  1. Not clear on what is meant by "rail". Is it a fixture without the bulb?
  2. I agree to go with the best protection you cam afford!
  3. Apogee Quantum Meter for measuring PAR ((Photosynthetically Active Radiation) https://s.campbellsci.com/documents/au/manuals/MQ-100_200_300.pdf
  4. Lurch, Are you still interested in borrowing the PAR Meter?
  5. I have the PAR Meter. Paid PNWMAS members can PM me if interested in borrowing.
  6. I have a 90 that can use more lighting. If you could hold onto that for me, I can be down that way during the week
  7. Upscales usually has a good supply of live rock. You may also take a look at our PNWMAS Sponsors that are listed under "Forums". Don't forget to look in our Classifieds section of the forum!
  8. This is all very encouraging! The future of keeping marine fish may depend on whether or not they can be propagated.
  9. In case anyone did not see the other link, here it is. http://reefbuilders.com/2015/10/16/captive-bred-yellow-tangs-inching-closely-reality/
  10. Welcome ELGOOSEMAN! It sounds like you are off to a good start, and have gotten some excellent advice. I am looking forward to meeting you at our upcoming meetings and activities! Stay tuned!
  11. Hey Squee! I hope all is going well. Welcome! Be sure to keep checking back for details of upcoming events... we are just now finalizing meetings and activities for the next 4 months!
  12. Welcome Marcus! I hope all is going well with your tank and propagation system. We have activities planned for Oct/Nov, our Christmas Party in December, and a Guest Speaker, Dr. Tim Miller-Morgan, in January. We just want to finalize a few things before posting the announcements!
  13. Welcome Sonny! I did not see your post earlier. I really do try to respond to new people to the forum. Please check our Classified Section about the LEDs, and with our PNWMAS Sponsor Stores in the area!
  14. Welcome back! Hope to see you at meetings... we have activities coming up, and need to post them very soon!
  15. Welcome VitaAquaticus! I now have LED Lighting on most of my tanks. They are really the way to go, and they last years... rather than replacing every 6 months to a year. There are really a lot of advantages to using them! Everyone is welcome here... both Noobs and Old Salts!
  16. Welcome Nanodrummer! Be sure to keep us updated on your tank!
  17. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest, and to our forum! We have some great shops in the area. Be sure to take a look at our PNWMAS Sponsors listed in the Forum! Check our Classified section, as there is cycled, live rock offer there quite often. If not today, check the next day. Some items are sold and traded very quickly! I hope to see you soon at one of our meetings!
  18. Welcome to the forum Aubrey! I hope you have had a chance to attend a meeting by now. I spoke not long ago with the President of Puget Sound aquarium society. It seems the people there have become complacent, and content with just talking in a forum. That seems very sad to me. There is so much to do in this hobby, including meeting other hobbyists, sharing, any staying busy in various club activities.
  19. Welcome Thor! I have seen some beautiful tanks maintained "on a shoestring". There is used equipment in our Classified section of the forum, and lots of trading of livestock going on here in the forum, and at our meetings. Many hobbyists here would be glad to give you a few frags to get started! When I first began with reef keeping years ago, There were not a lot of supplies available, and we helped each other out as much as possible. Keeping a reef tank these days is much simpler, although some systems can be very complex and expensive. It is true that it can become very expensive, but it is not necessary to spend a small fortune. Please become involved with our club and meetings!
  20. Welcome to the PNWMAS Forum. We are looking forward to your update!
  21. Welcome to PNWMAS! I hope you have had a chance to attend some of our meetings! I am looking forward to meeting you.
  22. Hey Fernando! Welcome to the PNWMAS Forum, my friend. I am looking forward to seeing you post some pics of your tanks!
  23. I am working with the Oregon Food Bank, and beginning to contact our local PNWMAS Sponsors. Hopefully, you will start seeing Oregon Food Bank Food Dropoff Barrels at some of our Sponsor store locations! More info on this very soon!
