  2. Oh yes the big salt blocks lol! Then all the scraping... I think I spent all this $ I'm going to use it lol. I still buy the buckets though on sale, just recently bought a couple or I'd think about this deal. Can't have more than a couple at a time, my husband's been calling me a hoarder as it is. 3. Nice! Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  4. Maybe you could try the endoscope thing just to get a better idea of what's going on in there? If the waters going down the emergency drain something's gotta be up with your main drain I'd think but I'm no expert... Any missing fish or snails? Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  5. I'm in [emoji178] with my new Kole tang! I was originally planning on getting another Hippo but now I'm glad I found this one on here instead. I've been calling it a She, obviously no way to know but it looks like a She to me [emoji39] It hid for at least the first 24 hours but I would see it's bright yellow eyes peeking out of the rocks [emoji23] I'm assuming it got hungry enough to venture out and has been out and about since. And those lips! [emoji23] I've been calling it Crazy Lips, constantly sucking on the glass and rocks and opening it's mouth really wide to slurp up food. I never got this much entertainment from a Hippo Tang, I absolutely adore this [emoji226]. I'll try to snap a decent picture today, I kept trying yesterday but it was scared of the flash from the camera and is super fast so the pics were mainly blurs. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  6. That giant Leather I got from you is doing absolutely amazing, I swear it's already grown the past few weeks and it definitely stands out. If you do decide to re-home your nem I may be interested, if your girlfriend would be ok with meeting again next weekend at C&C or somewhere I believe I'm buying a Rock Flower and possibly another nem or two from pdxmonkeyboy next weekend If he's available so I'd be out more your direction anyway and I can bring some cash, your Clowns may be disappointed though... My new tank is basically dedicated to Nems and still have plenty of room and yours is beautiful so I'd be happy to take it off your hands. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  7. [emoji23] this was entertaining, love it Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  8. Wow thanks so much for all this information! I started thinking maybe someone got confused, like with how boiling veggies can take away a little nutrition. Could be wrong but 90 percent is definitely a leap that surprised me and I couldn't find anywhere where that could be fact. It kind of worried me because I had been feeding all my Tangs what turned out to be roasted Nori for over a year (couple years ago before my crash) and I just bought the same brand yesterday. I put it in my tank and my new Kole tang went nuts but my Skimmer didn't [emoji23] so it turned out I didn't waste a long drive to WinCo to buy it. I also went ahead and ordered some of the One Organic brand, should be here today. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  9. First thing that came to mind was a clog... Never had a Red Sea tank though so I'm not at all familiar with the plumbing. On my newer 50 Acrylic I don't have an emergency drain only one drain with flex hose so I've been obsessive about keeping it clean. At least it's easy to remove to clean, I have a Stockman stand pipe in the overflow that's easy to remove to clean too. I've been trying to think of a way to add an emergency drain to this tank but there's not much room in the overflow, it's a center overflow with the Stockman directly down the center so not enough room to add one. It's a bottom drilled tank, if it was in the back it would probably be easier to add an emergency drain. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  10. I couldn't find anything either, that was the first I've heard of that. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk

  12. Nice, must be a good product for how many people are using it. I'll order it then [emoji106] Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  13. So apparently roasted doesn't make a difference? Someone said it takes away a lot of the nutrition but I can't find anywhere where it states it as fact, and the kind I bought from WinCo yesterday that I always bought before is roasted as well... My main concern originally was finding a brand that won't make my Skimmer freak out with foam. I just bought the WinCo kind and will try it today when I get home but I will buy something like this as well, I just needed something for now Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  14. The one I have is waterproof, a lot like the one I have is sold for home brewing, aquariums and reptiles, it has a plug for hot and for cold so you could plug a heater in the hot a fan in the cold. That's how I have it on two tanks, the other I just have the fan on a timer. If you read the details on them it will tell you if it's waterproof. When you do the search look for aquarium temp controllers and chances are they're waterproof Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  15. I'll probably order something like this too, I'm going to Winco after work and picking up the kind I always used to buy. I never had problems with my skimmer with it and my tangs loved it, it's just a bit longer drive but I need some asap. I love this fish, it's so beautiful!! I'm hoping it gets over it's shyness fast though Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  16. That's the kind I've always bought, I'll probably just have to make the drive to WinCo today. I just couldn't believe how this stuff I bought made my skimmer foam like that. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  17. Wow that's interesting I never knew that, I'll try a different kind. I've always bought the same kind in the past but I live out by hagg lake and Safeway just happened to be closest. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  18. I'll try and get some pics when I get home, it's still pretty shy when I get close to the tank but I'm hoping that doesn't last long Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  19. Does anyone buy the Nori specifically for [emoji226]? Is there a real difference? Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  20. So I bought a Kole Tang a couple days ago, been quite a while since I've had a Tang so I bought some Nori. Almost immediately after putting the Nori on an algae clip my Skimmer started going nuts and frothing, bubbles bubbles everywhere. I just bought it from the grocery store (Safeway) it's a different brand than I used to buy at Winco I can't remember what brand I used to buy at Winco but I never had this problem with it. I've attached a pic of what I bought. What brand would anyone recommend that won't make my skimmer go nuts??? I think I'll just have to make the drive to WinCo? I read the packaging before I bought it, it's just Nori seaweed no flavorings or anything but I did just notice it's roasted. I don't know if that could make any difference? 21. What size heater are you currently using? I'm going to guess you're using a 50 watt? A 75 watt or 100 would be perfect for a 28 gallon, I've used used 75's and 100's on my 29 gallons in the past. You could even use two 50 watts. I have quite a few spare heaters if you lived closer you could have from when I took down my Show Guppy tanks last year mostly 50 watt. It also makes a difference what brand you use too I've found out over the years. But if you use a controller it should help take out some of the guess work, I'm using Eheim Jagers on two tanks right now and they seem to heat better so you could probably get away with a smaller wattage with one Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
  22. As far as temp controllers go they all do the same thing but some hold their settings if you unplug or power goes out, some have one plug some have two plugs if you want to plug in multiple things, most cost between $20-$40 and Amazon is great, just look up aquarium temp controllers or reptile temp controllers. Whether your problem is too hot or too cold it will keep your temp consistent, and you plug your heater into it and it keeps your heater on until it gets to the correct temp and kicks it off so it doesn't get too hot (kind of like the heaters are SUPPOSED to do lol) As far as temp controllers go they all do the same thing but some will hold settings if power goes out and that's nice to have, most cost between $20-$40 online. Amazon is great for them, just look for aquarium temp controllers or reptile temp controllers. Sent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk

  24. Oh wow I love this [emoji16] my tank sitter (and my dogs, cats and ferrets sitter) is a 13 year old girl from down the street. She comes over quite often to hang out with my daughter and stare at my tanks so she asks tons of questions, she has it down so there's nothing I even say except when we are coming back. My tanks are pretty automated, probably not like yours though so really the only thing she does is a visual check, empties skimmate if needed. I have Eheim automatic feeders so she feeds frozen every other day while I'm gone. I got a Kole Tang (first Tang I've got since the crash a couple years ago) yesterday so I'll be adding feeding Nori to that list. This is my first Kole tang, I was originally planning on a Blue Hippo Tang but I saw kjlife who lives less than a mile from my work selling his 65 gallon on this forum with fish, corals and I couldn't resist the Kole so I picked it up yesterday after work. Beautiful fish, I'm glad now I chose a Kole since I still haven't decided yet what size I'll be upgrading my 75 to next year, and from what I understand the Kole tangs tend to stay in the smaller side for a Tang which is good in case I decide to upgrade in the ~100 gallon range instead of something even bigger which my husband would absolutely love [emoji23] (he would NOT love...) 25. I agree [emoji817].I was having temp swings from 78-82-83 within 12 hours, was considering a chiller. When I was researching what to do I read these kinds of temp swings can make your fish more susceptible to diseases, I now use those cheap fans from Walmart aimed across my tanks and bought temp controllers for all my tanks and now I barely fluctuate a half degree so just doing that made a huge difference!! I have the fans on timers to come on a few minutes after my lights do. Someone recommended those temp controllers you use for reptiles and such and they're definitely worth it, I use one on all three of my tanks now. You can get them on Amazon for like ~$20. They keep your heater from getting stuck on (this caused my terrible crash a couple years ago, lost almost everything) and it's amazing how much of a difference a couple small fans aimed across your water makes. This is the temp controller I use on all my tanks, does as advertised. I like this one because if the power goes out it holds your settings, I've been using three of them for about two months or so and they've been great so far. I was using another brand on one of my tanks for about a year and a half but I would have to reset it if the power went out and it was annoyingSent from my BLU R1 HD using Tapatalk
