  1. So I spoke with Matt this afternoon. Since there may not be a lot of time after the meeting to chat I am planning on arriving with Matt at 12:00 for anyone that wants to show up early and talk with him. I have also sent out an invitation to Randy Reed to see if he can show up early also. If there is anyone that has ANY type of question regarding phytoplankton, rotifer cultures, copepod cultures, the reef nutrition line of products this may be your chance to ask the owner yourself. I have spent time with Randy in the past and he is a incredibly nice and intelligent person. I personally cannot think of the last time this club had 2 people of this caliber here locally, and especially at the same time and place.....
  2. Grassi may be interested in the maxima clam for his breeding project.
  3. No you do not have to respond to the evite to attend and you do not have to be a paid member. The more people that attend the better. Here very shortly we will be starting an evite thread that will allow everyone that does not currently receive evites to get on the new list for them. It appears that the database that we are currently using needs to be updated so it will be. There will be some nice stuff to raffle off and I would like to see a large attendance for the meeting.
  4. Here is a shot of the broodstock. Yours should get dark like these. They are a nice looking pair, I like the markings.
  5. They are picasso's or shmowcasso's as Nick likes to call them. They will blacken up as time goes on. The parents are beautiful IMO as they are in tank #5 in the clownhouse Mick has seen them. It will take some time. IF you have been to Westside and seen the pair in Tim's show tank they looked about the same as yours now. I delivered them to him right about a year ago. Since they are a percula variant they are a little slow to grow. One of the best foods you can give them to color them up is cyclopeeze. It is high in anthaxsine (i know I didn't spell that correctly) and will bring out their color the fastest. I'll find you a pic of the broodstock so yo can see what they should darken up to.
  6. Juvenille Bangaii's will school together. It isn't until they start to reach sexual maturity that you will start to have problems. If you start to see 2 fish hanging out consistently away from the others you most likely will have a pair and get the rest out. Once a pair is established they will not tolerate others.
  7. I would recommend a small tank like a 10g. They are inexpensive and will work better for you than a bucket. I would also drill the tank for the drain rather than an overflow box.
  8. Keep an eye on the bagaii's if you see one or more start to get picked on get it out or it will be dead. Males bangaii's will not school together.
  9. Give the wet spot a call first. I tried them a month or two ago and they told me they don't get it during the winter time. Also check to see what day they get it as it can sell out fast. Cayes gets theirs on Wednesday so they should have it now.
  10. I also thought that Joel was making the custom 60g cubes himself right before he closed his shop. I could be wrong but I thought he had a connection on the glass.
  11. Thanks for the compliment. The original one is coloring up fast considering he didn't look much different than the new one only what a few weeks ago.
  12. There is even another one that I like even better than MOFIB. It is the MBI (Marine Breeders Initiative). The site has not been around for long but Matt Pedersen & Matt Wittenrich are moderators on the forum. Matt & Matt are probably 2 of the most respected breeders out there right now. The site is www.mbisite.org You should check it out if you are interested in captive breeding of marine organisms.
  13. So with all of the stuff that has been committed so far there will be over $1000 worth of items that will be raffled off at the meeting!! Lets get a big audience for Matt.
  14. As another surprise for this meeting will be the attendance of Randy Reed from Reed Mariculture. He will be delivering their donations in person and will be in attendance for the presentation. I am sure there will be some time for those that would like to talk with Randy while he is here This is a must attend event. It is very rare to get two people with this much impact on the industry in one room for the afternoon. Matt is probably one of the most knowledgeable people in the fish breeding hobby and Randy is one of the owners of the Reef Nutrition line of products and one of the largest marine aquaculture product companies in the world!
  15. I got a call from Nuri Fisher this afternoon. He is the owner of PE Mysis. They are sending a CASE of PE Mysis blister packs for the meeting. I will be getting it next week.
  16. In addition to the presentations Reed Mariculture will be sending up some products that will be raffled off and I will be donating a pair of Platinum Clowns that will be raffled off also.
  17. It is not impossible to raise them. People are raising them now. I will tell you that it is a lot of work and very slow but it is possible.
  18. Matt just PM'd me. He is bringing up a couple of books and Reed Mariculture is sending some stuff up for the meeting also
  19. Going to try to drum up some extra funds for the club. Mike you may want to post this up as bait to the other clubs you've invited
