  1. Hey everyone just wanted to share a project that my wife and I just did for my mother in law. She just purchased a new house so we decided to handle her new dining room table. It came out so well that I think I am going to redo the door for my tank stand. Here are a few before and after photos.
  2. I will let you know when I can get them removed. I have 4 rainbows and 3 rose.
  3. Not in a huge hurry, want to remove all 7 of them but if it takes a week to gather them so be it. Ideally I would like to preserve my scape but if I will break the rock up if necessary. I will never put BTA’s in my display again lol. 2 small ones turned into 7 large ones over the last 3 years and they just take up to much space. Whats the beat way to house them as I remove them, a plastic strainer? Hoping to sale or trade them in all at once not one at a time as I remove them.
  4. Im going to try something I read on Reef2reef. Supposedly if you cove them with a terra cotta pot they will usually walk up the inside towards the drain hole where the light enters. Ill let you guys know how it works thanks for the advice everyone.
  5. Yea held the rock outside the tank till I couldn’t hold it anymore probably 15 -20 min. The feet are to deep for the ice cube trick.
  6. That actually a gives me a good idea, maybe I can cover them with a dark plastic container and get them to walk.
  7. Trying to get rid of the BTA’s from my tank, cant seem to get them to let go. Tried power head pointed at them, tried holding rock upside down outside the tank till I could no longer hold it. Most the feet are deep inside cracks in the rock so can’t really get to the feet. Don’t particularly want to start breaking apart the rock but if thats the only option I guess I will have no choice. Leaving them is not an option as I am trying to move on to growing some more SPS.
  8. Myth: Oh dont worry you can set up a budget tank. Reality: Take the money you plan on spending and burn it for fun. Then take what you planed on spending double it, add another 50% and you may be ready to add corals.
  9. Yea I am guilty of doing it in heavy traffic especially when its hot af. Nothing worse then sitting in the hot sun not moving, heat stroke is real especially when you have no roof to provide shade. I may not always be the most responsible rider, my bike identifies as a unicycle sometimes, but when I lane split I do it responsibly and try to be considerate to other motorist.
  10. The bill will only allow lane splitting on the freeway and the motorcyclist can not exceed 15mph. It would only be relevant in stop and go traffic. The most dangerous thing for a motorcyclist in stop and go traffic is getting rear ended and pinched between 2 cars. A side swipe is substantially less dangerous and causes less bodily harm on average. Responsible lane splitting saves lives and has been proven to do so world wide. Irresponsible lane splitting is stupid.
  11. Thank god we may get legal lane splitting here, HB2314.
  12. Hanna alk checker is a life saver once you start stocking with corals. I second the getting decent test kits for cal, no3 and po4. Another good way to get hair algae at bay is start a algae scrubber or a refugium now, it will out compete the stuff in the display for the most part in the long run.
  13. My tank gets up to 8.4-8.5 when I have a window open according to my apex. Never noticed an issue.
  14. Thats exactly why I asked, I always got a false positive with the API ammonia test kit. If it is .25 in my experience that is 0.
  15. What ammonia test are you using? You could try adding some ammonia getting it to 1-2ppm and see if it drops back down in 24 hours. If you do this make sure you get ammonia without any added scents or other additives, Ace Hardware has it.
  16. Never saw a thread covering this and figured it may be a good way to see others tanks more regularly, and other hobbies of members. My ig is Mr_z_503
  17. That thing has been on there a while. Very surprised its still on there.
  18. Well a few increased doses of ALK and a 20% water change and everything is back inline and stable for a few days now 😃 Cal may be 10 ppm off from the old stable but I will take it. I had zero casualties and everything appeared healthy then I thought such a big dip in stability would have caused. Even my first round of frags that I have ever made about 2 weeks prior to the incident survived and have grown a little during the dip. Thanks everyone for their advice.
  19. Thats exactly what I did expect use it to house a scrubber. The Red Sea ATO’s are a joke of a size
  20. I run a skimmer and a algae scrubber. I fell the scrubber exports nutrients that have broke down but the skimmer removes large particles before they break down and helps keep a stable ph. Pretty much what @Manny Tavan said but a scrubber instead. A scrubber may be a better option for you since you have limited space.
  21. Thats what I used to do but it seemed I was always having to make adjustments. When I switched to the balling method I stuck with equal amounts and everything stabled out within a few weeks and I only have had to make a small adjustment evenly every few months. That being said my alk to cal ratio has not been this far off from one another since I started the balling method. Im at a toss up, I dont want to have to start chasing numbers like I used to do when I dosed separate amounts of alk and cal, but I am unsure if it will balance out without a manual correction. Maybe I should just do 20% water change now that everything is close to being inline with what it was before the issue.
