uhuru
Any interest in doing a group buy on Rod's Food? Cost of each package: $20 Cost of shipping: $25 Whether we order one box or 10 boxes the shipping is the same, but it will significantly reduce the cost for each individual buyer. Even with only 5 buyers the shipping will be only $5 each. I can order from Premium Aquatics or Marine Depot (which I think is a little cheaper in shipping). Post to this thread if you are interested and let's get a group buy going! http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~idproduct~RF1113~idCartRow~9167484~isKit~0.html
siskiou
Is 6 oz a good amount for $20? I'll have to check into this a bit more. Might be interested.
spectra
The stuff looks good but if you make it to Portland check out Patricks Gumbo. Not sure exactly what is in it but it is cheaper than that stuff. I know my fish love it and it also feeds the entire tanks to.
mister crabs
the rods reef is awesome stuff. we have a member of the local club here who travels to chicago every couple months and brings a case or two back on the plane from the manuf. but great food for your corals! blown65
Its all Ive been using lately. Love the stuff. Hopefully someone local picks it up sometime.
dstoneburg
Patrick said his gumbo has more ingredients then rods food. He considers it better, while never having tried Rods, My fish and corals do go crazy for pats gumbo.
impur
Yeesh! $20 for 6oz?!?!?!?! It should do my WC for that. (laugh)
chewie
Patricks food has EVERYTHING in it. Just about. I have helped make Pat's Gumbo, and no expense is spared. I don't think he charges enough for it, but I don't complain. But this is about Rods food. I haven't tried it. I'm not sure I would at $20 for 6oz. I'm sure it's great food though. JeffP
Can someone, maybe Patrick, list all the ingredients that are in his "gumbo"? And what's the price and for what amount?
siskiou
Yeah! I'd be interested in details about Patrick's gumbo, too!

And what's the price and for what amount?[/quote'] I'll post it when Rod posts his recipe. (probably not gonna happen) I think it works out to about 12oz. for $15. uhuru
Yeah I think the best thing would be if we knew what was in Pat's Gumbo. Does he use fresh or frozen seafood? Rod's food feeds both fish and corals. If they are different I wouldn't mind getting both to be honest. My corals are hungry!
chewie
Oh - you mean like this? http://www.rodsfood.com/info_ingredients.html Nope. Recipe's usually include amounts.(crazy)

sontdo
I don't know what Patrick Gumbo is. But I'm willing to try it. I'd be interested to get it. Where do I pick it up?

Michael7979
Nope. Recipe's usually include amounts.(crazy) You probably won't find out that info.. If Rod was to tell you exactly how much is in it..... everyone could make it then. I'm sure he has a 'secret' hiding place for the recipe, so it doesn't fall into enemy hands! Is there a way go purchase some of his and get it shipped? I'd buy 3 or so packages to try out, along with the RodsFood I have.
chewie
I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to ship some to you. YGPM.
H20cooled
I would go in on a pack or 2 of the Rod's food group buy. Nothing against Patrick's food but I did not care for the size of the food it was very small and the fish didn't really seem to care for it. But thats just my experience... JeffP
I'd likely be in for the Rods food - but won't commit to anything until I can see what Patrick's gumbo consists of - because if that's comparable, I'd rather go local

dstoneburg
Pats ingredient list is extensive to say the least. I was up there a month or so ago and needed to push my purchase over a certain amount and he offered the gumbo, I asked him what was in it and he pulled it up on the computer and showed me, WOW. I would much rather purchase from a local fish store and help them stay in business and prosper then from a foreign place. Not to mention I think pats gumbo has rod trumped.
