  1. I never dump store water into my tank. Float for temp, dump back into bucket, dump some tank water in, repeat a few times, ... go from there.
  2. Congratulations! Thats awesome. Is there a link to what the prize is you can post? Or just paste some extra details.
  3. Turns out, I brought a hard copy of their catalog home with me. Here's the relevant info, should help with some google searches. And last page is MSRP price list.
  4. I should be there. But generally I'm producing to consume myself. I do occasionally trade... PM me.
  5. Amazon sells them, although finding the long ones was hard. It seems they do sales through ebay as well. Try a couple of these searches on both ebay and amazon. Tamsco stainless tongs 24" Aquarium Tongs 24" aquarium tweezer BTW, their website is soo slooow I couldn't even use it. http://www.tamsco.biz
  6. Harvest #21 update: We've been out of town, so this batch Cooked longer than normal Followed the same regime as last time. Grew >14days, had fish sitter add 2nd batch of fertilizer half way through Same result.. Dark good looking Phyto!
  7. I use a variety of tongs/grabbers/etc for when I'm trying to not get my hands wet. But generally, I get my hands in. Picked up my most recent addition at MACNA in early Sept, Titanium Tongs. My stainless steel ones never seem to stay clean/stainless, unless I rinse in fresh water after every use. So I'm going to try these. But this company had a big selection available. Check out the last picture, of the guy holding his latest addition. Long the jaws open remotely. Looked good to pick corals up that may have fallen behind rocks. (My tank needs to grow out more before I can't easily reach the bottom, so I didn't pick them up)
  8. For me, 0.04 is fine … but In my system they dropped from that to zero too fast, without me realizing, and caused complete chaos. (My system). it happened multiple times, with me not realizing why things were going down hill, …. so, you numbers look fine. are you monitoring regularly, are they moving up and down much. Especially, are they dropping down very often? If not, your good.
  9. Harvest #20 done ! Updates; Repurposed my outdoor grow experiment container into indoor Pod Grow container (big jug) Why, because it's going to be easier to feed them. When water turns clear, unscrew cap, dump in more phyto. (there's free space) This is one of the Darkest harvests I've had. Doesn't show as well in the bottles, but was really obvious while still in the jars. @Flash21 - Maybe try this. Couple of things done differently. slightly longer grow cycle, about 14days half way through, added another dose of fertilizer Looks really good! Harvested Restarted
  10. Attended MACNA last weekend. Visited the Biota booth, and noticed a funny colored tang. Booth person called them a Yurple tank, cross of purple and yellow tank. Explained they were only supposed to have one tang at the booth, but because of a shipping issue, they ended up with two. Cool, interesting story, okay... This morning, checked Biota's website. Yurple = $10,000/fish! I was THIS close to TWO of them. Overall, the biota booth had beautiful healthy fish and was an joy to see. 11. Met This guy on the elevator in the hotel… Interesting prototype product. SeaTak, an replacement for underwater epoxy. Starts Tacky right away and cures in something like 30 minutes. I need some of this the moment it comes out. No more superglue/epoxy sandwiches.
  12. That’s us! 2nd or 3rd in line for the 8th annual Neptune breakfast. and yea, That’s my wife in front of me. 😀
  13. I'm flying into ORD 7am direct flight from PDX Thursday morning, and then renting a car - driving up. If you're on the same flight, I can give you a ride. I didn't investigate any other options.
  14. We leave Thursday for MACNA. Should be a good time. Posted an interesting talk format for the club.
  15. Check this out. New style of talk. Video's are already available, and to all, and the live talk will all be QnA. Don't know if others want to watch the videos. MACNA 2022: Education Are you prepared for Dr Craig Bingman's talk? "A Brief History of Calcification: From Limewater to Everything Else and Back Again." This is his first attempt at a "flipped" aquarium presentation. That means you can watch stuff now at home, in your robe and slippers, and we can use the conference time for questions and discussion. Watch the videos and take the survey before the talk! Dr. Bingman's MACNA website
  16. Great Video. I assume the max safe volume of H2O2 (34%) to apply depends on volume of total system. One syringe full has a different effect in a 5 gallon pico tank, than a 500 gallon setup.
  17. Thoughts: What you described is completely doable. (but frag tank drain has to be higher than lip into the sump, plus sump must handle extra volume - per @cjmdh comments) As noted, there's not that much "head pressure" on the return line. I'd personally upside it significantly. Something like a 2-2.5" pvc pipe. larger volume, even with less head pressure/lower natural flow speed. I'd put a clean out drain under the house, on the lowest point of the plumbing. Maybe even a hose connector to make it easier. unless under your house is heated, I'd wrap the pipes in insulating foam. My system is half in the garage, and Oregon cold days make a heck of a dent on temp.
  18. Trimmed again last night. And thanks to @Brittany for supplying this at the last club meeting, I have some leafy red algae growing in this tank as well. (Forgot the name of it) Before harvest (yes, ugly red on top. got clipped and thrown away) Thanks @Brittany Pile of Harvest, going to the garbage
  19. Love your idea for floating the berghia containers! Better approach than I took.
  20. Agreed - that's one awesome video. And @SuncrestReef, we love your goby - thank you for sharing!
  21. He's happy. Mine moves sand too. What I'm happy about is the moves are generally on the bottom of the tank. As opposed to taking a mouthful of sand, swimming up into the water column, and dropping it all over the top of my corals. I can live with piles of sand being moved around.
