  1. one of my peppermints seems to always be carrying eggs....I havent seen anything hatch yet but I'm guessing when they do the corals have a great meal
  2. I'm in, I'm in....no one else is :(
  3. Me and the crutches will try to be there!
  4. I think mine is obvious? If not it just means My name is Mark and I am a Dad of 2.
  5. I have a nice lazy-boy in the garage that you are welcome to borrow. Come get it. I can't help lift it as I just got out of the hospital a few weeks ago (new hip). *edit* Doh, just saw that you got one from CL. My offer still stands
  6. Teresa, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I will certainly include you and the girls in my prayers and if you ever need help with the tanks just let me know. I have two girls as well and this really hit home with me. God Bless you and your girls.
  7. Nice Yumas. Let me know how much you want for one! Thanks!
  8. Just managed to get over to WestSide Aquariums and picked up a nice looking chalice - what we think may be 'Desert Sunset Chalice'. Sweet looking coral! Tim has some nice stuff in right now. I will try and get a picture over the next day or so.
  9. I do the same thing. Double switch float connected to a solenoid - solenoid is before the RO filter so if power goes out I'm pretty much guarenteed to NOT flood as the solenoid is shut during power off.
  10. Andy, Yes I plan on doing all of that before adding to the tank. with this salt you add the Ca seperately (pre-mesureded out for each batch) that way if my ca is high in my tank I can adjust.
  11. I'm not sure whch hydroids I have - I think just the colonizing but I have no clue on how to erradicate them. epoxy maybe?
  12. Just got my first back dropped off today of this salt. I talked to the owner / creator when I ordered and he was nice enough to send some Kalk my way as well to try. When I can do the next water change I will try and post and give my opinion of the salt (the 'company' says I will notice a difference in my corals within 24 hours). -Mark
  13. Just put a rock next to your xenia - it will grow on to it if it is happy. the stuff grows like weeds for many.

    Cyphastrea PE?

My cyphastria (green base / orange polyps) is about 1/2 down my 60g cube (12" down in the tank). good colors and good pe extension.
  15. what kind of applications? That is a very 'open' statement...do you need .NET developers? C# or VB? J# developers? Developing for what platform? PC, handheld? Would this be a data-driven application in which you would need a database? I've been either an admin, developer or DBA for going on over 15 years or so. Not sure I have time to start another project these days.
  16. Roy, I was bummed I could not make it, but I had Church obligations that ran until 1:00. Sounds like it was a great meting.
  17. You guys and your crab jokes So, I speared one crab tonight, but missed the second one. It looks like it was the crab from the above skeleton. I did manage to find one more porcelain crab in the tank crab hunting. I snapped a few pictures but too tired to upload tonight. I have a trap set out for the other one...Maybe I will raffle off the bad crab on sunday...maybe trade for a sweet chalice! ha ha ha.
  18. Oh sure, you have heard of it happening, read about it....but it has never happened to YOU. THat is what I thought. OOPS. my Mg level had crept up to 1700-1800 in my tank. I was thinking maybe it is the new Ca reactor and media, but decided to test some freshly made salt water. sure enough, towards the end of the bucket I'm measuring 1700 for a Mg level. all other levels are fine. I even mixed the bucket up when it was new - rolling it around etc. No dice. I'm now thinking of ordering 25 gallon bags of Get Tanked salt. Mix it up good y'all! ps - if anyone needs some salt with high Mg levels come get it! ha ha ha
  19. I did spear one a few months ago (actually two to date). this is YET ANOTHER one. I found a small white crab hanging out in the gravel the other night also. I have all the fun. The live rock I have must have been a damned breeding ground for them or something.
  20. I'm getting sick of bad crabs. Found this skeleton of a molt last night in the tank....this is one of the crabs I've been after for quite some time. What do you guys think, Xanthidae crab? It looks like it to me from the pictures at this site: http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchcrabs.html Has anyone had any luck trapping these buggers? Here is the offender:
  21. one of the crabs that I speared late one night was munching on my orange cap. I watched him break off little pieces and eat them (at least it looked like he was eating them). It was sweet revenge when I skewered that guy.
  22. Let's just say I have a lot of hiding places for these crabs - my base rock is 34 lbs - and I have two others that are about 20-25 lbs each. - tons of hiding holes and such for the critters. This is the Rock that Joel at waves ordered in for me....the nicest rock I have seen yet to date in my humble opinion. Now I wonder how many I have that I have NOT seen. On any given weekend night you can find me 'hunting' crabs at about 1:30 am. I think the family is gettinga bit worried about me.
  23. Jason - get a long metal BBQ skewer - that is how I speared my first gorilla crab. What an ugly critter. I have what I THINK is another gorilla crab but this guy is freaking fast and skittish. Eric - I have added a few corals recently but I ALWAYS coral wash them before introducing into my tank. I imagine one may have survived the coral dip.
  24. JORDAN ROCKS. Congrats Jordan, it will be nice to have you to draw information from once again!
  25. Saltnfinsax - I have about 5 million hiding places for these critters. I have found most of them at night with a flashlight, but the guy today came out at feeding time. He is only maybe .30" wide - so pretty dang small. Kevin - you SLACKER - I'll have to give you some of these bad hairy crabs
