Ouch! Glad it wasn't any more serious! That is some dedication to running there Kim - wouldn't catch me out there under any trees... well, not unless free coral was involved.
-
Oh man... hope it hold out until they can get the tree off! As if raising 500 fry isn't stressful enough! Congrats on the new brood BTW.

Sirena's New Sun Coral! Thanks Cuttlefish
albertareef replied to Emerald525's topic in Show Off / POTM
Haha! To be fair, the scoly vs. urchin death match pic does have a sun coral in it And it is pretty cool besides... -
Still don't have a generator (too bad you are so far away Jeremy!) but did pick up an inverter so that I could at least run a power head off of one of the car batteries if we get cut off again. Hope I don't need it...

You can buy fish and eat them all in one stop!

Awesome! I always wondered how those two would get along - like them both but thought they may be a bit too similar behaviorally to tolerate each other. Would not have expected this particular arrangement however ?

Yeah - already trees down here. Keeping my fingers crossed that we don't loose it twice in one year ? -
The art is really cool and quite reasonable I would say. Something fun and unique - nice touch!
-
Sweet! Don't tell my wife about the jellyfish - we will come home with another tank and I don't have this one sorted yet!
-
Haha! Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I just ask Paratore or MrBret what I am looking at most of the time. It does seem like zoas are a great way to get a good mix of bright colors. And they spread!
-
Congratulations! That is exciting news - can't wait to check it out.
-
Looks like you have a good start in the zoa garden going! Any particular colors you are hoping to add? I would ask for names but I can't begin to remember them all...

Building an over-complicated system - 60 gallon lagoon
albertareef replied to milesmiles902's topic in Tank Threads
Composition matters! That being said, the system is coming together really well Miles -
Haha! Ok, I will give you that - not "all" the cool kids are on the party bus but many of them are. Better?

Lots of science-y types floating around on the board these days! Likewise, planned to go to grad school in Marine Biology until I realized that the only way to qualify for the few programs out there at the time was to have graduated from their undergraduate programs. Ooops. Instead, ended up being a neuroscience researcher instead and the marine interest became a hobby. Had visions of starting up/working in aquaculture - which would have somewhat put me ahead of the curve - but alas, didn't work out. Given the struggles I have with just my own tank, however, maybe it was all for the best!

Trickster! And here I thought you were more the "share the love" type... guess you never can tell eh

Sirena's New Sun Coral! Thanks Cuttlefish
albertareef replied to Emerald525's topic in Show Off / POTM
That is quite the story! I know exactly the intersection you are talking about - on Columbia just by the tire store. Lots of big trucks going fast! Shame about the favia that is perhaps the most amazing color combo of that I have ever seen. -
Sirena's New Sun Coral! Thanks Cuttlefish

Well, at least I confessed to being the same way I sadly forgot to check out the seahorse tank when I was over last week so missed Fred and Ginger. -
Sirena's New Sun Coral! Thanks Cuttlefish
albertareef replied to Emerald525's topic in Show Off / POTM
That was a beautiful sun coral Cherany! Indeed, a chili could be cool in a seahorse tank. Is that a blue/purple favia to the left of the chili? That was sweet! -
That is interesting... I saw it, but only one copy.
-
Yeah but all the cool kids are on the party bus! Would be happy to help. Let me make sure I can rearrange the Saturday AM stuff and then I will coordinate with you on the rest.

Sirena's New Sun Coral! Thanks Cuttlefish
albertareef replied to Emerald525's topic in Show Off / POTM
Well - my wife and I are kind of right there with Sirena I'm afraid. No doubt the critters figure that out and use it to their best advantage! Good luck with the sun coral - at least it should be less devious than our cats! -
OK... this is killing me. Is there still an alternate list? I am thinking I may need to switch up my normal saturday AM commitments to try and make this after all if someone drops out.

Anybody interested in buying some iodine solution?
albertareef replied to LadAShark's topic in Classified Threads
I wouldn't mind having some on hand - are you thinking of premixing the solution? Unfortunately, I may not be able to make it to the next meeting/store tour.- 15 replies
