My mangroves all were dying till I added refugium mud to their bases because they just soak up nitrates and iron. Maybe more would look cool, hows yours growing?

Ya my fuge is below my DT and I don't really ever see pods in my DT.. :(

But requires you to pump the water to it if it is higher. I guess then it could gravity feed your DT and would essentially be the same amount of effort/power.

Do you have the space to plumb an external? If so yah. Lots go with submersible because it fits nicely into a partition of the sump.

Tank is coming along well. My return pump is hanging on by its last thread. BRS group buy !! Main tank is having corals added, refugium is growing like crazy. So many copepods in there it is like watching sand move everywhere. My wife and I are having fun with this project. The anemone is rock wall climbing from the sand, white with blue dots on the tips of each tentacle, awesome species.

I have this stuff too, doing the Tech M approach.

Pictures fo shizzle. I personally am new to the hobby too, but I've taken these guy's advice and only spend about 1 hour a week total on maintenance. I don't own any cool reefkeepers, just set up a cheap auto top off and do small water changes and sit back and let what happens happen. I have a closed loop. As described by markvo, it intakes through a 1.5 bulk in the back and outputs through 4 3/4th bulks on the back, the loc lines can be twisted and hidden to get really strong currents w/o ugly power heads in your tank that can take away from the scene and malfunction. (Much like your's did with reversing lol ) Closed loops are powered by an external pump. This setup up also lets you run water slower/faster through sump if you aren't reliant on the return for flow.

one pregnant peppermint shrimp did the job fo me.

Very nice clam!!! Sexy. It is said to wait a year to put a clam in your tank, but really it is because a aquatic hobbiest should have a year experience under their belt. You have a very impressive tank man, good gear and setup.
