  3. I am a jebao fan, so take it for what it is worth, Matty has way more experience with different pump types. I feel totally biased but inexperienced with the other pumps. Nice thing about a DC pump is that if you oversize it, it is easy to turn down in a small way. Not sure of the dimensions on the DC3000 or 6000. Well anyways hope that helps!
  4. To hookup to your RODI, or test seperately? That one BlueZ recommended looks amazing for an inline. If you are looking for a standalone tester this one is decent, I use it for a second opinion for my inline and under 20 bucks http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002T6L5M/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  5. What a steal! If someone from Vancouver can transport back to Vancouver I am interested. Just too far to drive for me otherwise most days...
  6. Awesome, glad the test run went well! Nice to have insurance...
  7. Wow that is a killer price. Stuff you already know, sharing in case it helps someone. Just be sure not to plug in sensitive things like your APEX etc.. The manual will say it, but it is best to keep it drained of fuel including the carberator so it starts when you need it. Use stabilizer etc... I found out at our last power outtage that the UPS I am using does not like my generator. Live and learn. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Wow wow wow! I feel like I hit the SPS lottery. Super nice colors, super sized, super healthy, super PE already. Thank you TECO / Jody, thanks Jose!! Will take some pics tomorrow with the whites on...
  9. Ordered a 20 dollar salifert mag test to compare against red sea and triton...
  10. Sweet! Cannot wait to see em. Jose please keep us posted so we know when/where to pickup!
  11. Hey Bluez, FWIW on my Mag results vs Triton mag results... I checked the tolerances on the Triton test, and tend to believe it. Their lab tests are calibrated daily and recalibrated every 30-40 tests. I found a guy like me on RC that had a high reading on his Red Sea Mag test, but a low reading on Triton here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2316890
  12. Another post about high Tin readings on ICP test. We all know rusty equipment is no good, this just puts a number behind it...
  13. Me too, I am going to repeat the dreadfully slow test again before making to drastic of a change to Mag. I will also pose the question to Triton as to their confidence in the mag results. Dude, I am bringing some water by along with my refractometer. Time for a second opinion over my el-cheapo refractometer!
  14. Thanks for sharing, wouldn't that be awesome!?? It does make me think more about coldwater though and how close we are to some amazing creatures a short drive away...
  15. For those interested in interpreting the results, there is a video on it that answers many (not all!) of the questions.
  16. From Eshan @ Triton - Possible cause of tin, sharing because it might be interesting to you all... Another possible cause is bits of solder falling into the tank. DIY LEDs are particularly at risk for this.
  17. That is a good point. At first it seemed simple, raise the salinity to 1.026. Now one has to wonder if that will be enough.
  18. Indeed, I think we are going to see salts contributing to some of this. A quote from Randy on RC 'Lithium seems very high, but some mixes have tested high for lithium in the past. Nothing you can do about it except a water change. '
  19. Ya, Google ensures that I read regularly from reefcentral... allot! I just don't post there anymore... Only so many forums a guy can participate in these days!

The D120s full spectrums are a steal, it is a 40b right? I own 6 of these now... http://www.ebay.com/itm/190999433320?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  21. Hi Rudy, It is my pleasure to share, seems like an exciting time and new data is available now to learn new things. I ordered the test 13 days ago. Yes, it is quite the moving target, allot can change in 13 days. Having a quicker turn around time would be allot better. Just to keep things under control I dosed nothing other than the usual calcium/alk/vinegar/kalk. No trace elements, nothing at all. The plan is to be conservative with adjustments, then spring for one more test to see if things have been brought into line. Hopefully I do not overshoot given the delay. There was a post by a respected vendor named battlecorals I think. He had three different systems, some did better than others. He sent in three tests just to learn what is different between the systems. Another person was very happy with their tank and corals, but sent off for the test to take a baseline so that if things deteriorate he can have a known good state to get back to. Good stuff happening! Should be interesting to see what/if we learn from this new data.
  22. Reef2Reef is fairly friendly, met allot of good people there. PNWMAS is honestly my favorite, something about people you can see their tanks locally and trade with, and a pretty good group of people. Randy Holmes Farley is very active on Reef2Reef nowadays which is great for this Triton stuff going on. I was on reefcentral in the past. Accidentally posted a bad link to a zoanthids site. They gave me a severe warning and almost booted me. It was just a broken link for goodness sakes! For me that is the reason I don't spend much time posting there.
