  1. I will back any good plan to move ahead and I personally 100% agree with this one. This isn't personal against anyone, just a good plan brought to the club to move forward with,
  2. Let's go with Micah's plan. Run in parallel to current site public beta. Plan was solid I am onboard.
  3. Nothing but good to say about golden basket.. Heck of a turkey day sale going on...
  4. +1. We are driving people away with the drama...
  5. Done, here is the link to make it easy to support Randy! Let's win this sucker!! LINK HERE http://www.reef2reef.com/forums/phot...oto-month.html Here is the pic you are voting on, it is awesome: blue spot goby - close up -09-24-2013 by rworegon, on Flickr I like our POTM threads better, because instead of a user name you vote on a picture. Way better, thanks Thomas! Hey, I think it is time to vote local here...
  6. If you need your Harlequin shrimp back just say the word. I do love them though
  7. Get one for the wife/gf, then borrow it, ALLOT
  8. TFH was advertising a new nano-species book, could be a good read and relative to your build! http://www.tfhmagazine.com/saltwater-reef/feature-articles/book-excerpt-the-101-best-nanoreef-species.htm
  9. Chrome is available on several platforms for sure including IOs, not sure about Blackberry. That may well help? I use tapatalk too on mobile, was competely naiive to the issues others were having. That is the tough part about hosting your own forum, compatibility on the myriad of devices out there.
  10. Good point, I run chrome and have had no issues.... Maybe that is the secret?
  11. I love goofy clown photos, worthy of it's own thread for sure! Here is our pair, they adopted a toadstool and live it against the toadstool's will and also harass the toxic hammer...
  12. MattV's post from November 2013 (Hope this is ok to repost Matt!) Very interesting, and I was following it with good results, but the algae made me stop pretty much everything until it was sorted out. Most likely I will return to something very similar to this... ========== supplements I use I have been experiencing growth and color of sps in my system over the last 7 months that have amazed me! Most of us look at our tanks multiple times a day and dont notice the daily changes. I was shocked when I was looking thru some pics to see the growth that was obtained in less than a year. My system is aprox 350-400 gallons(sorry but I have never tried to calculate total volume) Led lighting over the display is a diy of cree 3 watt cool white, blue, royal blue and uv. running 600 par mid tank. I run a modified MRC skimmer that should be good for over 650 gallons, two BRS media filters for carbon and one for GFO and a large calcium reactor. I do not use a ro/di unit only a floss type prefilter, catalytic carbon filter and a large canister of DI resin. (zero waste water) I dont do water changes (only top off) so I feel the need to add supplements to keep things healthy. My system goes through aprox 30 gallons every 14 days for top off. my mix for 350 gallons once a week. Amino 5mill mag 10 mil iodine 5 mil vitamin C 5 mill advanced vitamin & trace 15 mil potassium 10 mil My last test done with sulfert calcium 450 Alk 8.6 phosphate 0 mag 1200 nitrate 0 I am a lazy reefer and maybe have my water tested once a month. This method works for me and if it's not broke don't fix it!
  13. Seachem Reef Fusion 1 and 2 - 2 part Vinegar / Kalk Lanathum Chloride Trying Reef Plus Experimenting with various coral foods. I did the MattV supplements list for quite a while, but stopped during the epic algae outbreak. It is getting under control and likely I will go back to some form of that. Will dig up his old post (pre-crash) and post it.
  14. For all the reasons you all said. I am determined and committed to make it work while the bugs are sorted out. I am flexible with the admin team (to be?) and will be patient. I love the information here, I love the help, I love the people. We are local, we can meet each other, see each other's tanks, trade, learn from each other. I just cannot do that anywhere else. Let's hang in there and do our best for the people of PNWMAS, and be patient as possible with the technology.
  15. Nice! I see us in the link at the top of this thread.
  16. From Randy Holmes-Farley FWIW, this lists some possible sources of tin: http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/toxprofiles/tp55-c2.pdf from it (my highlighting): Major uses of tin: include cans and containers, electrical, construction, and transportation. Industrially important tin compounds can be categorized as inorganic (those without a tin-carbon bond) and organic (those having a tin-carbon bond). Inorganic tin compounds are used in the glass industry, and also serve as the base for the formulation of colors, as catalysts, and in perfumes and soaps. The major commercial applications for organotin compounds are as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) heat stabilizers, biocides, catalysts, agrochemicals, and glass coatings.
  17. Never even thought of vapors. Too bad these tests are 50 bucks, otherwise it would sure be fun to run some experiments.
  18. Overflow to sump, for sure would have been better in this case! Must of the crud was in the bottom of the 5 gallon puke bucket it wouldn't have been that bad. Unfortunately the skimmer is in the frag tank, skimmer bucket underneath it on the floor. I need to squeeze an intake screen into the return chamber as well, also a very good point.
  19. Fun read, nice that your build thread was back in time before the big crash. Enjoyed checking out your setup.
  20. I had an experience the other night that rattled me pretty good. Our system has a big old recirc skimmer. One pump makes bubbles, and the return pump manifold feeds the skimmer. Some Chaeto was sucked up into the return pump and clogged at the seaswirll. This meant less water pumping into the tank. In return, this caused way more water to be pumped into the skimmer, it started overflowing immediately into the overflow bucket. The float switch triggered, and the bubble pump stopped pumping. However, the APEX was not programmed to turn off the return pump in this case. There was a mini flood, but luckily I was sitting right here. APEX is now programmed to turn off return pump also if skimmer overflows, email, text, yadayada.. So if you have a 'puke' bucket on a recirc skimmer keep this corner case in mind. Hope this helps someone out there avoid this situation.
