reef world" sometimes! Problem is, a lot of the excitement happens at night so it's hard to sell tickets...
  3. Hey Garrett, I think reefhut (Shannon) still has a gold series dart for sale you might want to hit him up. Glad to see your back at it! Just couldn't stay away eh?
  4. Hey Eric, Sorry, I don't have any sage advice but it looks like plenty of others have made up for that. I do, however, want to wish you and your wife the best - I hope it is a fantastic experience for you all!
  5. What are you doing Miles! You're not supposed to give away the secret to enjoying fine skimmate - especially to Andy Did someone say pie???
  6. Hi John, just wondering if there is a cap on the number of participants. My wife and I hope to come and I am trying to clear my schedule so we can head down on Friday. Don't want to miss out though... Thanks - Sean
  7. Great looking tank! I am always impressed when people can maintain a small tank with so much diversity... must be doing something right. Or, more accurately, a lot of stuff right! (clap)
  8. Thanks Steve and Krux, those were very helpful clarifications. As it turns out, I have been using them for a similar purpose - post filtration in the sump, submerged for anti splash purposes. BTW Steve, I hear you have your cold water setup back! That is one sweet system!
  9. Wow... beautiful fish! I don't think I have ever run across one before in an LFS. Best of luck with it. You will have to post some pics of it in it's new home so we can drool over those as well (drooler)
  10. Miles, what kind of wrasse do you have? Hopefully it's a moot point for me but it would be good to be prepared...
  11. Hey Brandon, Lowman set one of these up a while back and several people took part so you might want to check with him. I'm not sure if/how to add individuals to the group but eventually would be interested myself. Sean
  12. (laugh)(laugh) Starting to show your age Bob! Mine too I guess...
  13. Thanks for the update Miles. I'm not a UofO alum but this is a tough call for all the reasons you stated. It does, however, point out one thing I really hate about college sports - the power of the big donor.
  14. Hey TAD - I think you are talking about the sun coral (orange colony?). They are really cool and have bright yellow (usually) tentacles that open up when they feed. They don't need a lot of light buy you typically do need to target feed them - they will learn to open up when food is presented.
  15. (laugh)(laugh) So I guess we now know how you fund your coral obsession Ryan
  16. Hey Shane, I heard you were eying that 90 gallon starfire tank at Bobs this weekend. I can see why... one of those would be awesome with that stand/canopy you put together. I couldn't bring myself to ask how much though Good luck finding a new tank - can't wait to see your system put together - you have been doing a great job on all the design work so far! Sean
  17. Well... between the various wrasses, anthias, tangs, and... Arggh! I don't even want to think about it DOH!DOH! Of course, some of those wrasses I might chalk up to the (now defunct) six line. (threaten)
  18. Yeah - if he is the culprit, he has had a very expensive diet up to this point! I'm trying hard not to add it up...
  19. Yeah - doesn't really fit with the "fish killer" theme but the scallop was kinda freezer burnt so who knows. I still feel better not having something with 3/4 inch claws lurking in there. He is probably busy dining on algae in my sump right now.
  20. So... after several disappearing fish and occasional "claw" sightings, I may have found and caught a potential culprit! I couldn't get pics of mine (dead camera battery) but it looks just like these photos of a black mithrax. Hard to tell scale here but mine was about 2.5 inches across. I had tried the baited mason jar approach before with some scallop meat - no luck - but then tried it again with some nori tied to a rock. Bingo! Success first time! Anyway, not sure if this is the fish killer or not but I am glad to have it out of the tank! Thanks to those that suggested this trapping technique - I owe you one! Sean
  21. Glad to hear you were able to get him out easily! We had a rather large one in our tank that was starting to freak me out until just recently when it fell over dead while we were watching it. It was literally moving around on the rockwork grazing when it suddenly stopped moving... forever. Weird. (scratch)
  22. Wow... awesome pics Shawn! I love those super macros
  23. Tanks looks great Andy! I also saw a nice elegance at SWF over the weekend - great color with really bright tips. It looked like a fresh harvest so not sure how that would affect it's durability. Just in case you suddenly find some cash laying around...
