  1. I typed "a drain hole" and it thought I was name calling. Ha!
  2. Okay, I've asked this in a few other places, but haven't gotten a good answer yet. Is it possible to make a hole in a glass tank bigger? I have a 1" drain, but I'd love to have it closer to 1.5". I have to keep the return at about half speed or the drain can't keep up. I know I could drill a second drain, but then I'd have to take the overflow out and build a new one. Has anyone ever tried to drill over an existing hole?
  3. If you can wait til Sunday, I can stop by for a few.
  4. http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/zip/5164811703.html I just saw this. Someone go grab them.
  5. That would be great! I forgot to mention I'm in vancouver. So close by is a bonus.
  6. Does anyone have some egg crate scraps I can have? I know it's cheap, but I don't really want to buy a whole sheet just for a few little pieces. I need 3 strips that are 8" x 1" Thanks in advance
  7. Blenny pending to frank. I think 300 gallons should give him plenty of space.
  8. I have a big starry blenny that has outgrown my tank. He's 5-6" and kind of a butt. He is also looking skinny since he destroyed all the algae in the tank. I'm going to be moving in August and would love to have someone to take him while I have the tank torn apart.
  9. Thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with the way it's coming together. I don't have a specific chiller in mind yet... I'm going to need one that's 1/10th hp. I'm sure it won't be able to fit in the stand, but maybe I'll get one of those hollow ottomans from Jeremy's post a few weeks back.
  10. Progress! I spray painted the inside of the bowl black with krylon fusion, then sealed it all with a few layers of envirotex lite, pour on epoxy. I also found a stand that I think will work. I'm thinking about sanding and repainting the stand a darker color. Now I just need to find something to use for a sump. The bottom section of the stand is basically a 16" cube, so the 10g tank I was going to use won't work. I also need to find a way to hide a chiller. Oh well, one thing at a time I guess.
  11. Those are the sales threads that remind me how spoiled we are here.
  12. Will an aqualifter work? You sold me one a while back that I've just been keeping as a spare. You can have it back if you want it.
  13. Ha! I should try that trick on my wife. There'd be plenty of room once she kicked me out for bringing another tank home.
  14. The edge is tempting. I'd love to plumb a tiny frag tank into one of the nanos. If I only had more room...
  15. Thanks again. I'm always jealous of your set up when I see it. The lepto is easily the brightest thing in my tank.
  16. I'm making a trip out on Saturday. If anyone in my area needs frags delivered, let me know.
  17. It's been a while, but I thought if share what worked for me. Turns out my problem was a bad ro membrane in my filter. Once I replaced that and got tds back to 0 on the top off water, it was fairly easy. I did 5g water changes every day for a week, then 5g every other day for two weeks. It's been a few months with no sign of returning. So, if/when you come up against this, just be diligent until it's gone. Pretty simple fix overall, just took some time and patience.
  18. I was searching around for a reef safe epoxy to use on the inside of the bowl that will be the tidepool tank. I came across this on another forum. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=392144 He laid down a layer of sand, then just covered it with this pour on epoxy sealant. Looks pretty sweet. It still looks like a sand bed, but is easy to clean like bare bottom.
  19. I'll take one of the 40$ leptos too. I've been looking for that one.
  20. Black was my original idea, plus I already have black spray paint.
  21. I need some opinions... The inside of the bowl I'm using is unglazed clay. It's kind of a reddish color. I want to paint it, but I can't decide if black or white would be better. Black would make the corals pop more, but white would make the whole thing brighter overall. What do you guys think?
  22. Thanks again Isaac. As usual, your frags don't disappoint. The zoas are open and happy 15 minutes after being put in the tank.
