  4. Sorry to hear about ur sps... But temp of 82 should be OK. During the summer my tank temp goes from 79 up to 83 almost daily. Wish there is an easier way to tell why sps rtn/stn. I had a major melt down after 7 months in my initial setup. At the time, water parameters tested fine just like now when everything is thriving. Since then, I added algae scrubber, reduced light intensity, and increased fish feeding. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

  8. Lost a flasher wrasse. It jumped out into an empty bucket next to the tank. :( As for corals, couple frags got half buried in the sand and one of my red goni is not looking happy. When I got back: After I cleaned the glass: Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  9. Just got back from 4 week overseas.. After I cleaned the glass, it still looks about the same as last month. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  10. I haven't changed water since Feb 2015 but doubled my volume in Oct 2015 with a frag tank. I do add about a gallon of fresh well mixed saltwater every month to keep up with what the skimmer removes. I also top off fresh saltwater when I buy, sell, and/or trade corals..so that's kinda like regular water changes. ;-) My filter system is very basic: just a protein skimmer and algae scrubber. I feed fish heavily, so I felt that take care of trace elements?? I dose Kalkwasser with ATO and Iron at times. Test/maintain Ca and ALK on monthly basis with CaCl and Baking Soda with online Reef calculator. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

  13. I've been talking to Mike at OBD via email. I really want a deep and tall tank but also like it to be rimless. Hard to decide what to sacrifice... Rimless or height. Maybe we can get a group discount from Mike? ;-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks for those came to get some frags. I'll bring frags for those who already paypal me and said they're going to Sunday's meeting. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  15. Just saw this thread.. So much juicy drama..how did I miss out. ;-) I watched the video. When the skimmer is plugged in, it pulls water from the tank and doesn't overflow the top. Thus, it must be returning the skimmed water back to the tank. However the mixture of air and water seems on the low side. This could be that it was demo with very low water level. My other concerns are 1) the internal structure to maintain water level will cause strong turbulences to prevent good skimmate and possibly cleaning pain. 2) Recirculating air will draw in dry skimmate. 16. I have 2 250watt fixture with some sort of reflectors and mag ballasts. The ballasts may be for mercury vapor bulbs but will fire up Iwasaki 250w 6500k bulbs for sure. Still have some old bulbs. You are welcome to them. If you feel like giving me a frag for those, I won't say no. ;-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
  17. Advantages of a nano is water change is pretty quick and easy. I would try to siphon out as much algae and waste as possible. If you have a good skimmer, try vodka dosing. Otherwise vacuum the sandbed with water change will help a lot. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
