  1. Wow. These are gorgeous reefnjunkie! I hope you get the photo upload sorted out so we can get more pics - these are pretty spectacular.
  2. Thanks for all the pictures! I hope everyone had a great time - wish I could have made it. Seems like the seahorses and jellies might be new additions since I last went. Pretty slick.
  3. I saw this yesterday as well - quite impressive! Good luck with the new tank. I have been greatly enjoying scrolling through your pics of the old one and am blown away by the colors and the fantastic macros. Thanks for sharing!
  4. Hello all, Tank is gone. Thank you again for your interest and patience.
  5. Just an update for those who have contacted me about this. It is currently in Optimus' court and I should know more a bit later this evening. Thanks for your patience.
  6. No worries. I will definitely let you know if things fall through. It could use a good home after all this time in my basement!
  7. Hi Paratore - I am up in PDX so a bit out of your way. There are a couple folk in line but I will let you know if there are no takers. Thanks!
  8. Man... I wish I had my tank up and running - I would love these pieces and great prices! Good luck with the downsizing.
  9. Hi all, I have had this in my basement for at least 6 years and have never gotten around to this project. It's a 60 gallon acrylic cube (approx. 24x24x24) that is set up for a closed loop system with external overflow, central CL feed and 4 returns already drilled. Looks to be about 3/8 acrylic (black back) in relatively good shape. Stand and canopy to match. Stand is about 35 inches high by about 25 square. Needs some cleaning and minor repair from water damage but solid. Canopy is tall (about 14 inches with a 2 inch overlap and a hinged top drilled for fans. I intended to make a bare bottom SPS tank out of this but never got around to it and now it should go to someone who would like a fun project! I just picked up a different tank and will, sadly, never get around to this! Shoot me a PM if you are interested. Sorry for the rotated pics... not sure what is going on there. Thanks for looking!
  10. Congratulations on getting reunited! Nice to see that a loved tank found its way home. Best of luck on the rebuild - I am in the midst of restarting after many years of down time so I can related.
  11. Did this tour quite a few years ago and it was great. Can't make it this time around but hope to go again in the not too distant future (love Newport). Hope you all have fun this coming weekend and enjoy the experience as much as I did!
  12. That caught my eye as well - really nice! Makes me want to get the new tank up and running all the more quickly but, patience...
  13. Great news - glad to see Woody's is still up and running. I haven't been since they were located off Columbia Blvd. - one of the only shops I know about in this neck of the woods (NE PDX). Always good to see the next generation take an interest in keeping a small business alive. I will make sure to stop in soon.
  14. Just wanted to say that it was great to visit with Chad last weekend, see his amazing collection of gear and trade ideas about how to get the MIG Starphire back up and running. I brought home the first load of equipment last night and couldn't be happier with the great advice and fantastic prices. Thanks again!
  15. Indeed. Some of the colonies in the show tank at the last location were pretty spectacular. It was a real shame to lose that place as a resource. I had some of that tort as well... very nice. Looks like I did end up with the 125 gallon miracles in glass starphire tank - made the first equipment run last night - so I am guessing I will be seeing, or at least talking to, a lot of the folk on here soon.
  16. Thanks! I am looking forward to putting something together. Yes, albertareef has always been my PNWMAS user name but I discovered the board fairly late in my tank-keeping days. Used to go to Souta's when it was run out of Rick's garage.
  17. Ha! That wasn't actually from my tank but it might as well have been. I just googled majano anemone and that came up - gave me the shivers. Thanks Chewie - excited to be back.
  18. Hello all, I am attempting a comeback after several years of downtime. I was most "recently" running a 120 gallon double cube (48X24X24) Tricon tank set up as a mixed reef with 2x250 MH and VHO lighting and all the standard goodies (ca reactor, sea swirls, controller, etc.). I had things dialed in really nicely and had many frags provided by members of this board growing fast and coloring up nicely. That was until my wife got ill and a minor tank crash resulted in the bad boys below taking over and killing all my nice coral! Since then, I tore down the tank (much to the benefit of my electric bill) and stuck it in the basement too disheartened to try and put it back up. In the meantime, over 100 pounds of previously live rock has sat in my driveway taunting me on a daily basis. Despite that, I keep popping into Cuttlefish and Coral on my visits to Mississippi to ogle all the new coral that show up. I know, why torture myself? Well, the wife and I used to spend hours just staring at the tank finding new things to marvel at every day and this is as close as we get anymore. Well... I just don't think I can take it anymore so we talked it over and decided we would try to re-take the plunge. Have been debating large tank vs. small tank (enjoying seeing all the new nanos out there) but our love of wrasses is pushing us toward a decent sized tank again. We taped out a few profiles in the room where we kept the tank and decided we really liked the footprint of a 6ft 125 (72x18x24) and are leaning that way. It may limit the seascaping options but the large viewing area (compared to our 48 inch) seems like a nice bonus and it just fits the space better. Currently trying to secure a Miracles in Glass Starphire so who knows... maybe we will have a tank again soon! Granted, I want to spend some time really getting the setup right so probably nothing happening immediately but, hopefully, I will be back on the board hunting down frags again in the not too distant future! In the meantime, I will try and get reacquainted with the gang on here (ran into Chewie last weekend) and try and get caught up on all the advances that have rolled out over the last few years. Thanks for all of your help during my previous tank experience - I hope to be tapping the vast expertise on this board again soon. All the best...
  19. Hi Chad - I sent you a couple of emails on the craigslist add and just sent a PM - let me know if you didn't get those. Thanks -Sean
  20. Hey Steve - sorry you had a rough one as well. I remember you fighting the "white band" disease issue just before I went belly up. Sorry to hear you lost those colonies, they were awesome. I think at least some of my coral showed the same pathology as yours - did you ever ID a culprit? Unfortunately, I didn't have another system setup to try and save them. I will give you a shout once I think things are stable again (might be a while). Sean
  21. Thanks guys, The sad thing is, I had spent a lot of effort trying to get the tank optimized in the spring and things were really going well - then it all came crashing down at a time when I couldn't really deal with it. I had added the controller system and got that dialed in, plumbed in the chiller, bought backup fans for the hood, got the CA reactor dialed in (oh yeah, that also failed on me along with the other stuff) and was feeling really good about things... therein was my error!!!
  22. Hey all, I just noticed I have been incognito since the end of July! Unfortunately, that is because it turned out to be a pretty bad summer for my tank and I still haven't really recovered from it. Somehow, the combination of non-functional chiller, misbehaving ATO and overgrowth of pest anemone (not majano or aptasia) pretty much took out all my SPS over the course of a couple months. I lost my caps, digi, milli, torts, etc., etc. It really hurt as all of these were doing and looking great until multiple factors conspired to bring it all down. Just to top it off, my wife had surgery (she is OK) which wasn't covered by insurance so I have had neither the time nor $$$ to try and put things back together. The only good news is that my fish have been pretty happy and healthy (go figure). Anway... just wanted to drop a note on here to say "hi" and let all the folks who have helped me out over the last couple of years that I hope to be back again once I get things sorted out. Hope you all had more successful summers!
