  1. My final measurement! FTW? Maybe? hehehe! 19 heads final count! Front Top Side 1 up close Side 2 up close
  2. If probes are included for that price it's a really good deal. Only reason I never added salinity probe is they are over $100 each...lame! I do like supporting groups like this as they will push improvements faster than some of the larger companies coasting along on the initial offering.
  3. Given the weird dims, it's gonna be custom. Also not being water tight could save some cash in the custom made area. Contact Arminius, he does great acrylic work and could probably get you a great deal. Haven't heard from him in a while though but worth a shot: http://www.pnwmas.org/user/15126-arminius/
  4. I think the biggest advance is IF the Mindstream monitor ever comes out and works properly. The shear fact that it monitors so many parameters will revolutionize testing and dosing. In general I believe the next decade is going to be the "testing" age. With Triton, many quality home tests, and the general knowledge sharing of accuraies and necessary levels I'm sure a push for ease and quantity of testing is coming. Of course, lighting tech will always be changing with next gen LEDs using less power for higher output. Hopefully that comes with more spectral refinement and quality as well. Exciting times to be a reef keeper! Look forward to it!
  5. Ocean in a box, he gets some smokin deals on bulbs!
  6. Have you talked to the local shops? I know Ocean in a Box, Cuddlefish and Coral, etc all do installs and planning. Might want to give one of them a ring and I'm sure they can get you taken care of.
  7. I would say a far more basic safety is a skimmate locker or switch to shut off the skimmer if it goes nuts. I've flooded under my stand 2x from this and it could have easily been avoided. Now with a $5 float switch on my RKL I don't have to worry about this anymore.
  8. I can look and see if I have a small piece in my sump for you. Also you may want to take a hunk of cheato too so the pods get going in it (if you have a spot for a fuge that is).
  9. What power head is it? I use a titanium grounding probe for piece of mind in my tank, they run like $12 or so. I would consider replacing if it is putting out voltage.
  10. Yeah I have been feeding the tank a lot lately. I usually don't spot feed as my fish go ape when food starts flying around. Don't want them nipping at the LPS for food scraps. I try to early morning and late night if I can. I would also suggest trying vinegar or vodka dosing. It's easy, cheap and proven. At least do your research before trying the Red Sea product. Good luck!
  11. Be careful dosing too much carbon sources. Been there and now I'm dosing nitrate to get a reading above 0 :( Shoot for 2-10 and everything will be happy. Especially if you have a mixed reef, my lps have been pissed with no nitrates.
  12. In better news, wifey has approved RK Archon purchase to monitor remotely and avoid failure! Yay!! May even get another APC out this lol!
  13. Phew, just fired back up just now, let's hope it stays that way!
  14. Hoping my little APC keeps the WP40 going along with my battery powered air pump. Sitting here with candles lit
  15. Power just went down a few mins ago. Warning for those not home. My zip is 98692 around Padden and 162nd. Get your backups online!
  16. Where are they placed now? It's hard to say without a FTS. Mine aim upward so I can keep them on full tilt without hosing everything down below down. I am using wp40s though so a bit different.
  17. Just counted all the heads...sitting at 18! Tons o babys popping up around the edges front top
  18. Sweet, what are the dims of the tank? Mine is 7', but see 6' too a lot more often.
  19. Only thing that saves my bacon from this issue is that I have a DC skimmer pump so the slow ramp acts as a delay of sorts. The float switch idea is a good one though, I'd chase that as a solution. May need to look into a delay on my RKL to be sure on mine
  20. Mine always loved toadstools in the past. Since I had an elegance though, that was the home of choice. They are a nice nem like alternative that doesn't go on a wandering war path
  21. Oh and most things maintained the colors, no revert. So that's a plus
  22. I think the big reason is a lot of people don't dose amino and rely on water changes, so the first time dosing this, the corals react dramatically. I just felt like things look good and then kind of plateaued. Some didn't change at all and some really like it. I would say it is definatley worth a try as no real negatives have been observed by me.
  23. What's wrong with it? If it's just diodes that need replaced I can help you out.
