  1. Sand would likely end up in the sump with the amount of flow i am planning. Also it's acrylic and I hate gambling. I can scratch a glass tank like no other even bare bottom so I can't imagine what I would do with sand in an acrylic tank
  2. That would be cool. Tap plastic would charge $150 per panel and I need two (47.5x30)
  3. Didn't know if you wanted the bad publicity or not...
  4. Walt Disney is happy. This is a month apart
  5. I am aiming for tsunami level of flow inside the tank so the mp60’s will probably run on full blast
  6. This is always my favorite part of any build...gotta let those creative juice flow...
  7. Two months ago, when I started gluing acros on top of other corals like monti, birdsnest and psammacora that's when I realized I needed a new tank. Here is the plan. My goal is a "cheap" bare bone system that will be stocked with only acropora. So far I've got the rocks and the lights and I will be reusing some stuff from my reefer 170 breakdown (Apex, tunze ATO) Tank - 120G, 48x30x21 eurobraced acrylic 1/2" thickness. Peninsula style. External overflow Stand - 8020 aluminum stand, no skin. Topped with 1/2 inch white HPDE starboard Sump - 29 gallon breeder with clarisea 3000, simplicity 240DC skimmer, eheim jager 200W x 2, media bag in baffle for rowaphos and carbon, jebao DC 8000 return Light - Photon V2 50" x 2 side by side Flow - 2 MP60's on the overflow end of the tank only ATO - 10 gallon breeder with tunze ATO Rock - Addicted reef rock shelves. I have 120 lbs Controller - Apex - Trident Dosing - 2 part DOS (ESV b-ionic) - 2 little fishies Kalk reactor Fish - 2 clown fish - 2 blue damsels - 5 to 7 yellow tangs This thread will get updated from start to finish like my previous build
  8. For your size tank you would use the clarisea 3000. It’s triggered by a float switch
  9. it's easy 1. check balance on checking and savings account 2. Check credit card limit 3. Add 1. and 2. 4. Spend 3.
  10. I would give it a cool name like "ultra hulk mania" and sell for $100/frag if it was me...
  11. this achilles was super chill for 2 years. He just went crazy three days ago
  12. Can you DIY a roller that uses standard 2 ply toilet paper for my new build? that sure would save me a lot of money in the long run... Thanks!
  13. Same fish for two years. Only change was the light. 3 days ago I Installed a photon v2 in place of orpheks because I have to service the orphek. Maybe the photon is creating some reflection that the orpheks didn’t. Nothing has changed
  14. Sorry wrong place. Meant to post in general forum
  15. My achilles has been a model citizen for two years and the last two days has gone psycho. He’s pacing the tank back and forth fighting his reflection on both ends of the glass. He’s leaving the other fish alone but he is stressing them out cause he’s fast. does that behavior get better over time? today I noticed he injured himself on rock or coral cause he’s got a bruise on his dorsal fin
  16. Every system is different. Fish load, feeding habit, export methods water change frequency etc. I run mine as part of my export method
  17. I change my roll every 2-3 months
  18. Clarisea all day. You can buy generic filter rolls off ebay for a quarter of the cost too.
  19. Considered it but couldn’t find a clean way to do it
  20. The sunburst is doing weird stuff with the new light. It decided to spread wide. Didn’t realize it was that big
  21. Yes this is just temporary. I like the look of the orpheks better now that I see the photon in real life. The legs are adjustable up and down I have them on the highest setting. It’s nice that they are included with the photon.
