  1. Petco sale is going on right now Sucks dude, glad nothing caught fire, that's scary it was sizzling!
  2. Can you find someone else to either loan you a second unit or get some water from? I would not do tap, as mentioned you will be chasing that down for way longer than it's worth in time savings. I know in Vancouver the TDS is 120ish out of my tap, definitely don't wanna dump that in the tank! I'd offer you some RODI water if you want to come with jugs and get it. Forgetting where you are located.
  3. Playing with iPhone time lapse. They look like this around feeding time too lol!
  4. I will add that I haven't had to deal with tech support...so maybe I just lucked out.
  5. Apex is a great choice and can always be upgraded. Lots of guys on here run them and can help you get it going. I run a reefkeeper lite which works fine until you start wanting more control, but it does all the basics. I pre-ordered Archon to upgrade it which will make it more like an Apex. Can't really go wrong either way, I'd just keep your eyes open and you may be able to snag a used one and save some money.
  6. That is such a minor issue, just spend $150ish on a dehumidifyer and you'll be fine. These winter months are the worst for this as we don't usually open windows or run AC to dehumidify.
  7. It's funny looking stuff when you dump it in! Under actinics it almost looks like yellowish radiator fluid. My DC skimmer has a 1 hour feed off mode so I just leave it off for the hour after dosing. I do notice great polyp extension. I dose this in addition to acropower so I also dose 3-4 times a week 5ml.
  8. Oh snap you don't have to do that! I won't argue though thanks! I wish I could get some of that mad puff dragon is getting, but I'm in the lowest flow area and still a bit shrively with my wp40s chugging along. Been experimenting with some new nighttime broadcast feeding, will report back with results!
  9. I've been using a bottle recently. Can't really say for sure but my tank is pretty stripped of nutrients so I've been doing a lot more than just that to bring them back. I used it once in the past on a different tank and had no negatives from it. Lots of people talk it up, so I figure it's worth using. Only person I've heard complain was a guy on R2R who said he thought it was causing Molybdenum in his tank. However no one really knows if that's a bad thing or not. Triton test is the only one that shows it.
  10. You don't by chance have clown fish do you? Chromies and clowns ca be enemy's to death! I have 4 huge 3-4" chromies in my 210. None died but I bought them larger at 2-3" about. In general larger fish are hardier IME.
  11. Thanks for snagging my long forgotten frag lol! You're welcome at the house anytime!
  12. Pete - one reason you may have had higher waste rates is not enough pressure. If your plumbing can't keep up a booster pump should be used to increase efficiency. As far as sewer rates go, I have mine in the garage and it dumps waste water into my pond out front. Have also used it to water the lawn. In general if your spending about $180 on a RODI and $40 on Kent salt the break even price is going to happen at around 300 gals depending on water cost where you live (and not counting filter costs). For people with nanos and smaller tanks, this probably doesn't make sense. For me with a 210 chugging through topoff water I like the convenience and piece of mind that I can have water ready in my garage for anything that happens.
  13. Not saying I didn't get beat just saying this whole thing has had the strictest rules and everyone else got DQd all over the place for stuff like that. Now the winner is exempt? I can't count his polyps from a top down shot? Just saying...don't really care either way, but let's see some more pics of it!!!!
  14. Feeling the heat from all the competition. I think the MP10 is still the best choice for nanos, WP10 is such a narrow flow path.
  15. Not to rain on the parade here buuuut....rule #5 dude.... :P
  16. There isn't such a thing, if it's dry, it's dead. I would either fill your tank with all dry rock and seed with some bacteria cultures or do all dry and just get a small piece from someone to seed the dry. I haven't bough live rock since I started way back when. Pests come and go on corals too but as others are saying, limit the potential sources as corals can be dipped and rock can't (without killing the good stuff of course).
  17. Mr Aqua nanos are pretty cool and available in low iron glass. Jack has a cool one with a current led on it, maybe check his out? Jbj is also doing some cool AIO tanks now too. WP10 is a good pump for small tanks and can be turned down.
  18. Also digging the recent topics homepage fix, back to normal again! Keep it up!
  19. Dang, that went faster than I thought it would! Did you ever figure out if probes are included? I'm running RKL and waiting for Archon to release :-/
  20. Epic level water changing dude! One day I should borrow your exchange pump and barrels and do this myself. Can anyone confirm that Jeff at C&c has triton tests for $30?? Need to do one soon
  21. Mine are all sandbed out of direct light (but still have light on them). A lot has to do with where it comes from (light acclimation wise) and the chalice type. I had some super low light ones die right next to perfectly fine ones. I think you'll find with that one that too much light will yield lighter green and lower will get darker. I'd suggest somewhere easy to scoot into shade if it's not happy.
  22. Yeah...I'm kinda suprized this thing has been such a baby machine. I haven't ever spot fed it and only broadcast feed the tank at night for corals maybe once a week tops. Half the time I was making sure my dang wrasse didn't flip...he was always digging right around it and moving it!
