  1. Is ρ density? I believe that by looking at this equation that this is for fine tuning a protein skimmer or pump. Maybe calculating the density differential as you proceed up the skimmer? Which would be applicable for engineering a protein skimmer, but density, viscosity and a lot of these constants change from tank to tank. For your sake and really all of ours who just want to turn a knob to raise or lower the proteins water level. I really believe you can resort to simpler methods. I've seen people even make these things out of Gatorade bottles and they work perfectly fine. I think if I was going to design one, I would just make sure the water inlet and outlet have valves, the air pump has a valve, along with another huge valve to raise or lower water level with the ability to overflow more than you'll need. No one would want a protein that size to overflow.
  2. Here are the rules: • One photo entry per person • Pic has to be taken by YOU • Must be in by the posted deadline • Must follow subject guidelines for the month Winners will be determined based on voting poll results after submission deadline. This months subject: Show me your anemones. The person with the least number of fish will be put to the top of the voting list. I want us to stray away from the fish-anemone pictures. Deadline: May 31st 11:59 pm
  3. I am glad to hear you joined PNWMAS. There are some pretty nice people here, that know way more than me. That's cool that you make your own frags. I personally have never made any, but it wouldn't be a bad idea for how much I use them. You should post some photos about the process. I am kind of curious.
  4. Siphoning helps, but a big one I also notice is flow and sand sifting inverts. Although, if Cyano can survive. It will survive.
  5. Cyanobacteria. To be honest, I have had great results with : https://www.google.com/search?q=chemiclean Although, a lot of people would say that it can be bad for the aquarium. It WILL get rid of it. Just do a water change daily and run a bubbler for aeration.
  6. Fish looks a bit hungry. Feed them. Mysis, brine etc.
  7. Never did any updates on this thread, but just to let everyone know...I am moving. We will soon see the struggle of moving a tank this size, but eventually to be reincarnated into something better. We have the technology.

This months subject: Being April Fools', I thought it would be fit to have a picture of the month for Clownfish. Have at it. Deadline: May 1st

  10. Happy Birthday Garrett! Honestly, you have some of the best setups and coral in Oregon. Keep it up!
  11. Looks like a fun meeting. Holly's place is always a blast. Too bad I missed it. I had to study. :( ...but classes are over! Forever! I'm done with classes for eternity and now. Time is no longer of the essence.
  12. This would work, but we have a problem! The vertical displacement of water is what will need to be measured. With acro's having a wide diameter, it would be hard to find a container to hold them where the vertical displacement is enough to notice. Millimeters if that. Why don't you just weigh the acro before and after? Then use the density of Calcium Carbonate to get volume?
  13. Also, @danlu_gt, aren't all those corals food for them fishies?
  14. There has to be some angel lovers out there. I know on average, they are rare, but come on people! They are one of the most beautiful types of fish.
  15. The picture of the month for February is....*drum roll*...: 503Reefland
