Soo question.. members like me with trying to stock up a large tank..I have no frags.  Will there be the possibility of purchasing frags at these meetings?

In addition to the sale threads mentioned, people planning to trim large fast growing colonies will often offer pieces to people at the meetings so definitely worth following those meeting threads when they start back up!

I had that concern as well so I ordered this protectant called Everbrite. Great company by the way. They asked when I ordered online what it was for and switched it out since I had ordered the wrong one. I will let you know how it holds up !

Good luck!  Hope that works out.  We tried a few things and ultimately had it replaced with a resin counter/sink combination like in our regular lab spaces 😞 I was honestly surprised as the salt content in that system is pretty low compared to what we run in our setups.

    Almost 3 years !

I can't believe it's been that long already!!  Glad to see you back at it Kim and jealous of your fish room potential - so much easier when you have the room and facilities to do "wet work".  BTW - get ready to lots of polishing on that very nice stainless sink setup - we had one in a zebrafish room at work and it would surface rust constantly even with the low salt content in their water 😞 I don't even have a functional utility sink though so you are way better off 🙂

If you haven't already do so.. bookmark this and check it often for great deals (they go fast) Echo Audio | Just Arrived (echohifi.com)

Love this place!  Haven't been in for a while but they used to treat me very well even when buying old discrete component mass market stuff like my Marantz 2325 receiver ($300 at the time) but also had all the high-end mono tube gear and esoteric speakers you could ask for.  A lot of the dedicated audiophiles seemingly would trade in their no longer wanted gear (on to the next big thing) so you could find and listen to things you (or at least I) could never afford to buy new at much more accessible prices.  I even used to bring in my Goodwill bin finds (Marantz, Yamaha natural sound, etc.) for store credit.  Great shop!

I think there should be 70 fishes. A few new additions didn't make it. Filled the pipes with water to test for leaks. One of the pipe might be leaking... Will need to go back in the crawlspace to see what's going on.

That is a lot of yellow tang biomass in there!  Going to start a captive breeding program 😃  Really starting to take shape - nice job!

Yeah Jeff gave me at his cost which was 185 dollars. I love that he does what he can to make this hobby affordable for hobbyists.  Considering I last switched it out in 2012 (granted with some breaks) it’s a bargain!

Nice!  That is one thing about PDX water - you can actually do an effective job with DI only and not run through resin like crazy.  Very practical!

So this stuff is different. It's a paper buffing pad that takes out scratches not the curium oxide. It's a $300 professional kit.  It was recommended by a local glass shop. .. it's called glass renu.its suppose to never distort. And get deep scratches. I've seen videos it looks amazing just time consuming.

This is really interesting and will be fascinated to hear if it works.  If so, I wouldn't have to plan for @pdxmonkeyboy to build me a new acrylic tank until more like 2050 instead of 2030 😃

Update: Wasn't a disease after all! Too much flow in the tank for the Molly. I turned it down and the spots disappeared!

This is really interesting.  Didn't know that was a potential response to high flow... then again, never tried Mollies in a SW system.  Thanks for sharing!

Yeah I have the connectors. I just stole the Eheim pump off it and using that pump as a dedicated feed pump to my new calc reactor.

Thanks Andrew!  Of course, my original post was supposed to say "equipment hoarders" but you know how that goes...

Looks like pump is about $60 on Amazon so this would make a pretty nice setup for someone and complete with media!  Hmmm....

  11. Hey Andrew - looks like the Eheim pump for that (or one that will work on it) is still available.  Do you happen to have the t-connectors for re-plumbing it?  Could make a nice affordable setup for someone (or a backup for certain equipment hoarders...) 😁
