  1. Since the skimmer uses reclaimed air to create the bubbles how would it oxygenate the water like a traditional skimmer? I have an added a hose to my skimmer so it can suck fresh air from outside the stand. It seams to help with PH and cloudy water. I have even noticed a difference if I open the windows in y house vs using my A/C in the summer.
  2. You have to get bulkhead fittings from a local aquarium shop. Depending where you live I know ocean in a box had some in stock the last time I was there. also seahorse aquarium supply I got a 1/2" one from not to long ago.
  3. Really? I'll have to grab some from work tomarrow and give them a try.
  4. Schedule 80 is way over kill to plump an aquarium. But, I have had to buy a couple schedule 80 fittings because I just couldn't find them in 40. Most if not all 40 and 80 should be interchangeable. What are you trying to adapt?
  5. Well it's been a few weeks, so far so good! It pulls a 1/2 cup of skim every 3 days or so. I way love the gate valve over the stupid adjuster tubes the last skimmers had. The gate valve is adjustable with just one finger. I broke it down to night so I could do some upgrade plumbing. This is what it looked like after just two days of running. I have been so impressed with the skimmer I bought a DCT-3000 return pump. Now that I have it installed I kinda wish I would have chose the DTC-4000 or maybe even the DTC-6000. The DCT-3000 is doing a fine job returning sump water but I have to set it all the way on high to get the job done. Although it would probably do a much better job if I were not also feeding my remote 25 gallon refugium with it. Before I installed the DCT-3000 I disassembled it to check the bearing clearances. Everything seam so spin freely and work fine. I may give it a few weeks then clean it to get an idea of future performance. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Bimart had it when I was last there. Sandy bimart anyway.
  7. I did end up using a lower speed for a few hours. I was walking by and thought I would check on the performance. Decided the foam level needed turned down. Instead of taking the time to adjust the gate valve I just turned the pump down 2 speeds. Later when I had more lime I readjusted it the proper way and turned the speed back up to full power.
  8. Here is 24 hours worth of scum. Keep in mind I don't have much of a bio load. Only 6 small fish and 100 total gallons of water.
  9. Also is it a DC or the newer DCT?
  10. Mind me asking where you got it from?
  11. I promise not post firearms for sale. What the heck am I even posting for? I don't sell firearms I only buy! Why would anyone ever sell a firearm? Soon they are going to be as hard to find as a needle in a haystack. Well, if the left has their way. Sorry just had to add some funny also!
  12. So here it is. My new cheep Jebao powered DC skimmer named the Coral Box. It just arrived from Hong Kong. First impressions are good. It was packed very well in foam and bubble wrap. The acrylic is right on par with both my last skimmers. ( Bubble Magus and Reef Octopus) The Jebao DC2000 is very quite! So quite I can not even here it over my Quite One return pump and Reefcorner LED cooling fans. So quite I think the Quite Ones days are numbered! Way more quite then both my last skimmers by far! Now that I have a D/C pump to compare to. the A/C pumps seem to have a knocking noise to me. Where as the D/C pump I have has a turbo charger like whine if I turn off everything else to hear it. Things That I'm not impressed with. I think it's called the valute And the bubble defuser lid.? Basically the pieces that are orange that are cast from what seems cheep Chinese brittle plastic. Like the orange power tools horrible freight use to sell. Also I don't think the pump really needs 8 speeds. The first 4 or 5 do not provide enough foam to even use them. I really don't see a need for the controller at all. I have it set on high and adjusted the gate valve to get what I think is a perfect foam level in the skimmer body. 13. What pump?
  14. I see they have done some improvements to the 3000 and up models. And of course the skimmer I ordered has the DC2000 pump.
  15. Get a peppermint shrimp, just one will take care of any future aptasia problems. I have around 70lbs of rock and had a crap load of aptaisia. Just two cleaned them out of the tank in about a week. I tried the picking them off and injecting. Just made the problem worse.
  16. Sump. But back in the day when I was a renter it was sump less for me. I had a 30ish gallon? Don't remember. For flow/skimmer and filter I used two Aquaclear 300's. In one I ran the typical sponge&carbon. In the other I used a hang on skimmer hanging on the back of a Aquaclear 300 with no lid. This way the only thing that was sticking in the tank was the Aquaclear inlet tubes. This tank also used the old school wood canopy so none of that crap was seen. IIRC CPR use to make a hang on refugium with a built in skimmer.

    DC pumps?

So I have not been happy with both of my last skimmer purchases. The first was a Bubble Magus Nac 5.5. It worked great, it was the perfect size for my limited sized sump. But to me was crazy loud! So I sold it to reefboys and moved on. My next purchase was a Reef Octopus classic 150sss. Also a great skimmer. Worked spot on, set it and forget it. But again to loud for my liking. also a bit to big to fit in my limited sized sump if I wanted to use the filter sock (which I do). Both skimmers fell under my own policy of buy from my LFS. I ended up ordering a skimmer online and its powered by a Jebao DC pump. Yes, this does not fall under my own personal policy of buy local. The reason why? I was bit embarrassed to ask of our local shops to procure it for me or if they could since it's a off brand and I doubt they even know about them. The question??? How reliable have your DC pumps been for you? I know Jebao by no means is a Vectra. But have also read many bad stories of even Waveline,Skimz pumps and Reef Octopus. Mr. Saltwater won't even use one. Dave
  18. Sandy I just returned your pm. Call or text me it will be faster. Dave
