  1. I just stepped outside to take a look before I saw this, and WOW! Very nice looking Sunset this evening.
  2. I counted at least 14 the other day - but It may be 15 - I'll count tonight again.
  3. I LOVED my phoenix 14k 150w on my nano..it was a sad day when I got my new ushio and it was all yellow looking (it was 14k as well). When I hit the 8 month mark on my new hood over the cube I will go ushio.
  4. Just change your filters like you should and there should be no issues I always print out a label with the filter change date - I just change them every 7 months if they need to be changed or not. They are cheap (except for membrane). What I'm not sure about is how often to change the membrane - but I figure 18 months or so. How long do you guys go before changing the membrane? oh, membrane holder is not clear - it is the DI cartridges that are clear.
  5. I was worried about this as well! I don't know what my pressure is after the saddle valve, but things are running just fine (from what I can tell so far I'm getting about the same output as using the faucet adapter). I'm lucky to have outstanding water pressure at my house!
  6. That shouldn't have any copper in it I want a barrel of that stuff!!
  7. I would worry as to what has been in them previously.....
  8. I may have a whole roll - I can look in the garage tomorrow!
  9. I have used: Red sea: did not mix up real well Tropic marin (Not the pro) - found levels to be very low on Ca and Mg Kent - so far the best of the the 3 for me. Using it currently.
  10. I would rather cut off my supply to the RO in the first place, instead of having the possibility of the RO cutoff failing and producing waste water for who knows how long - I have heard these often fail but not experienced it. I will post a few pics after dinner of my setup - pretty dang easy actually - not complicated. Dual float switches Solenoid that defaults to a closed position - once the level drops power is applied (12v) and solenoid opens. this way if power is lost it will close and NO water will flow to the ro unit - ignore water line colors - used what I had. The RO system - in the garage finally!
  11. It is a DIY setup I've found enough of the parts to make another one - but I have no mounting brackets. I guess you could just mount the float switches to the holding container and it would work fine. 12v solenoid - 12v power supply - two float switches and the jonh guess fittings. Very simple to do actually.
  12. Joel set me up - I just had to do a bit of wiring but I now have a great redundant system for my Brute container and RO. Dual float switches that control a 12v solenoid - solenoid is between my water supply and the input to RO unit so I don't have to worry about my RO pressure switch failing and continuing to create waste water. Oh man, no more flooding the floors
  13. I was at Waves yesterday and Joel still has a lot of supplies and livestock left. All I can say is he gave me some SWEET deals on supplies to build up a float swtich for my RO system and the holding tank. NO MORE FLOODS for me.
  14. I do weekly water changes like religion. Great growth and I have never battled algae or anything. I'm willing to bet if I did NOT do these water changes my SPS would suffer due to trace elements. If you are a softie dominated tank you can probably get away with less water changes. Using RO is the best way IMHO - I can FULLY control what goes in my tank and I don't have to scratch my head in wonder as much if something does go wrong - I know my water was quite pure. One less worry!
  15. Aiptasia X has worked for me quite well.
  16. I have a total of what looks like 11-12 polyps. The two that fell off the original frag are still alive, and they have not yet multiplied. In this picture it is the smaller group: Here are the two others that seperated hangin' out with the Bam-Bams:
  17. Scott, you are right. I have ATO for my display and happy with that. I need a way to not have to remember to turn OFF my RO water that goes strait from the RO filters to the holding tank. I'm tired of floods. Damned, I'm forgetful anymore guys. SO, just a float that shuts off the RO would be what I need.
  18. Tim and I have done a large number of trades and he is very fair and a heck of a nice guy. Great new shop and very healthy livestock.
  19. Cannedmulder - I have a frag ready - not sure how many polyps but at least 3-4 (it is behind the main colony. Siskiou you are second in line. Let me know...
  20. OK, so much to the pleasure of my wife I moved my RO system out of the laundry room and into the garage. Now when I forget about it only the garage will be flooded. SO.....what does everyone use for a float switch with their RO system to shut it off automatically? I use a 33gal brute container. Any suggestions? Pictures of your setups would be wonderful. I can take one of mine if you think it is of interest. Thanks Mark
  21. I really don't like ushio bulbs - I run a 14k Ushio on my nano and it is YELLOW - but with those actinics it may balance out nicely.
  22. I have zoas in various places in my tank...some low light and some medium and I have a 250w halide over it with t5's as well. Low flow, high flow...doesn't really seem to matter. What seems to matter the most is that once you find somewhere you like them that they stay put - it seems that moving around my corals slow growth. I feed the whole tank oyster eggs and rod's food 1-2x per week.
