  1. This one? https://smile.amazon.com/Black-Aquarium-Silicone-Sealant-Cartridge/dp/B00EZB2MDI/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1DBO6KSWH82VE&keywords=ASI+black+silicone&qid=1654815014&sprefix=asi+black+silicone%2Caps%2C197&sr=8-2
  2. I had a plague of Asterina starfish in my last tank. Was manually removing 50 or more starfish Per Day from a 4' 120g tank. Added a pair of Harlequin shrimp and the starfish VANISHED. Record time. I probably had the shrimp a month-ish before taking them back and to share with someone else. Amazing hunters. Thanks for sharing the video.
  3. I need to do a little silicon work on my tank as well. What silicon did you use? (clear, black? brand? get it from anyplace special?)
  4. End view, while waking up this morning.
  5. BTW - My all time favorite airpump is the legacy Tetra Luft pump. I'm using one of them as well on the setup.
  6. Looks like $380 at BRS today. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/db-100-fragging-band-saw-with-diamond-blade-inland-craft.html
  7. simple Eheim: Quiet Air Pump 200 (s), except I'm not thrilled with the volume it produces. I'm planning an upgrade to better airflow soon.
  8. An older Inland. Bought it from Ken, who also sold me my tank... and btw, is a great guy. Thanks @Kshack
  9. To those considering setting up a system, I suspect the price tag on this setup has you stopped in your tracks. Hint, by the time you get your setup going - it's going to be more. Might as well start off with the right gear, configured the right way, and then you can just focus on the learnings.
  10. Welcome Back! Always great to see aqua culturists, especially when they post pictures, experiences, setups, and learnings. Looking forward to reading about some of yours. Right now, I'm a phyto and pod farmer. Nothing more. Still trying to figure out the needs of one feeding the other/etc.
  11. I do, yes. That's how I cut the frag and plugs cleanly in half.
  12. A quick share. I've been growing out an Oregon Mummy Eye chalice. It was doing great, it died way back during my 2021 battle with Dinos (different thread), and has been recovering. But I really want TWO colonies, not one. So I cut my frag, it's plug, the support plug, right down the middle. Coral Saws are awesome. FYI, I grow frags like this on "double decker" plugs. So when they expand, they don't grow onto the frag rack so fast. Photos for fun. OME Cut in half, and the two double decker plugs setting. Look closely, you can see the cut line on the OME plug base. This was so clean I'm sure they'd grow back together if I let them. Half OME frags, ready to be glued onto their new grow out plugs. Frags glued, their original lowest tier plug removed.
  13. Break Even Milestone! Harvest #10 is complete. Mentally, I set the goal of successfully completing 10 harvests and this would be my effort/cost break even point. Of course, If I'd purchased all the phyto I've produced (instead of growing it) I'm way ahead now. But I never would have bought enough to supply the tank with 16-32oz of phyto a-day, I just wouldn't have spent the $. Pods are still consuming more phyto than I'd like to allocate to them. So moving them to new jar wo/light (they'll get ambient rom other jars), and convert their jar to more phyto. Also considering large outside continuous grow experiment. More details if it works out.
  14. I've been following the Reef Moonshiners program since fall of 2021. (basically, take ICP test monthly, enter into excel sheet, get recommendations what to add). Download the Reef Moonshiners Handbook (free) and read. You'll find Iron should be undetectable in an ICP test, and then it's recommended for "Daily Dosing." If you tell me how many gallons your tank is, I'll type it into the excel sheet and tell you their recommendation. On my 350 total volume system it's two drops/day of their solution. Yes, I'm doing it and Chaeto is growing. FYI, elements recommended for daily addition are: Iron, Manganese, Chromium, and Cobalt (yes, I'm using them all) I can't claim magic from Moonshiner program, but my elemental chemistry has been interesting to watch via monthly ICP tests, monthly "corrections" to bring elements back in range, and to see which elements tend to run out month-over-month. For example, the last two months, both Zinc and Nickle have been almost zero on monthly ICP tests. I do Full Strength corrections, and the next month... basically zero. Oh, and my corals are growing well. (remember I was also fighting Dinos, chemical imbalance, then Aptasia, ... now sps have returned to growth) https://www.reefmoonshiners.com/
  15. Harvest #9 is complete. Also harvested the Pods, this colony seems to have really kicked off. Now stripping all phyto mid week, and needs More. Restarted with 100% phyto. No Dilution This picture is BEFORE restarting the pods. (farthest jar on left is pods, basically clear of phyto - Again)
  16. I've got a strong growth of gorgonian going. I'll happily share. I have two colonies of the gorgonian visible on the right side of this pict. I'm on the west side of PDX, north of hwy 26, off cedar hills exit. PM me if interested.
  17. It's great to see active and successful breeding happening locally. Keep the updates and explanations coming.
  18. Unfortunately, we have a along standing commitment in town and will be unable to attend. Have a great time everyone!
  19. WAIT!! Of course I didn't find the right info. July 17th isn't on a Saturday. ... And then I see the subtle detail in the graphic... "2021" (last year) Do you know if an event is scheduled for 2022?
  20. Another successful harvest. #8 is complete. Also harvested the Pods, fed 4/5 to the main tank, restarted with 100% phyto. No Dilution Basically, that's almost an entire jar of phyto used to restart pods This picture is BEFORE restarting the pods. (farthest jar on left is pods, basically clear of phyto - Again)
  21. Oh I wish I knew about this beginning of this week, instead of the day before it happens. I could have changed my weekend plans to attend. Argh, don't think I can do that now. Are there any other shows within drivable (from Portland) PNW region in the rest of 2022? Anyone know?
