Has anyone seen something like a Randall's goby or any other good pistol shrimp goby at any of the stores recently? I'd like to pick up a friend for my Pistol this weekend. Thanks all!

Did you guys feed anything to the shrimp? I'm concerned my little guy is getting no food without a goby. I did manage to find his 'cave' last night so I know he is alive and well - and I can hear him clicking.

I have the pistol shrimp (thanks Scott) - but am missing the goby (prefer Randall's goby). I bet those two guys are a great way to keep the gravel stirred up and get that detrius in the water column to be removed! Hey, if any shop has a Randall's goby let me know. Thanks.

So one of my two Peppermint's has a nice clutch of eggs. I know they will not make it to babies, but is this something that when she drops them the corals will eat, as well as the other shrimp and fish? thanks.

Just make sure you have a way to turn your chiller on/off or you may have a problem with too much cooling! Love my chiller. One less thing to worry about - especially while on vacation during the summer.

I can't stress how helpful a controller is....just wait until summertime when the temps are HOT. My controller and chiller has saved my hide a number of times. I run a Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper Elite - they have the 'light' model for a fair price if I recall.

Yeah, you will be converted to salt shortly. After doing FW most of my life I recently converted to salt and I LOVE it. Lots of good folks here on the forum willing to help.

A big thanks to Frank for spending the better part of today with me helping to set up my new Calcium Reactor (Schuran Jetstream Pico) and kalk reactor (Precision Marine KR620)! Oh man...no more forgetting to dose and no more CA/ALK levels bouncing all over the place! I think my sump is about 100% full at this point. Can you even find the Ca Reactor? The Kalk reactor is a bit big, but I got a great deal on it:

Just please remember to wear protection - if these little buggers squirt you in the eye or you get the slime in a cut you will be in a bad way. I usually break apart the rock or frag plug they are on.

Pfft. That was my starter aquarium. I just didn't have the time to maintain it so I downgraded to a 60g cube. Besides, my water bill was getting out of hand. Ha ha ha ha...I WISH. very cool tank either way!

DOH! Temp probe was too near top of water in the refugium (near light). Temps is a bit low at 76 - I shoot for 77.7. Normally would have gotten the alert on my blackberry - but handed that back in to Comcast as today was my last day with the company. Off to a new job on Fri.

Snowpunk, In 100% honesty this is NOT the first time Eric has heard the club needing reciepts and everything. I'm not going to argue this point, but want it made clear that our need of these documents has been no secret. Our starting point was to get these documents to review, but have not seen any. I'm hoping that with Frank on the board he will be able to obtain these items and the GOC can move forward as I think it is a great thing for the club. We have talked to Frank and he has some great ideas and I think with the three of you working together we can have a world -class program here, and be Non-Profit safe at the same time. thanks for your help and I hope the GOC can continue to grow. -Mark

Politics perhaps, but necessary politics no doubt. Why would the board and officers want to risk our non-profit status? The competition started small, and has grown to a large event (well done Eric), but it needs a paper trail now.....and to date we have not been provided with that for our records. We have asked for this information a number of times, but have seen nothing yet.

I was up late last night just looking around the tank with a flashlight. I happened to catch an ugly looking crab - I observed him breaking off pieces of Monti Cap and eating them. I went on the attack - skewered the little guy, but I'm not sure what kind of crab it is - any thoughts? Kind of looks like an ugly emerald crab but with smaller more powerful claws. I will try and get a picture of him as I saved him. thanks.
