  1. I'm in sort of a pickle without my wife working and can't afford to buy new right now. I'm in search of some sort of modern day propeller type circulation pumps used for a reasonable price. Something that will work in a 36x20 tank. If I am unable to find one I am willing to just go old school and use a few plain old power heads Pm me what you have and how much and I'll see what I can do. Dave
  2. I had one, never used it with actual fish in the tank. It did have great color and the build quality A+. I had planed on a fowlr tank then to up grade later to reef. But decided to sell it and just go with a light I could program as needed. I did like the fact they were water resistant if dropped in the tank. But didn't like the plastic slider bar mounts for a rimless tank. I like the current wire mounts better. For only 35w it was plenty bright on a 21" deep tank. I know they are your competitors. But, world of wet pets have them on some of there tanks If you want to see in person.
  3. I responded the same thing in the other double post. Oops
  4. I know it's not what you asked for. If you were to buy one of these http://t.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/power-inverters.html?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F And a cheep 100' extension cord. You could hook it to your car and probably run everything but your lights for many hours. I have the $19.99 400w and can run all sorts of things off of it when I'm camping. Anyway this is my plan.
  5. Would also like some live rock. Maybe branch type if possible?
  6. 32lbs of Samoa pink #1 Decided on a different sand and have no need for this $20. Trade for softy/LPS or used GFO reactor used propeller type power head?
  7. I bought some rock off a member here for a very reasonable price. About $1 per pound with some included corals, snails and hermits. Very nice shapes and sizes. But it also included a bit of an algae problem and some aptaisia. I had no problem with this, I just dealt with it in a tote for a month. Then when I was done just transferred it to my display tank. So far so good. A bit of hair algae tried to make a run for it. But I combated that with two turbo snails and a small Scopes Tang. They took care of it within a few days. So it depends on how much work you want to invest in rock? For me it's more sporting and gave me something to do.
  8. Welcome back to the hobby. I returned just a few weeks ago after many years, how things have changed.. WOW! I make it a point to read up on the new to me changes every night for a few hours now. Like carbon dosing, Poring good vodka in my aquarium? When I read about that 10 years ago I thought they were nuts. Now it all makes sense. Dave
  9. It's not going to stay fowler that's why I bought the light. It's been quite a few years since I was in the hobby so I'm taking it slow. I'm trying to buy the best I can afford so in the future I don't have to re-buy to convert over to reef. I do have a few soft corals that came on the rock that are doing great. The last time I was in the hobby I had a Red Sea Berlin skimmer if that tells you anything.
  10. Thanks, I hope so. I was going to do a remote DSB but after much research decided that may not be a good idea anymore . Now I'm thinking of just bare bottom with macro.
  11. The Reef Octopus is installed! After a little tweaking it's working great. Thanks C&C for another great deal!
  12. Well, I've had this running over my tank for a few weeks now and couldn't be happier. I have it mounted 9" above the water and have the blues set to 60% max and whites to 40%. I did figure out how to program it after all. It's not that hard once I could wrap my head around it works off a 24hr clock.(I have never had to before) I've reset it several times now and didn't even need to look at the instructions after the second time. I like the way I'm able to mix the blue and white to virtually any spectrum I want at any time I want. No need for extra cords, timers or supplemental lights that I have had to do in the past. My mounting system didn't quite work out so well, But maybe for the better. I had to cut out the funky hinge point and replace it with a temporary repair. I have actually come to like my temporarily repair better then the hinge idea. Now if I need to move the light to work in the tank. I just unplug the light loosen the top thumb screw and remove the whole light. I may just replace the thumb screws with some black knobs like on the sides of a shop light and keep it the way it is. Right now I have the power cord cable tired to the left side of the bar so it's absolutely unseen from where I view the tank. I highly recommend this light to anyone that's interested in one. Dave
  13. My son wants me to get one of them, or just a plain old frog fish to put in our refugium. Actually he just wants anything that will eat other fish.
  14. the last and only acrylic tank I ever owned scratch so easy. But it was a off the shelf clarity plus aquarium by sea clear. I don't know if there would be a difference in acrylic quality. I think I paid just as much for it as the glass one I have now.
  15. I think the one I knew I had went over the edge. ( rimless tank )
  16. Well I figured out what I did wrong. When I got back from C&C last night it was about 7:30 and I was just burnt out from traffic and driving. I set it up didn't read any instructions. I stuffed the air tube way up inside the muffler. But the noise it was making sounded like a pump running. So tonight when I got home I started tinkering and this is what I came up with. It didn't matter how much of the air tube I pushed in or out of the factory RO muffler it sounded like poo. A little bit of Google and bang! Diy skimmer muffler. Its still a bit noisy but manageable. Thanks TheClark for giving me a few ideas to work with. Dave
  17. The pump it self to has little rubber feet on it then another set on the bottom of the body. But I did notice putting it together that they machine the hole in the side of the body real tight. You can just get the Venturi though the acrylic. They should have used a silicone grommet of some sort right there. By doing what they did kinda cancelles out putting rubber feet on the pump. Makes no since? Put rubber feet on one end of the pump and hard mount the other.
  18. Na, I'm about done with the whole thing. Here soon it's all going to be in the classified section.
  19. Not quite at all! You can hear this thing run in every room of my house. Just as loud maybe even louder then the Bubble Magus I had.
  20. May get in line for a piece? I wouldn't be able to pick up until Saturday.
