Make sure you run a good quality Carbon - don't go to petco for some I agree with Andy as well - get water running thru a poly filter also. All that with some decent sized water changes frequently and you may be OK for future corals. I don't think those ones you have in the picture will make it out alive, but I hope I'm prooven wrong!

As far as I know no controller manufacturer has the capability to monitor KH, Mg, Nitrates/Nitrites, ammonia etc. From what I have read, to impliment this would be cost prohibitive thus far. DA does have the capability to monitor Salinity, but that is the last thing I need to monitor as mine is rock solid!

This could be like debating salt. I've ran a RKE for over a year now. Love it for the most part - now that they finally have myreef 2.0 out! Extremely expandable - not many limitations at all (but $$).

I have had my Mg levels up around 1800 and things survived. I will never buy salt in a bucket again due to the Mg settling towards the bottom and I did not catch it in time (and yes, i did mix the salt bucket). Good idea on the reactors - I run 2 two little fishies reactors - one 1/2 full of carbon and one with zeo stones in it.

I run the Phoenix 14k over my tank, but I THINK they only make the 14k in double end.

I would not count on Soutas to be honest with you. Upscales is always good and maybe 2 minutes off of I-5.

From what I have read, you do not need to seed the algae at all. Light (about 18 hours a day) and water flow and the algae grows - OUTSIDE the tank

I've been doing a bit of reading lately on algae scrubbers and was wondering if anyone here has set one up? A much safer method (IMHO) would be a zeo method. I currently use the Brightwell products.

I say go with a good quality test kit. Either Elos or Salifert. I have used both and been happy with both.

I run the elite and just upgraded to myreef 2.0 last night. Loving it today as I can control my tank from anywhere I want (a bit distracting here at work)! I like the fact I can add an unlimited # of modules as I need more (and I have added about 3 since I bought the package).
