Hello everyone, I'm doing a poll to see how many people want a frag tank at "NW Frag Festival Is Coming - October 14th" Be aware, this would be at your own risk for items that are stolen, left behind, acquire reef pests etc... Poll closes in two weeks.

Since I met Robert, he has always been a true friend. He's never been not willing to help me and is always willing to go out of his way. I am glad to have this guy in my life. Happy Birthday, Robert!

Wow that was swift.

Hey everyone, Just a heads up to make it to the September club meet! It's going to be a good one. I'll be giving a talk about the basics of fluorescent proteins or in reality, what makes coral glow. I thought this would be a cool interactive website to help you put in perspective what protein causes the glowing and let you interact with it on your own time. If you are a bit confused, come to the talk and I'll explain it in more detail. http://www.rcsb.org/pdb/explore/jmol.do?structureId=1EMA&opt=3&bionumber=1 *Non-mobile device required.

I wish I wasn't sooo far away!!! If some of these are around next week, I might have to make my way up there.

Hmm. Where are you located? If you are close, I'd be happy to help. Although, I think it would be important to note that you can get rid of majanos without removing everything. I think Kalkwasser will work or a high powered laser.

September Picture of the Month - Corallimorphs
milesmiles902 replied to milesmiles902's topic in Show Off / POTM
I actually like this one a lot more because it is solely a corallimorph. -
The second picture looks a lot fresher than the first. Maybe you can track the bread crumbs back to why it was newer... What's the water parameters?

Either, but the Apogee MQ-200 Quantum Separate Sensor with Handheld PAR Meter looks cool.

I actually don't have much right now, but you probably can probably seed them from a local members macro algae.

I think xmas has it right. Why do you want to do it? In my experience of doing it for 4-6 months, in the end, it didn't help anything. Sure, it brought down phosphates and nitrates, but I later found out that I could achieve the same results with activated carbon. Also, coming off of a vodka bender is no fun. You'll get spikes in nitrates or phosphates and if you miss a day, it also spikes.
