  1. Going heater shopping today, thinking of trying to find a titanium heater, think I saw some the other week at The Wet Spot.
  2. It is scary that heater is plugged into the Red Sea power block that cam with my E170 and did not trip the breaker on it. It also did not trip the gfci outlet that block is pluged into.
  3. Everything looks fine this morning. All corals and anemones opening up fully as the lights are ramping up. I did a bunch of reading last night and it seems I caught just in time. Everyone who I read about that had fish or coral deaths seems to have not caught it right away which let the resin inside the heater get into the water. When I got mine out of the water no resin had oozed out of the crack yet. The smoke smelt terrible but no smell to water or cabinet this morning. I think I got really lucky and dodged the bullet. I had just got back Triton water tests on Thursday so I am going to order another test and send in asap to see if it leached any heavy metals.
  4. Just had a neotherm heater explode. Was sitting on couch and heard a loud boom from in the sump. Got up and made it to the tank in less then 5 seconds opened the sump door and saw bubbling and lots of smoke. Quickly shut off the heater and had it out of the sumo in less then 30 swconds from when it popped. I filled a mesh filter sock with carbon and put in a high flow area. Its been about 30min now and everything looks happy. BTA’s still fully inflated, they usually shrink if I even have my hand in the tank for less then a few seconds. Duncan corals still fully open, they usually close up with any type of swing. I was lucky I was sitting right next to the tank and was able to act at olympic athlete speed. Should I worry? Should I make up some water do a large water change tomorrow? Tank has been super stable and I have rarely been doing water changes as the seen to slightly throw things off for a day or two after water changes. Here are a few pics one showing the crack in the heater and one after I removed the broken plastic to see what happened.
  5. Im in the picture, you just didn’t look close enough 😉
  6. Tank is a e170, to small for a tang 😢. Guess I will just have to keep an eye on it and pull it as I see it pop up. It gows in the center of a zoa garden so its hard to see the runners.
  7. Found this stuff again. Here are a few more photos. The runners really latch on to the rock. Still only on one rock. Any ideads of what it may be? Should I consider adding an emerald crab, maybe it would eat it?
  8. Thanks for following up 😁. It looks like it is very slowly healing. Her personality has not changed at all. Got my fingers crossed that it completely heals up but at this rate it may take a month or so.
  9. Happy wife happy life. If you marry the right person that will come easy!
  10. Great thank you for all your advise 😁
  11. Sounds like it was for the better.
  12. Also Prime claims to help restore slime coat. Is there an advantage to stresscoat over prime? If I can not net her would there be any disadvantage to just dosing prime to the display directly? I had a small ammonia spike about a year and half ago and dosed directly to tank for 2 days while doing water changs and had no ill effects. I also use prime when doing water changes on my planted tank so I have it on hand.
  13. I may be able to net her without having to remove any rock work. What would you recommend for ratio of sw to stresscoat for the bath and how long of a bath?
  14. 1. It has been about 3 weeks. 2. I believe there are scales missing. It looks fairly raw, but not 100% sure as she is so active all the time it is hard to get a look for longer then half a second. I was just able to get a somewhat better photo with flash. 3. She occasionally will flash against the sand but does not favor one side as opposed to the other. I have assumed the flashing against the sand as just normal clown behavior. She has done this for the 2 1/2 uears I have had her and never seen her do it against rocks. More like she is stirring the sand then flashing. I have added nothing to my tank in 6-7 months. These two things have steered me away from really considering a parasite. 4. No swelling that I can tell. 5. She seems to swim completely normal. All her fins seem fine. 6. Seems the same size as when it appeared. 7. Two and a half years. She will not stay still long enough for a good photo. I have probably tried to take 50 photos and this is the best I could get. I may have to pull out the gopro and film her so I can screenshot a decent photo if necessary.
  15. That has been my thought, if its just a wound and as long as she continues to act normal I feel ot may be more stressful to remove her. I know stress can make things worse sometimes. I have not introduced anything new to the tank in months so I am fairly confident its not a parasite.
  16. I wouldnt medicate my display. If meds are needed I will definitely set up a qt.
  17. I do have a few flower anemones not sure how bad their sting would be, and they do fight a lot less but have short more violent fights when they do. So probably just a wound of somesort. I dont have a qt is it something that I should set up or would it be more stressful to remove her from her home of 2 1/2 years? If qt the best option should I be treating the water with any medication?
  18. Can the anemone sting and leave that big of a wound on a clown? If so Im not to concerned as it would just be part of the hosting process and the wound should heal.
  19. She is acting normal. Both my clowns have always done the shaking. The did seem to do it more when they were younger and fighting for dominance bit now the female is clearly the boss. When they do fight now they dont seem to do the shake as often but are more aggressive in their quick fights.
  20. No coral or saltwater related items this year, do motorcycle parts count 😂.
  21. My female clownfish has this spot on her left side. She has had it for a few weeks but seems as healthy other then the spot. She is acting completely normal and is a pig as usual when it comes to feeding. I had originally thought it was a bite from a squabble with the male clown but its not going away. I have noticed she has finally started showing interest in a BTA the last week or so but has not completely committed to nestle into it. She just seems to be passing by, checking it out and occasionally quickly swimming throug it. Is it possible it stung her and causes a wound? I thought they could just dive in if they ever decided they wanted the anemone to host them. I dont have a QT, how should I handle?
  22. Spoke with the customer service lead Jason this afternoon. I was very impressed by his professionalism. New flipper blades on the way already, received a tracking number in less then a hour after speaking with him. He also promised he was going to not only look into the reason the ball got dropped after I had made several attempts to have BRS correct the issue he also stated that he was going to look into ways to ensure this does not happen to others in the future. He made a great point that BRS hires hobbiest over those with a strong background in customer service, customer service can be taught, reef passion cannot. Jason restored my faith in BRS.
  23. Well I received a post on my R2R post this morning from the man Randy himself. I also received an email from a guy named Jason who is the customer service lead at BRS along with his number so we can discuss the order. I will update here after I speak with him to what the outcome is. Glad it looks like they will be able to resolve this. I just wish it had never made it to the point where I had to publicly post this on either fourm. We all know mistakes happen, and when they do the most important thing is a prompt resolution.
