  1. I'm an alliance player also on Hydraxis. Knowing that you're a horde player explains a lot Mick
  2. If it is tempered you will not be able to cut it without it shattering. Most tempered glass is cut first then tempered.
  3. either way should be fine. Totally up to you. If you are using all vho for actinic then i'd run them together.
  4. By the pic that was taken I would say that it was a fertile nest. You will know within a day or two if the eggs start to turn whiteish in color and kind of milky looking. By letting the first couple clutches go they will get bigger which will also increase your chance of success.
  5. Beth, Awesome anthia picture of the one looking straight on. I'd vote for that on should it show up on the PTM.....
  6. Kim, I'll take it. I want to play around with it in the clownhouse and check out flows vs. a similarly rated submersible. Nice thing is noise doesn't matter. PM sent Dave
  7. We are talking to a speaker about coming out in March. There are still some things that need to get worked out first so we'll see if we can put it together.
  8. I can plan on hosting at the clownhouse again this September. I liked it better than October because the weather is typically better. All 32 grow out tanks are now online and should all be filled by then.
  9. Kim & Beth, Thank you again for hosting the meeting. Your new tank looks very nice and can't wait to see your pictorial progression
  10. If you can get the book I would suggest it right away. It will be a big help. Dave
  11. There are actually 27 different species of clowns if I am not mistaken. You will see about 10ish in the local stores on a regular basis. As far as agressiveness they can all be but I would probably stay away from the clarkii's, tomato's, and gold stripe maroons (but you already know about these). Your ocellaris, b&w ocellaris, picasso's, platinums, true percs, and the orange/pink skunks should probably be ok for you. My favorites are the platinums, picasso's, and nigripes.
  12. No I do not breed them anymore. I would check with your local store of choice. I know they come into the wholesaler here in town and your store should be able to get one for you. If not let me know and I'll do some checking around for you to find one.
  13. I would say that if the one you have now is submitting to the percs you have then you either have a male or one that has not yet matured. Yes I would say that a normal maroon and a gold stripe will mate up. You just have to play the game of finding two that will tolerate each other. Good luck.
  14. First of all congratulations !! Second of all settle down a little.... Personally you are better leaving the eggs with the parents as long as possible. They can tend to them far better than a person can. It is difficult enough to incubate them for a day or 2 but virtually impossible imo to incubate them full term. These are going to be some work so don't be discouraged if they die. You may want to consider letting the first batch go and get your setup ready but if you think you are up to it you can give it a try. I have a few questions for you. 1. What is your water temp? 2. You had mentioned that you have a 10g tank for them. That will be fine but do you have anything to black it out from the ambient light? Do you have a either a small clamp on light for the 10g or an incandescent hood? 3. Do you have a small heater for the larval tank? 4. Do you have any rotifers? 5 Do you have any rotifer food whether it be live phtyo or a paste? 6. Do you have any way to hatch baby brine shrimp? I am guessing your tank temperature is approx 77-78 deg so I would estimate the incubation to be 8 days maybe 9. If this is a one time try then you are going to have to deal with at least items 1-6 if you are going to try to raise more than that then you need to invest in Joyce wilkersons book "clownfishes" It is a must have if you are going to try to raise them beyond one clutch. This is a start for you to think about and let me know. Dave
  15. if you want to add that many clowns i would add them all at the same time and all juveniles.
  16. Looks good for the setup. Let me know when it's ready for a pair of clowns and we'll hook her up
  17. I am a fan of the kole tangs also. They are not the most beautiful tang by any means but they are cool looking and a great community tank fish.
  18. From my own personal experience I will never own anther 6 line wrasse. They are a pretty fish but not worth the attitude and problems. The four line wrasses can and tend to be even worse. Besides there's not much better than a picasso There are a ton of fish out there that will get along.....
  19. Welcome aboard Fred, I am the person Mike is referring to that breeds clowns. I am registered at the MBI but haven't started my logs yet. I am barelycuda over there also. If you do some searches on this forum for clownhouse there are some threads with some pics. In a nutshell I have a 240 sq. ft. building in the back yard with 43 tanks now. 11 broodstock and 32 growout. I have spawned 10 different species I believe and currently have approx 2000 fish in the system. We have a couple other breeders locally also. One is Kate (electrokate) on both boards and Brian (Evansbr). Not sure how soon you may be coming up but there is the potential that we are bringing Matt Pedersen in to speak at the end of March also. Dave
  20. Hey Jay, One thing I just noticed is that the little rep power green/red bubbles is above the persons avatar but the rep power number is below their post count.
  21. I think I have her contact info. I'll look it up and see if we can get an update.
  22. If newfisher doesn't take the pump I have a couple of clownhouse experiments I'd like to try with it. Dave
  23. They will definitely take over your tank. I didn't do anything about the ones in my tank soon enough and now I am boiling rock to get rid of them :(
