  1. Great topic! I liked the photos I shot at @pdxmonkeyboy's for the last meeting, but I'm always looking to improve my technique. I'll be there with my 200mm macro lens again.
  2. @albertareef @TheClark: Did you guys make a change to the member map? The member locations are now showing up as tiny icons instead of drop pins so they are tough to see, and the LFS locations don't show up.
  3. Some of the specs floating around in my water are actually tiny pods. I've taken random water samples to examine under my microscope, and I'm always amazed at the abundance of tiny lifeforms present.
  4. I added a few new corals, thanks to @MrBret: Also, my new "Frammer" from @pdxmonkeyboy:
  5. The acclimation instructions that came with the nudibranchs said to feed your fish, then turn off the lights and pumps and carefully place the nudibranchs on the rocks. I assume this is so the fish have hopefully lost their appetite. They went into hiding places immediately.
  6. Today I noticed for the first time that the nudibranchs are working. One particular aiptasia has been nagging me for months because I could see it on the side of a rock, but couldn't get a direct enough angle with the laser to kill it. Today, it's gone! I might try to look for them tonight with a flashlight to see if I can catch them feeding.
  7. I just checked in my closet and found a GoPro container measuring 3.75” x 3.75” x 4” and will gladly donate it to anyone wanting to take on this build project!
  8. The best part was when he threw away the GoPro. 🤣 Pretty [language filter] awesome example of ingenuity, creativity, skill, and patience.
  9. Cool aquascape! Next time I build a tank I'm going to use some branching rock.
  10. I'm usually posting coral photos, but here are a few of my other friends in the tank:
  11. I prefer the rainbow. It's funny, this photo reminds me of Magneto in X-Men like the rainbow is magnetically pulling the space invader towards it. 🤣
  12. Thanks! These are examples from my Nikon 200mm macro I mentioned to you recently. I love this lens!
  13. Thanks for the speedy response!
  14. This morning I found that the forum home page is not displaying the most recently updated threads like it normally does. It's only showing the vendor related threads. Is anyone else seeing this, or just me? Admins - did something change? @TheClark
  15. My new diamond goby has a pretty cool ritual when going to bed for the night:
  16. Yes, I've had to be creative with my tripod legs, especially when doing top-down shots. My issue seems to be that I tend to shoot macro shots with a really small aperture (f/32) to get depth of field, but that doesn't work for video due to low light. My 200mm requires about 10" of distance from the front of the lens to be in focus, which is another limitation in some situations.
  17. I have a Nikon D610 with a Nikon 200mm macro. I've mostly done still shots, but haven't had much luck with video yet. I need to experiment with it some more. Your macro video clarity is great!
  18. I won't name any names, but I bet a certain someone here has converted their skimmer into a water pipe...
  19. I just harvested some chaeto from my small refugium. I have a clump about the size of two grapefruits if anyone wants it. It's loaded with some good pods. You pick up in SW Beaverton/Aloha area.
  20. You could line the back of your tank with a black light painting and then the fish could really have a party!
  21. Awesome setup! What camera & lens are you shooting the macro videos with?
  22. Just out of curiosity, how many paid members are there? It will be funny if the map gets too cluttered!
  23. Sorry I missed that one. I've never been there. See...That's why this map is going to be great!
  24. @TheClark added the first LFS, so he should be able to explain the process.
