Scratch that plan. After just a bit more research I found if it looses power it resets. That's so dumb! Why would someone make a product like this and not make it have a set point memory?

I know other will say it's no good to use. I in the other hand have no problem using it or ever have. In fact the bag I'm using out of now was 1 solid block unopened new from the factory. I opened the bag and busted it to pieces in a clean 5 gallon pale. I broke it up by hand until it was like powdery gravel size. Then broke out the kitchen hand mixer to make it back into powder. The salt I'm using now has no anti caking agent in it. So even resealed back in its bag, another bag or even the bucket I put it in. It try's to turn back into a solid block again.

The other day when the power went out it caused my new skimmer to over flow. This happened because all the power has to do is just blip and the Jecod DC pumps reset themselves then start ramping back up to set point power. This action makes my tank loose siphon, fill the sump and has to start all over again. So this made me think? There has to be a delay timer of some sort on the market to delay the skimmer a few minutes before startup. Behold their is! Reef Octopus, But with a price. $49.99 plus the ride. So onto the forums I go in search of a more cost effective way. Here it is. The Supco TD-69 adjustable delay timer. . I found if I wired it to just break the circuit ether the leg of 110 or even the neutral it would wig out the Jecod controller and I would get a 4-1 code and the pump wouldn't start. It would start a light or a Rio AC pump but why? So this made me think what to do? Omron DPDT 120v relay! I don't know why but we have two boxes full of them at work. Well we did. Did a little bit of rewiring. Set it to 3 min and gave it a test on the DC pump and BANG! Works Great! All for less then $20.00 I would guess. Three months later and my wrasse has them again!!!! And it's just him showing signs, bumping of the sand and twitching. I wonder if it's because he sleeps in the sand bed? This time I'm going to hit the tank with three doses. Maybe this time will end it for good!

Had my first DIY ATO float valve malfunction. The power went out for a bit earlier. I ran to unplug the skimmer so it wouldn't over flow on restart. A DIY skimmer startup delay timer is also in the works. (The parts are in the mail) the power was not off that long at all but enough to make the return pump reset. It's the new Jecod DCT-3000. For the people that do not know. They ramp the power back on slowly from zero to what ever you had it set to previously. Even if it's just a blip in the power it does this. That means my full siphon breaks and has to restart every time. After all this I plugged the skimmer back in then opened the cabinet to check on things. Just to find the skimmer section of my sump almost ready to overflow! Looked around quickly to find my bubble trap foam plugged up with a funny layer of goo? So I quickly removed that to refill the return section with water. Well during all this chaos the return section was empty. In turn the float valve added about 3 gallons of top off that was pumped strait to the display. Luckily I keep my salinity pretty high so it wasn't impacted that bad. The funny thing about tonight is my other DIY project is a ATO timer to prevent things like this from happening. The parts for that showed up today and was sitting on the counter, within eye sight! Go figure! Needless to say, I don't think that foam bubble block is returning to my sump any time soon.

Yep found that out myself a couple nights ago. All the other fish hid in the rock work.
