  1. Well, the tide pool has been put back into the garage, again... In the meantime, I'm going to set up a simple vase and keep some opae ula shrimp. The vase holds just over two gallons. It's cycling with sand from the beach and some rocks from my old tank. There won't be any filter, heat, or light on this. It'll get a little sunlight, but that's it.
  2. Nothing. I got rid of my bigger tank. Now I only have a 12g tank and it's easier to just buy the water.
  3. I have a 55 gallon food grade plastic barrel I used to use for a water reservoir. I don't need it anymore, so if somebody could use it, feel free to come pick it up. I'm in downtown Vancouver.
  4. No worries. I get down there occasionally. Just let me know. I'll get my little tank cycling too.
  5. Do you want to go in on an order together? Or just sell a few from your order? I'm only looking for 5 or so.
  6. Does anybody keep opae ula shrimp? I want to set up a little bowl with them and a mangrove?
  7. Scuba is the coolest! We did a night time manta ray drive while we were in Hawaii. It is probably the most amazing thing I've ever done.
  8. I never got it figured out. I think chillers are usually pretty reliable though. This one is just old and has been passed around a lot.
  9. I have most of a bottle you can have if you want it.
  10. Somehow my trachy got moved in front of the pegged and spent a few days getting blasted while I was gone. One side is receding a little, and one of the mouths is gaping a bit. I moved it back to a calm spot and its starting to look puffy again. Is there anything else I should do to help it recover? I have tried feeding it a few times, but my shrimp and fish always steal it before it can eat. It's 6" across, so covering it with a bottle or something is tough.
  11. I have an old 10g rank you are welcome to have. It's not pretty, but it holds water.
  12. The important thing is that I know where you live. I'm just going to ditch this thing on your front porch if nobody takes it.
  13. Mine has been a bit of a roller coaster for the last 4 years. I think part of the problem is that it's easy to get complacent when things are looking great. I know I focus more on maintenance when there's a visible problem that needs to be fixed.
  14. Rodi spoken for. Who needs a barrel?!
  15. I have a 55g plastic drum that I no longer need. Works great for holding top off water. Also an rodi filter. Tds is reading 2, so the filters need replaced. There's also a crack in the tubing, so you'd have to replace a small section. Should be easy though. Come take them away if you can use them. I'm in downtown Vancouver. Anyone who asks where I'm located will be disqualified.
  16. I still haven't had time to tear into the chiller. But I figured out the noise problem at least. I driller s second home in the stand pipe and added second tube. This way I should be able to have the drain on full siphon. I might actually just run the whole thing on a big canister filter. Then I could just run the return through the chiller (assuming I eventually get one that works).

    Acan help

I had an acan get stung by my torch coral. It kept slowly receding from the original dead spot. I took gel superglue and made a barrier between the healthy part and the dying flesh. It died right up to the glue, but everything in the other side was fine. It has since regrown over the glue and the dead skeleton.
  18. I definitely second this. And a huge bonus thank you to whomever made it so easy to post pictures!
  19. Here's the chiller. It's an old one that has been passed around a few times, so it's definitely possible that could have lost some coolant. I'll have to pull it apart tomorrow when I have some more time.
  20. It does display the correct temperature.
  21. Nope. No noise at all. And the fan doesn't move.
  22. Are there any chiller experts out there? Mine powers up and the display works, it just doesn't actually cool the water.
